Love this, but why it is not an automatic mode for this? I think thr softwate should be able to do this on his own and even let us imput some specs like... distance between the paterns. I think that would be a perfect update for the future.
@@JLake3D I WATCHED THE VIDEO . How did you decide on the size of the hexagons to evenly space the offset of one hex to another (before you made the pattern) . You start with 7 hex ALREADY on the cylinder. But do not explain how to get those evenly spaced vertical and horizontal so that when you make the pattern they finish correctly
Ahh ok, that all depends on what you want for your project. You can make them any size. I will make you a video though since we now have the pattern tool. You can expect it later tonight ✌️
@@cardboardoperator7213 I had the same exact question and I’m sure others did you never got a proper answer. There are many great tutorials on this channel but this guy just raced through it without proper explanation.
You have to make a 2D sketch on a flat plane before you can extrude it. I did not include it in this video because if you use Shapr this is common sense. But I can see where I went wrong and I should have included that in this tutorial. I will make an updated version of this soon 👌
@@JLake3D thank you. It’s common sense how the patterns work but it’s not easy in this context on a cylinder. I’ll definitely look forward and appreciate a new updated video of this so I can make my own.
I can tell this is super easy for you, but could you slow down on some of the clicks. Had to replay to see what you did in slow mo. You got a subscriber out of me but meet me half way. Cheers!!!
Sorry for getting a little rude I’m getting so frustrated with this damn program I have 64g ram on a gaming pc and this program just locks up on anything I do

Downloading the STL and applying this to my model tonight so it burns into my brain this time! 😁 🙏
@@skyrider4789 practice practice practice. Thats how i ran into so many issues and know how fix them 😂
Also, I just read your ThingiVerse bio after looking for your patreon. I'll send some appreciation later this month.
Thanks again.

They have released the linear pattern tool, round pattern tool coming in the future. This is a temporary “fix” lol
how do you get the hexagons lines up so the evenly space around the cup
If you watch the video, i go through the entire process 😅

When I try to put a polygon on the cup it will not allow it because it says it is not a planer surface. I can only do a polygon on a flat surface.

@@JLake3D thank you that looks like it should help me get there. I’m going to do that one now.
Amazing video!! Thank you so much
Thanks! Glad it was helpful ;)
Why is it when I select all the faces and then hit the face to replace it says “the selected face cannot be replaced”
Sometimes you have to do it on sections because its too much computation, in my experience anyways.
Thank you so much!
You’re very welcome :)

Same. I just ended up making a solid cup for my pencils.
Amazing!
Are you using a tablet because I can’t move it like you do on my desktop
Yes, I use an iPad. It’s much more comfortable and the modeling is alot more natural.
Thank you for this video! Just in time for my helmet design. :)
Glad it helped ;)
@@JLake3D Hahah...I forgot about this, Oh man! Thanks again! :D :P

Its because you have to hide or delete the sketches, that’s what’s slowing down the program ✌️
Witchcraft!
I love the magic of 3D design! 🧙♂️🪄
