    I suffer from pain in my back from time-to-time and it turmeric goes to work immediately when I add black pepper, and a drop or two of organic oil, like coconut, or olive oil.

    Been drinking tumeric tea for the last two years. I started to help relieve lower intestinal pain (diverticular pain)and it helps massively. The pain comes back if I don't drink the tea for more than two days, so I drink it daily and it seems to do the job. It's the only dietary regimen that I feel compelled to maintain due it's pronounced effect.

    When using raw honey as a sweetener, it's best to let the temperature of the tea cool to at least or below 116°F to avoid destroying the health benefits of the honey. Otherwise using regular store bought honey is just a sweetener, but great recipe! Thanks for sharing.

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it's important to be mindful about cooking or heating honey too high. Usually after blending, the temperature has come down though :)

    Thank you so much :D Just tried this recipe - OMG!!!!! MashAllah , I am going to make it daily now !!!! I used 1/2 cup sweet coconut almond milk , 1 tsp coconut butter , 1 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp ginger powder, 1 tsp cinnamon powder and honey . I blended it all using my coffee mixer device. Blended it right in !!! Very ayurvedic ... therapeutic indeed. :) I want to top it off with Saffron next :)

      When using whole fresh turmeric, you don't need to add black pepper as the root contains active compounds that help with the absorption of the beneficial curcuminoids! The beauty of whole foods :)

I use grass fed milk or any other milk ,add thinly grated raw turmeric and ginger and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes and then strain it .I have this with half tsp of course ground pepper. We take it very night .They say adding pepper makes bi availability by 2000 times .and I personally feel that it benefits by drinking in night

      That's amazing! So glad you're enjoying it Reena!
      If you're using fresh turmeric, you actually don't need the black pepper though! The whole fresh turmeric has a lot of phytonutrients like turmerones that aid in the absorption of the curcumin. But if you like the spicy taste of it, by all means, go for it! :)

      Scott, yes it does. From one bee keeper website I found, it was advised not to heat it up above 95F because then honey starts losing its properties. I was never a fan myself of leaving honey in hot tea, I eat it on the side.

    • @joyoushealth

      Where do you live? You're lucky! I live in Toronto, Canada and fresh turmeric is not easy to find for the average person here because it doesn't grow locally. I just go to my local health food store to find it, but if you live in a rural area, you'd have a tough time finding it. Ginger on the other hand, is very easy to find even though it's not local it's just used much more often than turmeric so big box grocery stores import it.

    can you tell me if you use the fresh turmeric and ginger what are the portions?

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use either! I like to use fresh as much as possible since it comes with a wealth of other nutritious benefits from the phytonutrients in it but it will work with either. You can find the recipe here: www.joyoushealth.com/26656-blog-super-easy-turmeric-ginger-tea

    What can we use besides coconut oil say if we don’t have any? Because I heard fats do help with absorption. Thank you.

    YES! You must add a pinch of black pepper, for a better absorbing!! 😉

    I had made some with 1 tsp grated Turmeric root & 1 tsp chopped ginger, 1 tsp Coconut oil & 1/4 tsp Cayenne pepper boiled in 1 & 1/4 Cup water &the spice mixture majorly burned the roof of my mouth & throat. It was horrible & I was horrified!! Did it burn so much because of the pepper? I was using it to help my thyroid & for weight loss. I see it's been a while since anyone posted on this video. I hope someone sees my question & lets me know. Thanks for any help.

      Olga Miller oh my goodness that sounds terrible, I’m sorry to hear you had this experience. Do you mean you physically burned your mouth from the heat? Or do you mean it was just too spicy for you? If you had really potent cayenne and very fresh pepper that could have been why it was too spicy for you or perhaps it’s just a personal preference, it’s hard to say. I haven’t experienced that but that doesn’t mean your experience is not valid. Maybe try half of all the amounts next time. Even ginger is spicy!

    • @olgamiller216
      @olgamiller216 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Way too spicy & the burning sensation was horrible! Was that due to the Cayenne, Turmeric or Ginger? All 3 together or should I remove the pepper? One thing for sure, I can't drink it "as is". Do you have any suggestions?

    Why would you strain it if you used powdered spices?

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There is still a bit of grit. If you don't mind it, then don't bother straining just keep stirring it as your drinking it.

    I heard from my neighbor who's from India, that you should never use boiled water that it should be luke warm... Is this true,,????

    • @joyoushealth
      @joyoushealth  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wilfredo Diaz you can let the water cool a bit before combining but to get it hot I like to boil it. You can certainly do luke warm if you like.

      Elizabeth Winkelman that was actually ginger I added but I said “turmeric” by accident. Thanks for catching that! You can find the recipe instructions here: www.joyoushealth.com/26656-blog-super-easy-turmeric-ginger-tea
