  • In this video I'm showing how to install the Lian Li SL120 V2 fans, including how to set them up on a radiator, where to connect them to your motherboard and more. I'm showing how to install these Lian Li fans with the wiring of individual fans and the logic of both single and triple packs, so that you can combine a whole lot of fans in your favourite case.

These fans offer improvements on the aesthetic, functionality, and performance from the original UNI FAN. These improvements include:
New and improved daisy chaining (connect 3 and 3 fans together)
    Thicker design for improved airflow
    Enhanced airflow and static pressure
Straighter edge design for improved lighting
    Smaller gap between the fans
    Enhanced specs include:
    Airflow - 64.5 CFM
    Static Pressure - 2.59 mmH2O
    Noise - 29.2 dBA
Speed - 0 RPM mode and 250-2000 RPM
"With the UNI FAN SL V2, users have the ability to bridge two clusters of fans to create a 3+3 daisy-chained cluster. These 6 fans can then be connected to a single port on the SL V2 UNI HUB controller. The new daisy-chaining solution reduces the number of cables needing to be managed at the back of the case and enables new lighting effects which can be continuous between the two bridged clusters. Please note that while each port of the SL V2 UNI HUB can support a 3+3 cluster, the maximum number of fans supported by the controller is 16. "
The fans now have 4 new effects: RENDER, TUNNEL, VOICE, and Groove.
Also as you'll see at the end there are various different synced lighting effects that you can pair with the Strimers (for example).
    Other fan specs include:
    Dimensions 120x120x28mm
Material PBT / PC / Aluminum
    Rated Voltage 12V (FAN) / 5V (LED)
    Fan Speed 0, 250 - 2000 RPM
    Air Pressure 2.59 mmH2O (Maximum)
    Airflow 64.5 CFM (Maximum)
    Acoustic Noise 29.2 dBA (Maximum)
    Locked Current 0 (Automatic Protection)
Bearing Type Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB)
    Operational Voltage DC 12C & 5V

Mr Prawn I was wondering if you could help me. I am currently trying to attach the galahad radiator to the bracket of the lian li O11D Evo and the screws were really hard to screw in when attaching the fans, but seem impossibly bigger than the holes when attaching the bracket to the radiator with the screws provided.
Is this normal and will I need to really.force those screws in or has something gone wrong with the manufacture of my product? Feels like I'm breaking it if I try to force them in and I'm not even sure they'll go in, but every video I see they just screw them in like normal screws and I'm losing my mind 😅.

One important note regarding connecting the Lian Li connector the the breakout connection on the NZXT Kraken (at approx 18:50):
You do not want to connect to the last connection in the daisy chain (as you did), you instead want to connect to the first one. If you look at the breakout connection on the NZXT Kraken, only the first of the three has all four pins. The tach pin is missing from the other two headers.
If you hook up the connection as shown in this video, your Kraken controller will never get an accurate report on the speed of the fans. It is set to automatically assume all 3 fans are the same and have the same (or close enough) tach readings, but without that first fan plugged into the first plug with the tach pin you will get improper fan speeds that can cause heat transfer issues or even potential fan damage from spinning beyond their rated RPM.

I am planning to keep the 3 fans from NZXT and 3 from Lian li on that rad.
Can I connect the fan speed controller to the CPU fan header in the montherboard ?
So for Lian li fans, rgb goes to hub and power connection to CPU fan header on montherboard.
For NZXT fans, the rgb goes to montherboard header and the power as well to Optional CPU fan header on montherboard.

@@ADraised Yes I have already built the system.
Initially I connected the Lian li fans RGB to Hub and Power to Montherboard.
That allowed montherboard (Asus) software to control the Lian li fans. Although Asus software rarely bother to spin up the Lian li fans so I connected them back to Hub.
So both Rgb and power goes to the hub. I control them with the L-Connect and keep them in quiet profile.
As for the NZXT fans, you can connect them on the connectors provided on the pump unit and control them with NZXT Cam. Again I have kept them in quiet profile.
Temps on 13900k while gaming stays in 50-65*C range while keeping the system quiet.

Do you have any suggestions for oc/uv ? I have a 7800x3d and a 7900xtx on a msi b650 edge. I play warzone on 1440p settings for higher fps. I played on steam for a week and I recently switched to battlenet. I had constant issues with steam. No problems so far with battlenet. I tried implementing some oc/uv from some youtubers I watched. My computer crashed again and again. I set it all back to default. It was disappointing.

I am doing the setup with the triple pack Lian LI SL120V2 fans and the NZXT Kraken Z73 AIO. I do not have the two pronged cable that connects with the SL120V2 fan and on the other end to RGB and PWM. So I need to purchase a single SL120V2 fan in order to do this? Lol.

    • @TheProvokedPrawn

your video helped immensely! thank you! IDK why your SL infinity fans different than mine.. my fans only have the connection that you can slide over the top and only go directly to the 4 ports, they can't connect into the other fans other than through connecting them together as a single unit, I don't seem to be able to connect two, and a third with a different cable. Nor do I seem to have any of the cables to use the sync 2/4 ports..

This is a great explanation! I’m actually gonna do the same thing however I’m going to use a push pull configuration on the top, I was wondering do I just attach the second set of three fans to the second splitter for the pump power or I think it’s called a fan control? Also on a previous video you recommended using a XSPC Radiator Fan screw 30mm, would this work for the top of the case? (Because you utilise it for the side of the case)

I heard they can get quiet loud though which is a big no for me. The other option I hear is good is the Arctic p12's but for airflow and minimal acoustics but wouldn't I have to get a butt load of controllers for 10 fans? :/ Decisions decisions.

Hey there. Great series of Vid on these. I have a couple of questions.
    1) It looks like your case it the lian li dynamic? Can I plug the RGB for the front LED strip built into the case into the Lian Li controller?
    2) If I plug the controller into the RGB header on the motherboard, in this case Asus, I assume I won't have the ability to control the RGB of each fan individually through amory crate? Its basically what it says, Aura Sync? Everything is th one color, you can't have waves going throughthe case where each individual fan lights up one after the other?
    3) If I plug the controller into the PWM fan header on the motherboard, in thise case the Asus, I assume I won't have the ability to control the speed of each fan individually through the Asus Software?
    3) I assume the Lian Li software can't control the RGB on the Asus mobo like icue can?
I am trying to cut down on the amount of RGB/Fan control apps. I already have Synapse running and would prefer to just have one more, eg Armor Crate or Lian Li's.
