Might sound crazy but after you get the water spots off , apply 1-2 coats of a high quality premium Automotive Wax and spots will stay gone for a couple of months. Treating your clean glass with Rain-X regularly works well also.

Hi. We took the doors we inherited to a glass supplier who replaced the glass in half a day for very little money. His advice was to never clean the glass with products but to sponge down with a window cleaning squeegie/wiper blade every time. I have not had to clean the glass once in eight years. The marks are calcium in the water drops left after they evaporate. No drops no marks. Every now and then I wipe the outside with a dry cloth. I'm in Australia but am sure this would apply in the US as well

Prevention of problems is the key to quickly cleaning and keeping a home clean.
From: One who knows from many years of experience.
    Dear Ms. Jean,
Many years ago, a friend of mine who was 20 years senior to me taught me a quick and easy way to take care of the shower and tub. Never let it get really dirty in the first place. She said there is no better time to clean the shower/tub than right after taking your shower. It only takes 5-10 minutes to prevent water spots and soap scum build up. I simply put about ¼ - ½ cup of Mr. Clean in a 32-oz. super spray bottle. Then, I slowly add water until it is just above the wide portion of the bottle. I attach the sprayer and gently tip the bottle back and forth on its side to mix the solution. Then, it is ready to go for the next time I take a shower.
My preparations to take a shower include placing my shower solution sprayer, and three terrycloth rags/cleaning towels within easy reach of my shower; a face cloth size, a handtowel size, and a bath towel size. After finishing my shower, I reach for the spray bottle and quickly spray all the wet areas of the shower, including the faucet and water handle. Then, I get the facecloth size rag/cleaning cloth wet and quickly wipe across all the area I just sprayed. After that, I rinse the area by getting the hand towel rag/cleaning cloth sopping wet and again wiping down each area being sure to rinse the rag each time I wipe down a section of the tub/tile surround. I also wipe down the faucet and water handle. At this point, if need be, I rinse myself again with the shower. Then, I turn off the water and quickly dry the entire shower and tub so there are no water spots. This also prevents mold and mildew. Voila! The bathroom looks so shiny and is clean for the next person who wants to take a bath or shower.
This also works to clean my husbands bath tub/shower once a week. This is so easy. The shower and tub gets clean without scrubbing! By the way, using abrasive material such as any grade of steel wool will leave scratches, even though you may not see them. It actually removes some of the slick finish of the tile or fiberglass. This in turn exacerbates the problem of water spots and soap scum build up. Hence, NEVER use abrasive material on any type of tub and shower.
If you do have a problem with soap scum, repeated use of this cleaning method will over time take care of the problem.
    Sincerely,
    Ms. Nicholson
P.S. Be sure to use a hair catcher over your drain plug. Make sure you remove the hair from the catcher before cleaning the tub and shower. Prevention of problems is the key to quickly cleaning and keeping a home clean.

The best I’ve found is The Pink Stuff. I have both types of glass (clear and this). Not true the glass is to blame. The chemical products are watered down, need janitorial strength OR reliable concentrate of natural. The challenge no one mentions is the different surfaces. Example: my shower has stainless and aluminum metals, glass, fiberglass and plastic to collectively clean. Avoiding damage to each decides the cleaning product and method. The pink stuff and non scratch scrubber is the best one stop shop I’ve found for my shower materials. Over 30 years old, it doesn’t look new but you can tell it’s well maintained. Some materials age out, including the mixer behind the knob. Tile grout will eventually need replacing. Water is the most abrasive substance on the planet and hard water permanently etches glass. Interestingly, it doesn’t etch my fiberglass window on my front loader washer. I only have to use pledge to get it looking new. So why don’t they make fiberglass shower doors?

I couldn’t be without my shower sprayer now that I have one. I suffer with chronic pain and it has made cleaning the shower so much easier. Those fibreglass doors are really frustrating to clean. I’m shocked that the steel wool didn’t scratch the surfaces of the glass and chrome.

Hi Andrea. I have just recently discovered your channel and I am loving it! I have a question regarding my shower door. The bottom of my long glass shower door has a silicone /plastic edging at the bottom which stops the water from leaking out into the bathroom, that has changed it’s color and maybe is quite dirty also. I tried cleaning it but was not successful. Cannot change the bottom part as it is stuck to the glass door really hard and pulling it might break the glass! Please help! Thanks!

Thanks for your video. A good hint I learned on how to keep your counter tops or showers from rust rings, put clear nail polish on all the can bottoms. That stops that rust problem. Getting rid of that rust ring is a problem. If you scrub too much, you make the finish dull and it absorbs stains more. Try salt and lemon juice, let it sit. Hopefully that will help.

Just wanted to point out there are LOTS of different grades of steel wool ranging from most abrasive to the least.
If you're going to use steel wool on glass or a shiny surface It MUST be the 0000 grade or it WILL scratch glass, also when you use the 0000 grade on glass don't use too much pressure or it will scratch.

