I love watching her discover Incubus for the first time! I discovered them at 19 - I’m 42 now. This is my fave song and fave album… there’s really nothing like it. Brandon Boyd does have an “anytime” voice. I’ve seen them in concert more times than I can count, and they NEVER disappoint. Fave band of all time! ❤
My fave has to be Sick Sad Little World, from A Crow Left Of The Murder album. That album and the Light Grenades album are my favourite albums, but all their songs and albums are soooooo good.🥰💚
@GreenPie69 dude the solo for sick sad little world is Soooo gooood. Then it gets into pistola which is an extremely fun song but the lyrics are the best part. I skipped school to go buy crow when it came out lol
So cool hearing professional analysis of things that were just a glimmer of emotional awareness for me at age ~14. Looking forward to more Incubus! Reminds me of two other bands with amazing vocals that I got into around that time: *Mr Big* and *Tonic.* I still go back to them all the time when I want to hear some incredible singing. Anyone else?
Totally! I remember buying it when it came out, I was around 15. I listened to it on repeat for mooooonths. Especially loved passing out high to it. Especially later into the album. Would definitely put it in my top 5 most important albums of my early maturing years.
I just saw them live for the first time in June. For a band that's been playing as long as they have, they essentially never deviated from the album versions of the songs. It was surprising and incredible, but not in a bad way. They do sound a bit "empty" compared to the fullness of the album mix, but that's just proof that they're playing everything live. Go see them if you have the chance.
Yeah, Jose and Mike are just crazy talented. They are near perfect live. I can forgive a vocalist missing here and there, especially with fatigue or strain, but Incubus musically nails it live every time.

Such a great band. Criminally underrated. Lyrically it's a beautiful song. "The sky resembles a black lit canopy with holes punched in it". More Incubus please!
His lyrical imagery puts you right next to that sparkling blue blanket of water, that star filled black sky, and feeling out of control and weightless on a rollercoaster. Not to mention his voice is pure perfection. Truly great song in every way possible!!
You just brought a 48 year old man to tears. That was a favourite song of mine during a very turbulent time of my life and to see the emotion and thorough enjoyment on your face is so moving to see. Thank you so much
The whole album of Morning View is incredible. I still listen to the whole thing in one sitting over 20 years later. It’s a great example of a perfect, timeless record.
Incubus was the side track of a lot of our high school years. At no point were they ever my favorite band in high school, but they always 'made the playlist' to use the modern terms. They are one of those bands like REM that just kinda have this timeless quality to them where their music sounds as good to you at 35 as it did when you were 15. This song, (even more so Pardon me) is really really deeply rooted in my memories with more than a tinge of nostalgia. Honestly I kinda regret not appreciating how awesome it was being young when Incubus, SOAD, Tool, Deftones, etc were all active and in peak form.
I agree with everything you said, except for the "not my favorite band" part, because they were absolutely one of mine! Not that your experience is somehow 'less than' or anything at all, but definitely awesome to just share the same sentiments even if our liking of them was at different levels :D
100%. First I was surprised that I knew every word and melody in this song after not having heard it for so long. Then I thought back to high school and was like, nah, that makes sense!
It’s like a parent watching a child open up a gift on Christmas. Knowing what’s coming in the song, I get so excited to watch her reaction. That’s why I love these videos!
Incubus, one of the most underrated bands ever. They have so much more talent than they ever got credit for. One thing about his singing style that I don't hear many people talk about is his "runs." when he is on a note, he can hold it clear and long, but often he changes pitch up and down quickly but smoothly in a way it's hard to specify what is happening. I don't know what to call it, but listen as he sings, he raises and drops pitch quickly but super smoothly within his notes. (finished watching, you did mention this, so thanks for noticing!)
Theyre like the definition of a musicians band. They saw some great popularity late 90s/early 00s but they've never gone out of style with the music nerds
To me, Brandon has always seemed like a guy who really feels what he sings. You can tell the sentiments are genuine, and you can't help but close your eyes and sway with the dude. I've loved Incubus since they were starting out, and it's always like returning to an old friend when you come back to them.
He is a really underrated rock singer. Incubus kinda gets an unfair rep because they were just so good and radio-friendly with some of their catalog as they found their footing. But it's not fair. Their first two albums were almost a funk/punk/nu-metal Mashup. Then they found mainstream success for a couple albums, then the lineup changed a bit and they kinda fell off, but their albums from "Fungus Among Us" through "Morning View" were straight fire.
Mike Einzinger, the guitarist, is a composer. And I believe classically trained. He's done a few movie soundtracks with full symphonies. He adds so much depth to his "normal" rock songs it makes it amazing to listen to.
One thing I always noticed about Brandon's singing was that he's always seems relaxed. He may be dancing around and moving but his singing has nothing forced in it, even hitting high notes. He makes it seem like he can sing all day without breaking a sweat. Amazing band!
