Just like in the west if a building is registered with the government as something you can't change it into something else without government permission. Ex you can't make a school into a motel unless you register it and get permission first.
So it was always a mosque, and it's still open to all people's but now FREE of charge no more $15 museum entry fees.
There is no reason Turkey can't have say over it's land but of course Western colonial minded individuals will always see other people's lands and property as theirs and that they should control everyone even in their own homelands very selfish narrow-minded ideology... Extremely far and opposite of liberty and justice for all!!
I have alot of respect for my Turkish brothers and sisters, I just wished they had considered the Quran where we are told to protect worship places, that they had considered the act of the Caliph Umar on refusing to pray in a Church for fear that it would be converted into a Masjid.

There are various churches in Europe that are being abandoned, sold or used to host music concerts and the Orthodox Church says nothing when it comes to Hagia Sophia it is an international incident. Turkey abided the will of its people in their majority wanted the Hagia Sophia to become a functioning Mosque. President Erdogan also ensures the rightful visiting hours of the Christians however even this is not good enough for them. The Hagia Sophia is a done deal Turkey will not go back to change it status I suggest all Christian religions affiliations Respect the will of majority of Turkish People and decision of Turkish legislators who are Muslims.

In fact President Erdogan went out of his way to make sure Hagia Sofia gets the same treatment as the Blue Mosque in Istanbul also a former Church converted into Mosque...Orthodox Church is just a scandalous entity they even fight among themselves it is well known the Russian orthodox have problems with their Ukrainian orthodox counterparts so it is not uncommon to see the folly in the logic of the Orthodox Church...

He improved a lot of things in Turkey and here are a few :
1- Agriculture : (statistics range from 2002 to 2017)
-In 2002 we used to have 83 Million lera worth of cattle and now we have 3.8 Billion worth of cattle across Turkey increasing from 4,4% to 30% in 2017.
-Turkey used to Produce 421 thousand ton of red meat, and now we produce 1,1 million Ton.
- Turkey used to produce 696 thousand ton of white meat, and now produces 2,1 million Ton.
- Agriculture income increased from 36,9 to 188,7 billion Lira.
- Total exports of agricultural and food products increased from 4 billion Dollars in 2002 to 17,6 billion Dollars.
2-Healthcare : (statistics range from 2002 to 2017).
- Turkey used to spend 18,6 billion and now spends 116 billion Lira in Healthcare.
- Turkey used to have 1100 hospitals and now has approx 1600
-Total number of intensive beds increased from 2.200 to 36.000.
3-Education (statistics range from 2002 to 2017)
-Turkey used to have 76 universities and now has 207
-Number of laboratories in schools increased from 18 thousand to 39 thousand.
4-Economy (statistics range from 2002 to 2017).
-Turkey used to have a GDP of 230 billion to 851.
-Now there is alot of Turkish products everywhere across the globe especially east Europe and North Africa.
-Turkey used to a very small industry and now it’s industry forms 28% of Turkey’s GDP, now ranked in top 15 World wide.
-Currently building the biggest airport in the world which is expected to finish in 2-4 years
5- Random things Erdogan also did :
-Revived Turkey’s culture and identity
-Turkey is much much more cleaner
-Turkey now has 4 times more public gardens
-Fixed and improved infestructure across Turkey
-Turkey now spends 3 times more Money on research
-People are much much more happier

So don't be afraid, Allah will be with you all and make Turkey big again and improve the economy in Turkey if muslims follow Qur'an and adzan as the call to prayer resounded. Allah is the best planner.

3 Things that bothers Turkish people the most about this change:
1. Erdogan might be a good muslim, but he's a miserable economist. Coming out of that people impute that this is a cover up for the economic misery and is used to draw attention away from that.
2. Turkey is the country with the most mosque's in the whole world. Literally around every corner is a mosque, and most of the time except for friday, janazah or eid prayer theyre often empty. (of course it depends on the location, some might be full)
3. Erdogans problem with the changes Ataturk made and him insulting indirectly Ataturk.
I know this one is a tough one but let me say yes you can hate the changes ataturk made, but you have show some degree of respect for his service to the turkish people.

When I was in high school in Canada , my classmates would have a party and once when I asked where it is held they said it was an active church that would rent out at night on weekends for kids to do all sexual things/dances at that age. End of the day, Muslims would NEVER desecrate a place of worship like that.

The so called mosque of cordoba was build upon a ruined church that was originally build by romans and then used by visigoths, the church was ruined and then destroyed during the muslim invasions due to the two decade long as revenge for the strong hispanian resistance.

Many don't know Haghia Sophia was purchased by the Sultan. It was sold for a huge price in that time and there are legal documents about it too. Greece has the documents. It of course helps western narrative to criticize Turkey instead. This khilafat movement opened the door of Ghandi's non-cooperation movement to free the subcontinent from British colonization. A British spy called T.E Lorence provoked the Arab to make movement against Ottoman khilafat. Ottoman empire had big role for not only Muslim but for freeing the Indian subcontinent from British colonization. Thanks to Erdogan for reconverting Hagia Sofia into mosque and bringing back the legacy of sultan Mohammad Fatih (RA)🇧🇩❤️🇹🇷
