    I'm French and my wife is Turkish. I can say that it is the best country in the world. History everywhere. This country hosted the Roman, Persian, Ottoman and Byzantine Empires. Turks have a secret history in Europe, just like the Hungarians and Bulgarians are of Turkish origin. Turks surprise me day by day.I am now considered a Turk and I'm proud of it. Long live the Republic of Turkey

    Hope the people of Turkey always remember Ataturk was a great leader, never undo what that great man ,he separated religion from politics and modernised his country, they fly the flag every where for Turkish people are very proud and takes great pride in culture history and of course their cuisine, which I’m afraid some countries have lost that sense of pride.

    Atatürk,the founder of Turkish republic,has nothing to compare to a regular politician.However strong leader may Erdoğan be,they are of a different kind.
    Atatürk is the founder of a new nation,a definer of its ideals to reach more human-like life,more civilized one.
    Atatürk carried a nation forward.Unlike Erdoğan, he praised human logic,science,art and most importantly secularism.
    Erdoğan claims he carried us to be a better,weathier nation,wheras he is so obsessive with religious tools,which took us nowhere.
    Sorry.

    It's crystal clear - the main issue in our country right now is the absence of strong opposition. We may still have a functioning democracy, but without a robust opposition, it's hard to ensure a healthy balance of power. No need to be shy about it; it's a critical concern. It's worth mentioning that one of the main reasons for the lack of change in the country is Kilicdaroglu who seemingly forced himself into candidacy, using the country's challenging situation as his own political platform. Unfortunately, he missed a significant opportunity this year, and now we're stuck with this new government for another five years. It's a missed chance for much-needed change

      There might be a chance if the public understands that connecting your identity to certain parties, like the main opposition party, is not good. There should be more voices heard but the only opposition party that has been relevant today is the main opposition party. There are other parties whose objectives fit in with Atatürk's and can act as solid oppositions in the parliament but are silenced because society is too devoted to the main opposition party, in my opinion. However, it looks like this is changing seeing that İYİ Parti and TİP won seats and Memleket partisi, TKP, and TKH got support in the last election, which is giving me hope even though I do not completely agree with all of these parties' political ideologies.

    The path to imperialism stands no chance in the 21st-century global village, for it clashes with the beat and bandwidth of our interconnected world. Religious-based governance often breeds corruption and is out of sync with Western ideals. Turkey should remain true to Atatürk's vision, built on freedom, liberty, transparency, human rights, and democracy. Democracy disperses power, granting governance to diverse institutions rather than a select few. It is the cornerstone of justice, prosperity, and peace, as the wise saying goes, 'The absence of justice is the absence of peace.'"....

    Attaturk, in my opinion, wouldn’t be that pleased with all the changes, or the overall progress in Turkey, since his time, especially the regression in terms of religious freedom or its domination of public life. He was educated in Greece and embraced all Western values, including educational and economic progress to improve the standard of living of all the Turks. The hijab and other outward signs of religious affiliation were forbidden by law by Attaturk and Hagia Sofia was made an international museum, not a mosque, just to give two examples. He also saw himself as the first, and only necessary, dictator, because of the newness and instability of the state, he was hoping a true republic state would take root, not just a series of other dictatorships, like the present one. The state of education and the economy have not improved as much as he had hoped. I really like the Turkish people, but one can’t say they have truly become the educated, prosperous European citizens that Attaturk had hoped for. Still, Turkey has come a long way from the nation of peasant-farmers raising tobacco it was a century ago. The educated, cosmopolitan upper classes, the Greeks, were all deported and the country had a very long way to go without qualified teachers, business leaders, scientists and engineers, and government workers. These things take time, good luck to Turkey.

    • @itachi7285
      @itachi7285 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You're perspective is very limited. The Turks are not just European or just Middle Eastern. We originated in the great steppes of Asia and our original religion was Tengrism which is a very tolerant religion. Then over time, it became monotheistic before transitioning into Islam the more the Turks progressed through the Middle East towards Europe and our original religion slowly became taboo over time. But because Islam is Arabic and most Turks do not understand this language, the Turkic perspective of Islam is more loose and casual compared to the Arabs. This is why the Arabs revolted against the Ottomans who allowed most regions outside of Anatolia to autonomously govern themselves without putting as much emphasis on Islam as the Arab world would have liked. Not only this, the Arabs feel that because they belong to the Semitic bloodline they are more worthy to govern the Muslims than the Turks so they betrayed their last Caliph (supreme Muslim ruler) to form their own respective countries. The flag of the Arab revolt looks very much like the Palestinian flag...
      Anyway, when the Ottomans fell and the Europeans were dividing up the country, it was a scramble to regain our identity as Turks. We associated this identity to the Ottomans whose elites were Muslim. Ataturk formed the Republic of Turkey which was secular and banned all religious freedom (including Christianity and Judaism) and even made the populace worship him in some way. The Turks associated this form of secularism with the Europeans who divided the Ottoman lands. So you will understand that even today the Turks have a negative view about secularism because of the way it was implemented during that era. In terms of the Greeks, well at this point the Turks and Greeks had mixed a lot over the hundreds of years of Ottoman rule. So when Greece and Turkey were formed, there was an exchange between the Christians who were sent to Greece regardless if they were Turk or Greek and the Muslims were sent to Turkey again irrespective if they were actually Greek or Turk. After Ataturk passed away, his ruling party kept up the religious suppression of the populace and were corrupt to the core. This allowed Erdogan to gain fame because he stood for religious freedom and reversed some of the corruption that was once experienced before his rule. The older generation will not forget this and this is why his policies target their values and desires. His opposition never learn and keep getting voted out. The younger generation hunger for a change. This is where we are.
