    9:26, a 3/8ths socket extension is the perfect size for the axle hole, then a 3/8ths breaker bar can be used to turn it, since this puts the torque at a 90° angle, it also helps to keep the leg from laying over in the vise.

    As an added note to the piston ring/step orientation. Your video is correct, as you are referencing the FDK 101 Mounting Instructions. My Fork Kit came with the FDK 111 Mounting Instructions, issued 2016-11-30. These specific instructions show an incorrect diagram on the Compression Rod/piston ring, on P3.1. After some research on Ohlins website, I noticed a later release of Installation Instructions for the FDK 111, dated 2017-04-24. This update shows the correct diagram of the P3.1 Compression Rod, that coincides with your video. This may avoid some confusion for those who read the instructions first.

    In the vid, the lower nut is hand tightened, the o ring positioning is checked, then the lower axle mount is screwed on and done up, then the cap with the o ring below it is done up with the hex. If that nut moves any significant distance while being tightened the o ring seal will be compromised!?
    Surely the cap should be tightened before the o ring location is checked and the lower axle mount is fitted?
    Probably makes little or no difference, just wondering out loud.

    My Grom is almost at 20K miles and I want to rebuild the forks soon. I assume this kit doesn't come with Fork seals, does it? I figure I might as well upgrade the internals if I'm going to go through the trouble of rebuilding them. Are there any other wear items to take note of besides the OEM seals?

    What a great video! Currently working on my lisence and I will be picking a grom up within a month if I am lucky:). I have never ridden one so I dont know how it feels, but I am 207 pounds so I guess this is a good investment quite early! I see you ship all over the world, thats great as I am in Norway:).

    @22:36 , I couldn’t tell if she had the supplied crush washer on the bolt, I forgot to install that. Do you think it’s a big deal? Don’t feel like taking things apart again.

    Thank you for the quick and easy sale. Just wondering on the OEM forks the piston ring that makes the difference between rebound (facing up the rod) and the compression (facing away from the rod) on the OEM both of mine were facing up the rod meaning I had two rebound forks. Well one rebound and one that was operating working properly. this would make the OEM forks real springy Correct

      That's actually normal to have the OEM ones both facing the same way...
      You just want to make sure when you install them on the Ohlins, you put them on correctly, per the instructions and Video.

    Some of this is OG specific. The SF forks do not have the same fork cap/nut.

      Correct. The SF Forks have a nut on the top so disassemble it slightly different.
      But, everything else is exactly the same for re-assemble.

      They are both great upgrades.
      The Ohlins feels better overall... and for about $130 LESS MONEY then the Race Tech.. you cannot beat the Bang for the Buck Factor.
      Ohlins Kit includes Fork Springs, and Trick Looking Billet Fork Caps, all in the same kit price.
      Race Tech sells the Fork Kit and the Springs separately. and does not offer any Billet Fork Caps.

    Can you tell me what size socket fits the Ohlins top caps? Or what you used to tighten them? I sure as hell don’t want to mar them as they’re absolutely beautiful!

      @@HardRacingPerformanc I've watched the video. I did that before asking the question. She mentions putting electrical tape to protect the caps. That's a trick I've known for years. Also she "mentions" the trick and doesn't "show" the trick. And there's no mention of the size socket needed which is a 34mm as I've gleaned from another viewer's question. It's also entirely possible you might have used something like a strap wrench instead of a steel socket. No way to know since it's not shown in the video. I've purchased goods from you and really expected a better reply. It wouldn't have been that hard to answer the question instead of simply saying "watch the video"?

      FDK101 is comes with 1 set of springs. FDK111 comes with 2 sets of springs.

    Help. Just finished the install and the forks feel very soft. I feel like I got the piston rings on correctly and followed the installation video watching it over and over and pausing for each step.

      Most likely you didn't put enough fork oil in each fork leg.
      It must be exactly as the directions show and the video state of 235 mil.

      HardRacing thanks. wanted to add a couple things that i encountered but got through for the benefit of others. the center smaller hex bolt in the middle of the fork cap can be a pain. having spun that around fifty times without it coming out, i finally gently held the inside rod with pliers and it came right out. also, with a heat gun it took a good 8-10 minutes to loosen the lock tight around the base of the forks. finally, really give that oil some time to drain, it can take a little while. better the bucket than your floor.

    Does it have to be Ohlin oil. Because it is nowhere to be found in my country. And I don't like to purchase this outside my country.
    And which one would you suggest +80KG ? 5W or 10W?

      It's recommended to use Ohlins Oil, which is a 19v. If you have to use something else, then maybe a 7.5w or 10w

      Yea it's not really important how they were on the ORIGINAL Setup.
      What matters the most is how you install them on the NEW OHLINS Fork Kit.

      ​@@robertd1436 Agreed. I'm wondering though, is the factory setup designed to have them facing the same on both legs, or was mine assembled incorrectly from factory? With both legs set up for rebound damping, it would explain some of the behavior I observed from the stock setup.

      I did the install last night. The 17 model top caps are different, but you did supply the needed snap ring and washer. Also, the rubber bumper in the top cap needs to be flipped over to fit in the Ohlins top cap. Thank you for the quick response. Love the results after install.

      Grampy Grom it doesnt need to be reversed, you can plug the rubber into the ohlin top cap. Its a bit fiddly but it works. Just wanted to let you know, i read your comment before i changed mine so i came back to let you know. I would reverse it if i were you. Grtz

      Unfortunately, they don't have any torque specs on the cap. but, since it's got an oring, you just need to synch it down tight like we show in the video.

      scott willson a LARGE Socket. . I think 27mm. But you should measure your top nut to make sure.
      Unfortunately, We don't have a stock one here any more to check, or we would.
      You can also use a pair of Channel locks.

      235 cc of Fork Oil goes into each Fork Leg. MAKE SURE you drained all the old oil out, completely.
