  • Dr. Jeffrey Brown explains the importance of Vitamin D and how a deficiency can cause problems with health and healing. Optimal levels of vitamin D range from 60-80 ng/mL. Have your doctor look into this to see if you are deficient so you can take the necessary steps to help your body perform better.

    My test came back with 21.4
    I have been having mental issues due to it.
    Insomnia, anxiety, panic attacks, fatigue, brain fog, loss of appetite, and deep depression. All of this is because I am a graveyard shift worker. 8 years of it finally caught up to me.

      Dark skinned ppl in sunny climates have low Vit D levels as melatonin makes their skin darker to avoid being burned by the sun & so they also end up with a a deficiency. If everyone in the world took the proper amount of D there would be almost no need for hospitals! Thats WHY we are not told to take it, would cause the healthcare system to crash & all the money these bastards like BillyGates would lose would be crazy! #FollowTheMoney #CrimesAgainstHumanity

    Oh my word😤 my so called doctor told me my levels were normal too. The numbers came back at 42. He stated I didn't need to supplement, due to having toxicity brought on. No wonder I'm still tired, Irritable, and have foggy brain. Today's Doctor's just don't really give a flame. It's best to be your own damn advocate.

    Thank you Dr Brown. I only heard about this aspect of Vit D the past few weeks, so have upped my levels. I, m now up to 8,000iu a day, which I know is not massive, but I am building up gradually. Already I am feeling improvements: more energy, and a couple of minor injuries that healed way quicker than I had expected, I am 61 now, so was getting used to things slowing down........... not any more !! That is crazy about the Tourette's, who would have thought that ? amazing... I recently got diagnosed with ADD, so hopefully it may help with that too. I refuse to take poison amphetamines at my age. I doubt very much if I can get my Vit D levels tested in the UK, especially with all the COVID madness, so I will just have to keep researching and experimenting. That is 2 of your videos that have been a big help to me, so I subscribed, thanks again Jeffrey.

    D3/K2 by KForce is the one I recommend to my own clients. Also, D3 can lead to a magnesium deficiency so supplementing with Magnesium L Threonate will do your body good. Another one is a full B complex vitamin otherwise you can end up with neuropathy. Taking an additional amount of Pantothenic Acid- B5 is also beneficial for deep sleep since both D3 and B5 is needed by the brain to create acetylcholine so the body can become paralyzed during deep sleep. There are many consequences of inadequate deep sleep such as waking up frequently to use the bathroom since anti-diuretic hormone cannot be made unless the body is in deep sleep. D3 deficiency in children can cause a host of developmental issues as well so make sure your children get enough sunlight and or supplementation as needed. Much more to this, but hope this helps someone. BTW, I'm an exercise physiologist with nearly 3 decades of training in functional medicine.

    How long does it take for Vitamin D to get depleted in the body?

    • @SleepTMJTherapyVienna
      @SleepTMJTherapyVienna  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question however, there is no set answer unfortunately. Some sources say that Vitamin D can deplete half of its supply within 15 days however, this does not take in count of the stored Vitamin D in the body. In our practice we see that our patients are running very low on Vitamin D when their bloodwork is analyzed. If you are not sleeping well, always getting sick and/or healing slowly, definitely look in to having a Vitamin D Test. With all due respect, Vitamin D is not a hormone, but CAN be transformed in the body into a hormone called "Calcitriol".
    In a study, they gave patients Calcitriol and they did not get the full effect of Vitamin D.
    So they gave Calcidiol (the Vitamin D metabolite that is stored in the body), and they still did not get the full effect.
    Only when they gave true Vitamin D (Colecalciferol), did they get the expected effects.

Once the sleep specialist has the results, they will be able to give you several recommendations. Recommendations typically include, create a bedtime routine (go to be the same time every night and get up at the same time every morning), no alcohol, exercise or caffeine before bed, create an optimal sleeping environment (dark room, quiet, comfortable), meditate to relax, possibly use a sleep appliance if there is an apnea problem and so on.