Watching someone fall in love with Brandon's voice is funny. Seen it happen so many times. I met them all backstage prior to their concert, for a meet and greet I was gifted for a birthday a few years ago. One of my best birthday presents ever received. They were all very cool and chilled out and still interacted nicely with their fans, posing with us for tons of photos etc.
Mikey is the shit. I would consider him the not so secret secret weapon of Incubus, but all the other guys are just amazing as well. Incredible players, all of them (Don't know much about DJing, but I'm sure Kilmore is also great at what he does, plus he learned the piano later on to contribute further) So, given that Mikey's guitar playing is obviously full of amazing textures and soundscapes, I'd award Jose the honourable title of Secret Weapon, bc fewer people pay attention to the drums, but they are a super important factor in the enjoyment of a song
I feel like you would TRULY appreciate Dig... Brandon's vocal range is much more on display in this one, and shows how much his voice matures over a relatively short period of time. (4 years)... His growth as a vocalist is truly incredible. Being a fan of theirs for 25ish years, I've got to hear them grow SO much.
Omg... Incubus is SUCH a good, underrated band. their writing is just SO creative, and their Mike's guitar voicings are so funky and imaginative. and Brandon's voice is just fire. They started out as a funk band, then went into nu-metal and then mellowed out, so there's tons of different iterations of Incubus.
I wouldn't really say they were a "funk" band or a "nu metal" band, their earlier stuff was funkier but they were always rocky and they never were really nu metal either imo. But I agree in that they are awesome.
Mike was one of, if not the top influence of my guitar playing growing up. He got me so interested in the technical side of sound and layering effects. As for Brandon - he has such a pure voice. His live vocals are nearly identical to album recordings - if not better. After hearing so many groups live and how the vocals change slightly, it was incredible to hear how unaffected Brandon sounded.
Cheers 🍻 to that. When my then girlfriend played it for me for the first time, my mind was blown. Then she took me to an incubus concert when I saw Echo performed live for the first time. Been hooked ever since, and she’s never left my side yet.
You would love so many of their songs! Check out “Drive” or “Stellar” or “Pardon Me” or “Warning” or “I Miss You” next. Brandon Boyd has one of the best voices in rock! Their studio versions have absolutely beautiful mixes too 👍🏻
"Dig" is also another really good song of theirs I'd add to the list. And yeah, that one and "Pardon Me" have long been my favorites from them. And the instrumental parts of "Wish You Were Here".
I always feel like the verses are a calm ocean and then a big wave hits you in the chorus. Incubus always have epic middle eight sections. Goosebumps every time I hear it. They are one of my favourite bands.
Anna Molly is an INCREDIBLE Incubus song for its vocals.... there's something MAGICAL about the rhythm and cadence of that song. the music is beautiful, eerie, exciting all at the same time!
Brandon's voice is like butter. A really good showcase of his smoothe vocals is the song Aqueous Transmission. It's incredible. So happy you're covering Incubus now!
Saw these guys on their “Morning View” album tour, and it was an incredible show. Having floor seats made me feel like I was in a living room watching these guys jam out. The sound scapes they create are fantastic. Their guitarist, Mike Einziger, is very talented and underrated, imo.
Saw them on their A Crow Left of the Murder tour in summer 2004 when I was 16-it was such an amazing show! Edited to add, I just looked up the set list, and it was great. 1. Megalomaniac 2. Nice to know you 3. Idiot box 4. Just a phase 5. Priceless 6. Beware! Criminal 7. Wish you were here 8. Here in my room 9. Drive 10. Vitamin 11. Pistola 12. Stellar 13. De do do do, de dad da da (police cover) 14. Favorite things 15. Talk shows on mute 16. Sick sad little world 17. A certain shade of green Encore 18. Are you in? 19. Pardon me
They blew up when I was in high school and I remember all of these teenage girls just going crazy over Incubus. Great voice, good looks, and youthful. They have their own little corner of the late 90's / early 00's Alternative Rock scene.
Brandon and this band are absolutely original and genuine, they can play almost anything...Brandon has a warm and cool voice, and the lyrics are very deep... One of my favorite bands ever!! Cool video ❤
@@singularitywatch me too! Been my favorite band for 20 years, took my daughter to see them last year and it was so awesome to experience that with her for the first time.
Their live shows are amazing, his voice is always on point. Other great songs are Warning, Pardon me, Pistola, Dig, Anna Molly, Promises promises, Defiance, Megalomaniac, Drive and Stellar
YES! Brandon Boyd is the reason I became a singer - lyrically, his writing resonated with a young me and saved me from a dark place. I'm so happy to see this on the channel and fingers crossed you can review more, or maybe even have a little tea time talk? x
I've been an Incubus fan since I was 13 (36 now) and this was a breath of fresh air. I've watched this performance a million times and the excitement you showed is contagious and it's making me notice things I didn't and wasn't able before. I've fallen in love with this band again. Thanks for this.
