    A BIG THANKS for the video. I saved over $300 in repair bills by using this video! One little comment. The large pin on the spring goes into a hole that becomes a smaller hole. If the large spring pin does NOT go into the smaller hole then the mechanism will not function.

    IMPROPER LOADING of dishes can also lead to soap dispenser not opening! Thank you for the video. While cleaning my soap dispenser as your video instructed, I noticed I had very little build up and while sitting on the floor with the dishes still unloaded, I realized my soap dispenser did not open because I had loaded dishes improperly! I had loaded soup bowls in the top rack that extended into the “cut out cavity” where the soap dispenser fits. One of the bowls pressed on the sliding door or perhaps above the sliding door and kept the soap dispenser from opening. Hopefully, this comment will help someone else who is frustrated like I was that the soap had not dispensed and the dishes are still dirty.

    I had trouble with my dishwasher and your video helped. I soaked the soap door in white vinegar and cleaned up most of the soap gunk overnight. Thanks for the video. Following your steps, I managed to get the door off and clean out all the gunk. I also removed the rubber o-ring on the inside of the door and cleaned the gunk under that. I used a can of compressed air to get the gunk out. Was also easy enough to put everything back together again in the reverse order. Cheers!

    For anyone who had the same problem as me, be aware that there is a very tiny spring beneath the darkish button which opens the hatch when pressed. If your button is loose and can not be pressed, the problem is very likely a loose or missing spring. Open the hatch just like in this video, then unlock the button from its holding sockets and slide it out to your hand. Locate the spring that should be beneath the button mechanism (make sure the spring does not fall off and disappear, it's super tiny so easy to lose). Use some glue or something to place the spring on the button mechanism and slide it back to its place.
    I know this instruction may be confusing without video demonstration but once you realize what the problem is, you can figure the rest out yourself easily. It took me a long while to realize that the button has a tiny spring on it. Mine was loose, yours might be missing. Hope this helps!
    Great video by the way!

    Excellent; my Bosch had about a decade of mineral deposits and I had to use a flat head screw driver and wire brush to clean it off But once done, back to working great. Love these repair videos. I had to replace the bottom gasket on the door and it was so easy and only cost me a couple days to get a $30 part and then install it within 30 minutes. Probably saved at least $200-$300 in repair charges, as well as not having to lose time waiting for a repairman.

    Thanks so much! I had overfilled the soap dispenser so it could not open, then the soap had dried into a solid mass. Once I got the door off (it was tricky but I followed your directions) I was able to dissolve the soap, clean everything up like you showed in the video, then replace the door and it works perfectly. Moral of the story - don't overfill the soap dispenser!!

    I had a Bosch for years, and always had this problem. I just got a new one only 2 months ago, and hoped that they would have fixed whatever design flaw caused this, but alas, no. I only use liquid gel, there's never gunk or hardened stuff in the dispenser, it's clean clean clean, yet it still has a problem with sometimes not opening & dispensing soap during the wash. The only thing that works is to thoroughly saturate the dispenser cracks & clasps with WD-40. I had a crappy Maytag before my Bosch, and it never had this problem. The dishwasher at my office doesn't have this problem. My mother-in-law's dishwasher doesn't have this problem. Why can't Bosch resolve this?

    Never would have thought about it but you may also wanna use proper dishwashing detergent.. My problems started when I switched to a cheaper brand. It doesn't dissolve properly so it sticks on the bottom of the dispenser and around the big spring and the small spring on the little button making the door immobile. So annoying.

    This was very helpful - turns out a dirty dispenser was not the problem for me - and this might be helpful to others. A piece of the lid was sticking up (hardly noticeable!) causing the lid to stay closed.
    When I got the top off it didn't seem to need a cleaning. After a bunch of trial and error playing around I came to realize that the problem was due to a small piece of the lid that was sticking out (towards the main door and soap holder) preventing the lid from moving to the open position when it should. My lid is slightly different than the one shown. Mine has three tiny parts of the brown/gray lid holding in the blue track that goes around the inside of the lid in a rectangle. These three retainers??? are on the bottom side of the lid. One of them was sticking up! After carefully jamming it down to get out the way and match the other two: success! It's working great now.

    BOSCH SHX4AT55UC/14 DISHWASHER SOAP DISPENSER LATCH SPRING, WHERE TO BUY?

  • @richardchristian6974
    @richardchristian6974 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for video. I noticed on my DW that the soap dispenser door opened as soon as I closed the DW door to start the cleaning cycle. So ... I figured that the soap dispenser door was a waste of time and effort. Am I wrong? What good does it do, since it releases detergent immediately upon startup?

    • @gr575
      @gr575  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure what your issue is but probably the smaller spring in the door. Try taking the door off as shown in the video, soak it in vinegar for 20 minutes and brush it clean with a tooth brush.

    • @richardchristian6974
      @richardchristian6974 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gr575 Thanks. My Bosch DW is less than a year old.
      My soap dispenser door doesn't always open, so the soap inside gets wet and becomes hard as a rock. Then I have to chip it out and rerun the dishwasher.
      So I decided not to even close the door, and just fill with the powdered detergent.
      When the soap dispenser door was working, I noticed that the door opened as soon as the cycle started. So what's the purpose of the door?
      In other words, couldn't I just throw detergent into the dishwasher and run it?

    • @gr575
      @gr575  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@richardchristian6974 The bosch does an initial quick 10 minute wash, then opens the door for the long (around 40 minute?) wash. On my bosch, if I run the water in the sink hot before starting then it switches from mode-pre-rinse to mode-wash without draining but usually it empties all the water before starting wash mode. So you can lean against the dishwasher and read a book or play with your phone until you hear it drain and then add soap. And time this so that next time you just set an alarm. Or you can fix it. It's really really easy to fix the soap dispenser door. Soaking in vinegar or other acid (lemon juice) helped remove all the deposits for me and/or physically clean with tooth brush etc.

    • @richardchristian6974
      @richardchristian6974 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gr575 Thanks much, and these days are a great time to do appliance cleaning and repairs. And you answered my question -- the detergent door allows the DW to do a rinse and drain cycle before the wash cycle begins. You also explained how high water temp can prevent draining. I also read about how the DW has an "AquaSensor" that measures water cleanliness for reuse during wash cycle.
      It seems like sometimes my detergent door does not seal well, and the rinse water then wets the detergent so that it doesn't flow out during the wash cycle. Perhaps another problem: Too much detergent restraining the door! How much is generally needed?
