    frames per second is a huge advantage in racing. at 60 fps at 150 mph you travel 36 feet between each frame shown...the faster the frames, the more real time you can see braking zones, etc...its a big deal

    1080p 27 inch looks awful tbh. $200 is way too much for a 1080p "low" refresh rate display in 2024.

  • @IlSinistero
    @IlSinistero 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +45

    27“ at 1080p is still kind of okay, but for around 50$ more per monitor you can already get 32“ 1440p ones with over 120hz - that’s the route I will go 🙂 thx for the vid!

    For anyone looking to buy these:
    Spend a 100$ more per monitor and get something proper, which can both be 27" or 32" at a proper 1440p resolution. The difference between 165hz and 120hz is not noticable for most people anyways (I personally notice a difference until 80hz, after that I am good) and his own video about buying 60hz monitors for simracing was just as questionable anyways.
    And more important than the refresh rate is the synchronization at this point anyways, which is not existend here. And no! Freesynch does not cost the manufacturer extra to implement, only Gsynch does. And one of these 2 techs should be included to reduce screen tearing, which is way more important for simracing.
    Also all over 24" you would want to go with 1440p anyways, as 1080p can be distracting for people at that size and since simracing titles are more CPU than GPU bound, you also hardly will have GPU problems because of the higher resolution with proper screens. The "1ms response time" is standard nowadays and therefore a pointless argument. Even VA panels go with 1ms nowadays. In the end, I cannot tell you what to buy, but I can advice to stay away from something like this which is done with less than basic knowledge about what was advertised in this video.

    • @MnDogman
      @MnDogman 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@s3nTer still, easier to react to unpredictable behavior by other drivers, or mistakes, it’s also just smother, so it feels easier

    • @nickstarlingch
      @nickstarlingch 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@s3nTerIt's enough of a leap in smoothness to make a difference, at least from 60FPS to around 170FPS in my eyes. Can't feel much of a difference between 170 and 240, and I ended up settling on 120 as my norm for consistency since some games just do not run well at high framerates.
      Even games like chess feel better at higher refresh rates, I hope more devs optimize for that in the future.

    In 2024 1440p and 4k should be the standard I hope they start making monitors a lot more affordable at high refresh rates

      1440/4k triples is still hard to push...1080p at 32" is still fine, I have a 6950xt...its no slouch but triple 1440p is still a pain if you want eyecandy also

    Also looking at a triple screen setup with 27" 1080p screens. While a 1440p screen is not that much more expensive, running them requires a very beefy GPU, so I think it's a great value solution running triple 1080p

      Starting at 1080p is not shameful, especially in these times, where GPU manufacturers seem to push people to forget that there is something after 1080p... so much so that the products become expensive

    Running triple Philips Momentum with 1080p 27" 165hz and tbh that is totally fine. I think 27" is a lot more useable for most people as A: they are much more manageable in form factor compared to triple 32". Also with 32" you will HAVE to go with 1440p meaning the strain on your gpu will be very high. Now I personally need my high fps but I do very much care about graphics quality as well. I run an RTX 3080 that I overclocked slightly and my GPU does 180fps in triple 1080p Assetto Corsa on the Nordschleife with Pure and CustomShadersPatch 0.2.3 (preview build) all on the high and sometimes highest settings so I am fine. BUT if I was to use 1440p screens my GPU wouldnt be able to keep up and a 3080 I would say is a pretty strong gpu. 1440p might be nice, but when you are actually racing 1080p is absolutely fine and enjoyable

    Coming from a 75hz VA 1080p panel, the 165hz is incredibly smooth. I can't go back to less than 144hz, even if the game can't run at a steady 165hz. 😂

    i dont think refresh rate has a big impact on refresh rate either, and im the living proof of it,
    i got some pretty fast lap times on some of my videos in Assetto corsa (not bragging, just tryna put the truth out there that u dont need big refresh rates)
    i mostly use 60hz for monitors and 72hz for v.r and im talking like top 10s type of lap times on rsr, sometimes even world record
    when i had a shit p.c i even used 30fps for sim racing, it was tough the faster cars like f1 cars but still doable, but for v.r you want 72hz MINIMUM for every situation or you might get sick
