I put 80 hours into the demo and farmed 80 mythic cookies (20% exp boost for 10 minutes), I'm ready! I actually enjoyed those 80 hours more than my 80 hours in FF7.
This is "chicken soup for the soul" for those of us whom loved the older jrpg's of the 90's. With any luck one day we can see other classics get a updated release like the Suikoden series, or the Grandia series, or the Wold Arms Series, or games like Chrono games, or Legend of Dragoon. One can only hope. This game was a joy.
I am a little worried that this game might be lost in the shuffle considering how close it is to the release of the FF7 remake. It looks like a much better job compared to the dull Secret of Mana remake and it would be a shame to see it overlooked.
@@NoisyPixelNews For me this remake overlooks the FF7 one (but don't get me wrong, I find the FF7 Remake interesting, but is not my priority at the moment unlike Trials of Mana, which I should be able to play it this Friday on my Switch since I pre ordered the game in the E-shop).
Im praying it does good, it looks so beautiful and The Mana series is one of my all time favorite. I have it pre ordered but with the slow amazon response lately im not sure ill get it in time :(.
It can be a pain, but let's hope you get it in time (in my case I pre ordered the Switch version via E-shop so... is supposed to be playable this Friday that way).
Nice review! The demo was so cool and I am so happy they changed the gameplay in such ways it's easier to play. I found the game real cute and I am glad the reviews on the web so far are positive (compared to the remake of Secret of Mana).
This game I have for my Nintendo Switch and I enjoy it! I beat my first playthrough on Hard mode with Kevin as my main with Riesz and Charlotte as my two secondary characters! I beat it during two Wednesdays ago and that weekend from Saturday night up to Sunday afternoon played the post endgame content where I got my characters to Class 4 and took down Anise unlocking New Game Plus mode! I'm currently on my second playthrough on Easy mode this time with Duran as my main with Angela and Hawkeye as my two secondary characters! There I'm currently on Beuca Island!
Fuck. I couldn't even finish DQ XIS during this lockdown. Already 80 hrs in, probably 60% through the game and I heard it has lots of post game content. And now drops Trials of Mana
There are higher difficulties. I will say that for the sake of getting through the game in a timely manner, I had to lower the difficulty to easy for one of the boss battles. - Azario
This game was one of my favorites back in the day, but I'm not interested in a remake that doesn't change things up. The gameplay also hasn't aged well at all, it was very simple then and viewed through a modern lens is moreso now.
and just inexplicable design decisions. why do i have forty abilities and only enough slots to actually use like 6 of them? Even when you get the first class change you double that to 12 and by then you have just as many more abilities. it makes level ups feel worthless because i can't use any of the cool stuff i unlock
also whenever i skip a dialogue option it skips an entire scene and i've missed numerous things this way because I don't want to read Charlotte's stupid dialogue and voice acting
"my name's Hawkeye and it's my life's mission to deal with the villain in the next room! Ok bye, good luck fighting the villain!" - wtf storytelling is lazy as hell

This is a must buy for me. I enjoyed the demo. I made sure I finished FFVII before this came out. What a great couple of weeks for rpgs.

Tried the demo. If this is a 9/10 Ys Lacrimosa of dana it s a 50/10..Ys 8 it s a real 9/10...

Game on hard is nothing like souls games. Still a really great game though!

I'm at the ghost ship and i'm REALLY feeling the drag of repetition and terrible writing/plotting/dialogue. not sure if i can continue

This game is great if you skip the dialogue. The story and voice acting makes this game looks like a 9 dollar trash game whilest the gameplay is great
