You're right, but that was also done in the hardcore scene of the time "sick of it all" or "Pantrea". It was a thing of the times. We in Germany even have a word for it: “Zeitgeist”.

Eddie thought the cameraman was really angry at him. He was yelling and yelling & Eddie thought it was at him. He really wanted to track the man down & apologize. The cameraman had retired but Eddie found him. Here's what Eddie said about the meeting:
"Here is the thing, he told me a completely different story than I had in my mind this whole time. I thought he was so angry at me, but he was having other guys hold that thing to hold the back, the ballast, otherwise when I jumped on and we just would have gone down. So he wasn’t yelling at me, but to other guys to hold us up”, Vedder said of their meeting.
"When he’s yelling, he’s not yelling at me, he’s yelling into the mic for the guys to jump off the back, because once I jumped he would have gone shooting into the fucking atmosphere. So the whole time, we were working in tandem but we had no clue whatsoever. He hasn’t been angry at me this whole time, and I just feel so fuckin’ forgiven.”
    🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 OH Eddie 🤦🏼‍♀️

I think this video is the most I've seen her smile in any of the reactions that I've seen. This performance will do that, it is one of a kind. Pearl Jam was one of the most exciting bands to see live back in the 90s. They're older now and still put on great performances, but nothing like the wild, reckless abandon of their heyday. I;ve seen them many times, but the first few years were incredible to behold. Thanx for sharing! ~Be Blessed

This is pure rock n roll. It's absurdly incredible. I'm glad we have it recorded. May the Universe bless the cameramen. I'm eternally grateful to be able to see this kind of show. Seeing this type of art and how it occurs is to feel that it is possible to make it happen and live in the moment without thinking about Instagramming things. Imagine if the artists of that time thought about how they would look in the edition? May Eddie Vedder inspire everyone.

Such a badass performance and song. Peal Jam left it all on the stage for real.
Also funny story about the part he climbed up on. They actually needs people on the bottom to keep the whole camera setup from falling over. The camera man wanted him up there so didn’t tip over haha
Eddy actually met up with the same camera man years later at a show and promised he would never do that again haah. Great moment. I think that videos TY somewhere.

Eddie Veddar......absolute King of the stage jumpers. There's some footage of him talking about those days. He said...."If we're gonna do it, we're gonna do it" meaning send it to the extreme. Go big or go home. After a gig like that, Eddie would think man, my back hurts. There would be scratches all over his back from the crowd.
