This was a non violent crime though and they likely do not have prior criminal history. Right. I’m sure these sisters aren’t the only one who’s cheated whoever is refunding money like that, return label scanned and you get your money back 😂.
I don’t really know of many that do… Let alone be big enough to temporarily absorb the risk, and continue to operate while the fraud is caught and investigated, except Amazon. Amazon could easily be a prime (no pun intended) target considering a large volume of their retail business is powered through their Marketplace (I.e other sellers selling through Amazon). Curious to know what online retailer this is.
Because it's good customer service but the real reason why the company was willing to do this is because of the product (active wear). That $100 sports bra costs fifty cents to make so if they don't get it back it's not the end of the world. This wouldn't work with laptops for example because the margins are razor thin on electronics. A $500 laptop cost the retailer like $492 so they're much less likely to do a refund without receiving the item first. On the other hand there's huge margin in gold jewelry. A $500 necklace has like $25 worth of gold in it. That "$1 Million" worth of merchandise is actually worth about $35,000.
I don't know why these retailers don't follow the same practice that Amazon does: the refund is given after they RECEIVE the item. This would have prevented these women getting refunds by showing they had scanned the item in at a post office kiosk - they would only have gotten a single refund per item when they physically returned it to a store.
@@AK19909True but they wait until they get the item and inspect it. If it is not new or they don’t get the item, they automatically take the refund back.

If they were arrested and charged, that is a legal fact and not 'alleged', and their names are a matter of court record and as such public. KOMO just being p****ies about it. This stands in stark contrast to the guy in the DFW area who ran over two bicyclists. He blew a .117 BAC, and both his face and his name was shown in the newscast as he was being led away by the cops. Could it have anything to do with that he was a member of the only demographic not enjoying any special privileges in this woke day and age??

I think if I were a journalist, I would be far more comfortable showing the (alleged) perpetrator of the DFW DUI incident after having seen the video of him ramming two cyclists with one going under the right wheels of the car and getting a report he was measurably legally intoxicated, than I would for someone whom I had not yet seen the evidence of their crime, just the the charge. You cannot actually believe these two situations are remotely comparable. By the way, I'm part of that "only demographic not enjoying any special privileges". (middle-aged white hetero male)
@@toddwright662 you are sort of missing the point. the DFW motorist stands out because of the absence of all that identifying information that is included here, even in cases when a description and/or a name would be helpful in locating the suspect. The fact that none of that info is included in the majority of news reports makes this incident uniquely noteworthy. .
@@shelbynamels7948 What really do you feel you need to know at this stage? The subjects have been booked and charged so no need for the public to identify or locate them. The crime they have been charged with does not suggest they are a danger to society. I just don't see what the big hurry is to identify them; that will certainly happen through the course of the trial or after a plea deal has been reached. The locals, to which their identity might be more interesting and tangible, figured it out in short order given the city and the "five sisters", but I don't see how their specific identity is newsworthy at this stage. By contrast, the crime you chose to compare it to, the DFW DUI event, there was video taken by one of the cyclists released, the assertion that he tried to flee and was denied that by witnesses, and a single point of evidence in the BAC combined with the fact that the crime he is charged with suggests he IS an ongoing safety risk to the general public (should he be released; bail or not). This is a perfect example of someone that SHOULD be identified as soon as prudent to do so., and given all that is known (it's not very complex) the media did so. It only went viral because of the video so it was his bad luck he hit someone with a cycle-cam while he was driving under the influence. I understand your point; I just disagree with your point and find the compare and contrast example you gave to be so weak it deserves to be dismissed out of hand.

Not really you didn't understand the scam. Basically these women can just claim Fedex lost their package because they scanned the shipping label so it is marked as lost in transit by Fedex. The retailer has to refund the customer because its not their fault that the shipping service "lost" the return. A retailer is not going to charge a customer for Fedex losing the merchandise that doesn't make sense. The retailer just ends up filing a missing package claim with the shipping company and gets compensated. So really Fedex is the one losing money here.
So the flaw is in their inventory tracking system, physical and digital. As soon as the item was marked lost they should have never been able to return the item to the store with or without a receipt.
Pretty sure with Costco they don’t refund anything until they receive the item, or it’s instead returned to the warehouse. They’re pretty strict on minimizing costs and loss. So I doubt they’d advance refund. Plus the moment the return label is scanned, and if a refund were issued, everything gets recorded under the membership number. So they’d see the refund was already processed if someone tries to return at the warehouse. Nonetheless I doubt Costco would refund anything until the return item is received. Purchases online offered through a 3rd party vender, that are negotiated to offer a member benefit or reduced price to members, are fulfilled by the 3rd party and returns are handled by the vendor. A member couldn’t return it to a warehouse. They’d be directed to contact the 3rd party to arrange the return.

