    That looks awesome! Great job! Little tip...cover a bowl with plastic wrap, then put the foam on. When you remove the bowl, your ember pile will be hollow, allowing you to change the lights for different effects, or maintenance. I like 2 strings, one solid, one blinking.

  • @brianmorel
    @brianmorel 7 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    Oh man, this is AWESOME!! I've been using wood and a string that has these simulated "flame" bulbs and it looks okay from a few feet away. BUT THIS!! With this I can also attach a hose to connect to a fog machine! Can't wait! THANK YOU!!
    PS, if you spray this foam onto Parchment Paper, it will peel RIGHT OFF when it dries.

    Shimmering Christmas lights would add a nice effect too

    I was thinking , and not to put it down at all, but if the orange lights had a twinkle to them it would give the fire movement. Love this idea , thanks

    I love how this turned out! 💖 FYI - Walmart has their own brand of spray foam that's even cheaper, and I actually prefer it for craft projects, because it expands a little bit more. I initially bought their version when I was making a faux "rock" base under a life-sized Iron Throne from Game of Thrones and needed a LOT of foam, so I figured it was worth a try, but it ended up working so well that it's honestly been my personal "go-to" spray foam ever since! 😉😁

    Absolutely ingenious and so clever! I'm not sure what else to say that hasn't already been said. I'm a creative guy and this is the kind of thing that makes me step back and say, "Now why didn't I think of that." Can't wait to try it for myself. Thanks!

  • @WordUnheard
    @WordUnheard 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    That is very creative. To make it even more realistic, I'm going to burn parts of the sticks (letting them go out and cool off afterwards, of course) before throwing them onto the foam.

    • @eledatowle7128
      @eledatowle7128 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You don't even need to actually burn them... Just spray the part of the stick nearest the coals with the black spray paint for a charred look.

    Anyone else realize that the lights give off heat. Keeping that insulated and on top of cardboard is asking for a fire. Please all, be careful especially if your leaving it on a long time or putting it indoors.

    This was great! And really easy as well. I'm going to try and do this, especially for my Winter Solstice celebration. Just a wild thought, what if you have a cavity on the bottom, then somehow cut slits in the foam. Then hot glue some red, orange, and yellow pieces of fabric cut out in the shape of flames. The last thing you would do is a fix a small fan in cavity. Turn on the fan and the fan air would simulate flames. I just thought of this as I was watching your video. Again, this was great.

    Awesome job! I made one of these for our witch's cauldron. I used red LEDs and a leftover piece of that rubber gym floor snap together tile to mount it on, it looks good but I think I went to heavy on the paint because it's not as bright as yours.

    USE LED LIGHTS ONLY. LEDs don't heat up, typical string lights (aka Christmas lights) do.
