You are a couple of crazy kids on a great adventure! I only hope that can stay safe and protected from this terrible disease threatening every ones way of existence!
Watching this is like reading Huckleberry Finn on weed. Jankiest boat on youtube? Probably. Wackiest couple? Maybe. My favorite youtube channel? Definitely!
You know what I admire the most about your adventures...you didn't wait for the boat to be just right! You jumped in both feet and with child like wonderment! Goodonyas!
If it were me I would definitely get some cable or rope, some pulleys and make provisions for steering the motor from inside somewhere. Also hanging around some of those marinas I'm sure you could find a throttle and gear control cable and get the cockpit out of the weather. Just collect pieces up a little at a time. Pulleys, cable, and if nothing else a lever to steer with inside.
Love your adventures ! Keep videos coming, please. In my sailing days, learning curve was steep. My trimaran was great in Hi.. So great you have a true classic to restore, esp. after these times pass. God keep you both. Patricio G. Corpus Christi, Tx
Really feel for you guys! We've all been there! Makes for some long sleepless nights! I live on the west coast of Florida. When we get winds from the west, it blows the water in and tides are much higher. Conversely east winds will blow the water out and we can see much lower than normal tides. From where you guys were, the west wind might be what dropped the water level. It sometimes takes a couple tide cycles for it to return to normal once the winds die down. Love your videos!
hey guys my name is jorwil i`ve been following for the oast week or so during the quarantine and wow i`ve been enjoying your venture be safe and happy voyaging blessings
Love it! You guys have totally redefined sailing. I have to say, in your position, I think I'd get out and push it into a little deeper water; hopefully it's not deep mud 😂
Very good to hear from you two and I hope you are well into Florida now. There was a hell of a party on the Boca Grande sandbar last week. Amazingly, the boat business is booming in Port Charlotte. I am busier now than any other time this season. Have no idea why unless people think DeSantis is going to close us down. I have spent lots of time online looking for catamarans. There are two I want to see but they are in the Keys and only residents are allowed down there. I heard all boat ramps in southeast Florida are closed but we are active here in the south west Gulf coast. I have been in contact with friends in Bahamas and they have experienced few changes or inconvenience except that the say they can't come home right now. Heck, when you are in Bahamas who wants to come back to the states? Regards from Capt Ed and Wahoo the cat
I was a little worried about you guys, glad you are still afloat. Use the tilt feature on the motor to gain clearance in shallow anchorage. You can actually motor with the motor tilted up a little, in shallows. There should be several different tilt angles on your outboard. How far from destination are you now? Edit, I see you already know about the tilt feature :(
I was wondering were you two might be. Good to see that you are OK. This was not a terribly exciting video, but hey , how exciting can it be to be hunkered down in a storm while self isolating. Kudos for showing us how it really is, and not just the sunsets and bikinis 👙 that you get on some of the sailing channels. Stay safe! :)
Doesn’t your boat motor tilt up all the boat motors I have owned had a lever you move and your motor will tilt up out of the water but maybe yours is different
*or... keeping a line in 24 hours a day. As someone who fishes with his wife I will tell you persistence can be a remarkable substitute for skill. She caught a 20 lber at her feet while she untangled her reel last year. Ka-kaw!*
You seem to have a big delay before you upload a new video. What date was it when you filmed this last video? Good to see you again. Are you hiding away from the corona virus? Best of luck😎👍🙏🙏
Quite frankly, getting a little worried. I hope you guys are okay and your boat survive that. Drop something in the comments and let us know how you did. I think I'm speaking for quite a few people and saying that we are a bit concerned.
@@DaveStarr100.3 Reason I missed the news is I was following the videos while working my night job but I retired in July and now I am finding some free tome to catch up the video logs I was following. I was that far behind and noticed the face blurring.
Well your smart enough to start and maintain a youtube channel so instead of always saying I DON'T KNOW search youtube for a video and repair your boat does not have to be permanent, temporary works too. Do not let money hinder your natural skills to think and figure out a solution. Plenty of free lumber around to reinforce your tiller bracket just have to look for it.
I'm finding this harder to come back to watch since discovering channels like Sailing La Vagabonde. You guys are just one step up from homeless, almost, except a homeless person can walk into town and beg for money and get a shower. Maybe you're one step down from homeless. It's not like you're doing any boating.
I gotta say I’m a doubter but also a fan who has watched all you videos and followed y’all from the beginning. I really want to see y’all succeed, but after the long break between videos and being almost 3 months behind what y’all are putting out I have to say this video sucked. Y’all had more than enough time to edit interesting content and instead made a 13 min video of the boat getting rained on moving side to side, showing a motor that should have been tilted up and talked about washing your hair. Pretty sad....
Sorry but I didn’t like this video because it is mostly in the dark. When you edit , if you can’t eliminate the black screen then maybe youn should film only during the day. Just saying
Your solar chargecontroller "sucks" a bit. The type you use is pwm. And that means that it will take the solar panel voltage down to what is needed to charge the connected battery. The over voltage that is not needed is just not used. This way you loose power that was generated. A mppt solar charger does a different thing. It will convert the over voltage into more charging amps. So a simple example. Let's say you have 1x 100 Watt solar panel with an outgoing voltage of 20 Volts. To get the rated 100 Watts it means it will put out 5 Amps in full sunlight. 20Vx5Amp=100Watts. But the 12V battery only needs 14 Volts to charge. So the pwm charge controller will lower your 20 Volts to 14 Volts by just not using 6 volts. What remains is 14Vx5Amps=70Watts. The mppt will also lower that voltage to 14 Volts but will increase the Amps by internal conversion of the not wanted 6 Volts via a sort of transformer. So 14Vx7Amps=98Watts or maybe a little less since internal conversion will not be 100% efficient. But all good comes with a higher price as all does in life. So if not needed pwm will do the job just fine. But keep in mind that mppt also means that you can work with thinner wires from the pannels to the charge controller when you put panels in series instead of parallel. This is because you work with a higher voltage instead of a higher amperage. Downside of that is that if one panel will get shading it means that all panels will be evenly less efficient as far as I know.
This dynamic of weather, marine life, fearlessness and humor is riveting in a casual fun way. Thx guys
Enjoy the videos!!! Stay safe

Just a thought all small out board motors will tilt up and lock in place.
Tilt the motor...in shallower water...also, you can trim it...

try to install a rectifier regulator on you outboard to charge your battery. keep those videos coming and stay safe you two.

They don't know how to sail. Is that how you want sailing redefined? They don't own a sail. Or a mast. It's a slow barge if anything.
Glad to see you guys again! I was beginning to worry about you. lol
I assumed they were beached in a storm or arrested. That boat can't be licensed.

Make a rain water catcher,
Dan Dixon take a shower
Couldn’t you tilt up your outboard if in shallows?
You know there’s a way you can make the battery to charge off the motor with a regulator rectifier
I must have missed a video! where is you mast? Send it ahead?
You gotta catch up! :) we stored the mast at salt ponds marina in Hampton VA for now

didnt i see in an earlier episode that you had 2 batteries? hook them both up in parallel and that will help you with power

What is the make of the catamaran and how long is it and the year
I cringe every time they call it a catamaran. You realize they never mounted the mast?

Gotta be a way
Maybe a special pvc fitting from Home Depot for outboards.
I have that same Mercury outboard on my dinghy, it tilts up. I’m guessing they haven’t a clue how to do it?
No fishing lines out ? I’d be eating lots of fresh fish. 😋