They need to be locked up not released with no bail. What is wrong with this judge?
The judge is a Progressive.
@@dedragalyon6879 Of course!
If you live in his district, vote him or her out.
@@jeannek4033 Totally agree!
This was a non violent crime though and they likely do not have prior criminal history. The judge does not have the ability to over criminalize defendants charged with non violent crimes by denying them bond. Most stores do not issue a refund until they receive and verify the return. This could have been prevented if whatever store that was copied the return procedures of other stores.
When Are We Going To "SEE THEIR FACES & NAMES & HOW MUCH TIME THEIR ALL GETTING FROM EACH STATE"!!!!!!!??????

Wow!!! Unbelievable. They should not be released. Crazy over a million.....

Since it has now been proven that corporate businesses issue refunds before they even get returned items
And a way to get thrown in Federal prison.
Right?! 😑
@@willieverusethis True, but given the current state of the justice system, especially in WA state, it is possible they will get very little punishment, if any. Or, given the loosey-goosey borders, they might leave the country without a passport.
😂
Who’s IMMEDIATELY refunding anything after the return label has been scanned?! It sounds insane!
Stupid process!
I’m going to guess Lululemon or Vuori. Pretty much the two hottest activewear brands atm.
Right. I’m sure these sisters aren’t the only one who’s cheated whoever is refunding money like that, return label scanned and you get your money back 😂.
How can companies be so stupid to issue a refund before actually getting the items in hand??
I don’t really know of many that do… Let alone be big enough to temporarily absorb the risk, and continue to operate while the fraud is caught and investigated, except Amazon. Amazon could easily be a prime (no pun intended) target considering a large volume of their retail business is powered through their Marketplace (I.e other sellers selling through Amazon). Curious to know what online retailer this is.
They fpund a loophole and exploited it as much as possible
@@JJR9000 Lulu or Athleta.
Right . When I sold stuff online nobody got their money back til I had my item back
Because it's good customer service but the real reason why the company was willing to do this is because of the product (active wear).
Amazon gives most refunds the same day the return label is scanned
Exactly. Soon as they get the scan they received the item to be returned they issue your refund
@@AK19909True but they wait until they get the item and inspect it. If it is not new or they don’t get the item, they automatically take the refund back.
When I return items from Amazon, I get my refund as soon as they realize that the package is on the way, with of course the label being scanned
I'm guessing that they lied and said they had not received the packages 🤔
Whoa!!! Thanks for telling us EXACTLY how they committed the fraud.
These sisters being non natural Born Americans should make their penalties 10x worse.

With all the technology we have, how dumb is it that they were allowed to do a double return in the first place?
Very easy. Order $800 phone from Walmart online. Initiate a return online and scan the return code but don't return the item. Walmart will assume phone was lost in the mail. Then physically go to Walmart and return the same phone. Sometimes Walmart doesn't even ask for a receipt !

Finally a case where Civil Asset Forfeiture actually applies unlike so many others where innocent individuals are relieved of their property and never charged with a crime.
As much as I think I agree with you on civil asset forfeiture, this is more a case of criminal asset forfeiture as there is actually a crime alleged and charged. Civil asset forfeiture needs to go away in its entirety; I have no idea how it can logically be determined to be constitutional.
Criminals are always gonna find a way to do wrong.
I've never had a store return anything for me without a receipt.
Lol, I know me as well.
they had a receipt the scam was to pretend to return as the report said then physically return it so if they spent 100 they were refunded 200 dont see how a recept in person didnt show it was refunded already and they must have used many credit cards with 5 crooks so they used the usps for the scam

Constantly referring to them simply as 'five sisters' is so evasive.
Dunia Almezal, 29, of Marysville, Washington
Layla Almansuri, 27, of Stanwood, Washington
Shahad Almansuri, 33, of Marysville, Washington
Raghad Almansuri, 32, Marysville, Washington
Nejoom Almansuri, 25, Marysville, Washington
Grow up and look up the meaning of words.
I understand your point; I just disagree with your point and find the compare and contrast example you gave to be so weak it deserves to be dismissed out of hand.

a lot of religion to forgive so many sins, why are they not deported?
Any business that issues a refund without receiving their merchandise back first deserves to lose a million dollars.
Thank god you don’t run a business, because you are clueless.
So the flaw is in their inventory tracking system, physical and digital. As soon as the item was marked lost they should have never been able to return the item to the store with or without a receipt.
Lesson learnt for these businesses.. get your returns before issuing a refund!!!!!!!!
@@la6136Wow! Thanks for the explanation!! So sad tho'😢😢
Five Teslas?!? How did that happen? Perhaps Costco?

They purchased the cars will the ill-gotten gains.
