I worked at Subway restaurants when I was a teen. It is hard to imagine how I would have felt and reacted if I later learned that during one of my work shifts that a customer had brought a dead child into the restaurant and then ate a sandwich I made for them while they sat with the dead child. It honestly would probably have been about as traumatizing as if someone came into the restaurant to rob the place and shot my coworkers to death in front of me.

amazing how people can feel so sorry for the innocence of a child (and rightly so. don't get me wrong) but .. the same people who care so much about the innocence of a child.. will pay others to abuse torture enslave oppress and rape. and mutilate innocent baby animals..
bacon for example.. is no grown pig who had a full life.. it's a baby.

my mother was like that. She had little tolerance for the children though she always claimed that she was the best caregiver ever. Not as violent as Maryssa but still beatings out of anger were part of our daily lives. Over 85 now she is still wondering why her children are not fond of her. I think the word tolerance is the key. The perception of children being so intolerable creatures only skilled people like herself can put up with them, therefore they are supposed to be admired and appreciated for having so much "tolerance".

What do you think the chances are that a person such as Marissa would have the insight to seek out counseling to deal with her traumatic childhood and what messaging would actually reach her to get her to go into counseling? Where would she go for treatment? What kind of success rate can be expected? Or, does counseling/treatment typically come as a result of a criminal charge? I'm personally overwhelmed with the number of horrific murders happening in the world.

She has no job and no driver's license, but she still has a car and drives it anyway. They live in a disgusting mobile home and her last ex-boyfriend is in jail for molesting her six year old daughter. Can we please start sterilizing these people? Boy oh boy,. As a parent of a larger than average family, it's astounding these serial abusers still try to use the "oh the kid fell off the chair, the couch, or down the stairs" excuse. Kids are pretty durable against normal knocks, bumps, and trips. Not so much when they are attacked by a maniac. More likely Benson was colicky, hungry, may have been fed something that upset his tummy, was uncomfortable, or just needed to be changed and the murder-sitter decided her previously well-established habit of beating children's heads would resolve the situation. And who allows a brain damaged woman, who lost custody of her own children, to become the neighborhood daycare?!? This whole story is a symphony of horrible decisions.

No matter how young the child is, no matter how early in the morning-the child must be awakened and observed before she signs them in for the day.
I worked with a woman who was called during the day about her son and had to take him to the doctor only to find that his arm was broken. Thing is, she had already told me that he had cried all morning before he was dropped off and I think she was trying to pass the blame onto someone else.