The 2 problems in a shower cubicle are grease and limescale.
Both can be removed, grease first by use or the correct degreasers and inhibited limescale removal acids. Commercial premises (such as major hotels) do this all the time.
Grease and limescale can also congeal with hair, causing drainage blockages. In this case, sodium hydroxide is the best solution.
Most premises now use water softeners in hard water areas. They remove 95% of the problem.
As you pointed out, ANY abrasives will soon destroy plating and scratch both glass and ceramics. Once this happens, both corrosion and mould will soon become a problem.

Try a soap dispenser that you use to wash dishes, put dawn soap and vinegar in the dispenser. Put soap in first 1/2 way then the rest vinegar. Shake and scub. I would recommend putting the same mixture in a spray bottle and spray the glass first. Wet the glass with water then spay and wait 20 minutes. Then the dish scrubber solution. All can be bought at dollar store cheap. It works. Good luck

I always used a green scrubber, but I will try the OOOO steel wool next time. This has always outclassed anything else I have ever tried. Another neat trick for cleaning a shower door or a vehicle’s windshield is glass stovetop cleaner. Yep. These two things have cleared a lot of clutter from under the sink.

Honestly, the better solution might be to address the problem at it's source and look at getting a water softener system installed.

I have a water softener and it works for the dishwasher but the best thing it does for a shower is save your skin. I think the hot water, soap and the fact that water is abrasive on the materials used for showers are the problem, hard water only being one. Dishwashers are stainless, my washer tub is stainless and the window is fiberglass. 2 cups of bleach in a cycle cleans the tub and pledge gets the water spots off the window. Hmmm…

You might need a stronger grit steel wool pad. They're like sandpaper, they come in different Grades from fine to coarse.
Grade Number 3: This is the most abrasive grade. It is considered to be “coarse”. It can be used as the first step in the finish removal process.
Grade Number 2: This is the second most abrasive grade. It is considered to be “medium coarse.” It is used to eliminate starches in metals such as brass. It can also be used to get spots out of tile, or as an abrasive used in between coats of finish on wood floors.
Grade Number 1: This grade is used to get rid of rust on various surfaces and to remove spots on wood floors. It is considered to be “medium.” It can also be used in conjunction with chemicals such as varnish remover on wood furniture.
Grade Number 0: This grade is considered to be “medium fine.” It is used to shine brass and to clean different types of tile. It is also used as a finish remover and can be used in conjunction with finish removing chemicals.
Grade Number 00: This grade is considered to be “fine.” It is often used in conjunction with linseed oil to help produce a high-gloss finish.
Grade Number 000: This grade is considered to be “extra fine.” It can be used as an abrasive on stains or spots that exist on wood. It is also commonly used to polish various types of metals and as an abrasive that can be used between multiple layers of finish.
Grade Number 0000: This grade is considered to be “super fine.” It is the finest grade of steel wool that is available for sale in local hardware stores. It is often used to complete the final stage of rubbing out certain types of finishes. It can also be used to remove wood stains.

If you just spray your towel with CLR it will get rid of the water spots much easier and it will do the same thing with your Chrome but don't leave it on the crown for a long time because it will dull your Chrome it's not really meant for Chrome but it will get rid of the hard water spots on your glass amazingly. I am a housekeeper. Also you have guests coming over and you don't feel like getting the water spots off glass you can also use orange glow and that will cover it up when your guests come over but only for a short time before the water spots come back. Like I said use CLR to get rid of the water spots and if you want to get rid of them permanently. Use a squeegee after every shower and that will eliminate water spots even on the walls

I just bought a new house. Previously, it had renters in it for about 5 years who we're as concerned with soap scum or hard water spots. I have found the easiest way to get that all right is to first spray everything in the shower down with LA's Totally Awesome Cleaner. (Get it at Lowes...you can get it concentrated. Better value) I let it sit for about 20 to 30 minutes, then I rinsed it off. Then I used my steamer on it. Got it good with one of the brushes and scrubbed the few really bad spots tk loosen the yucky stuff on it, etc. Then I sprayed it with Awesome again. I repeated those steps basically for a day. Looks awesome!

A simple and quick method...use 1/2 dawn and 1/2 vinegar, use one of the dish scrubbers that holds the dish soap mix and has a light scrubber. quickly go over glass area, spray rinse...2 minutes done. No Gloves needed. Meantime, keep the end of toothpaste tubes, rub a tiny amount of toothpaste on chrome or other fixtures, can use old toothbrushes for crevices, spray off = shiny like new. In fact keep scrubber in shower. Both my showers have the long shower hose types, to rise off from cleaning.

I use a four capfuls of liquid dishwasher fluid in a bucket of warm water and clean my outside window with a long handle window squeegee then rinse off with water from a hose. No need to wipe dry because your windows will dry streak free. This tip was given to me years ago from a professional cleaning company employee.