Her enthusiasm is so contagious. And I think fans of Incubus or whatever band she's currently listening to will really appreciate it. Probably why she has so many subs, she's awesome.
I first saw them on MTv as a young girl and I didn’t know why I just loved the vibe, the voice, the Boyd. I thought it was beautiful, I was watching “Drive.” So, I promised myself I’d watch them when I grew up and after years of missing their concerts, I’m gonna to finally be at their concert this 25th of April. 🥹✨
You were able to articulate every single reason why this song is beloved by its fans. It is genuinely atmospheric and ethereal, and it transports you into another dimension. Much like Tool, Deftones and Pink Floyd 🖤🤘🖤
Hearing it again, it had a heavy Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath influence. Probably because they were there when it was recorded. Jimmy Page drove that sound. I don't think it was for admiration of Floyd, more of what Jimmy wanted to do with a synthesizer. My musical opinion..... the lyrics could have been more crafted and refined. But really, this was all recorded live and improvised. Going for melody and harmony rather than poetry.
Incubus has been my favorite band since I was 15. I’m 39 now and my wife and I have seen them in concert multiple times in our 20 years together. I know nothing about singing but what you describe in this video is why I love them. Brandon’s voice is smooth as silk. I have issues with auditory processing so I struggle to hear lyrics correctly most times; however, with Brandon’s enunciation and clarity, I can understand his amazing, descriptive lyrics. The instruments are layered and build so well. Their sound is crystal clear and well organized while retaining the ability to get a chaotic when the time is right! Great job in your review! I enjoyed watching you experience my favorite band and top 5 songs!
That's really interesting... I also really don't _hear_ lyrics when I listen to music unless I really force myself to focus on them, my brain just makes it another Instrument layer (They really seperate into layers/tracks in my head... Not a bit synesthetic too are you? ;)
This is the reaction I come back to often, I really think you were hard before but you start melting little by little and it is such a fascinating thing to watch like you are embracing the beauty that is surrounding you and you are now getting so lost you are one with the music
I just saw them last sunday. Brandons voice hasnt changed. They are amazing live. They are so tight and precise. Mike (guitarist) is an incredible human. One of the best live shows I've seen 20 years ago and last week.
I've watched a fair few versions of your reacts and I think this is my favourite. When you first discover Brandon's voice, to how the song comes together, the different instruments. Then there are parts you can't help but get absorbed in like 8:03, 11:00, 16:02, 20:50. It's really natural and nice to watch your appreciation and involvement in both song and artist.
I had a big Incubus phase. They felt so fresh and still are, there is something unique about their sound, can't pinpoint what exactly due to lack of musical knowledge.
Tempo, simplicity, ambience, melody, major keys with minor moments, jazz, positive lyrics, great singing, etc. They’re not trying to do too much or be too dark. Good mood band
Incubus and Red Hot Chili Peppers just have a vibe about them that no other bands have ever recreated. Just like a feeling of a time in the late 90s early 00s on the west coast of America.
If you like Incubus but aren't familiar with their album titled S.C.I.E.N.C.E. this is something special that doesn't usually hit mass production. It was when the band decided to treat musical genres as if their individual pieces on the musical Rubik's cube and tried many combinations that they thought were interesting. Definitely a must listen for anybody who likes the sound Incubus creates.
I’ve mentioned it before but you should also check out protest the hero and their song tandem. Talk about moving lyrics matched with an amazingly powerful voice
I think one of Brandon Boyd’s most underrated vocal performances is the song “Here In My Room.” It’s a beautiful song that really highlights his range, and there’s a great live recording of it on here.
I love Incubus!!! Brandon has amazing vocal control and range! Dig is my favorite song, but PLEASE do more Incubus because they have so many great songs!
I’m so glad you discovered Incubus! They are absolutely magical. One of my all-time favorite bands. Now, if you really want to experience his incomparable level of control, listen to their song “Mexico”. PS. You might also want to give Tantric a listen, starting with their first big hit, Breakdown.
I think it’s called Morning View, but I know what you meant. I loved the album when it came out and got made fun of for it compared to their first few. Time tells that it is probably their best album.
I CANT BELIEVE IM JUST NOW SEEING THIS!!! This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I literally wrote a paper analyzing this piece in 2002. I’m so excited to see you discovering it!
You would LOVE their song "Just a Phase". AMAZING vocal performance both melody and harmony wise. Of all of the suggestions Ive seen, I'd definitely check this one out!
You were curious about this performance’s accuracy to the record. They’re usually extremely record accurate accept for acoustic sets. Brandons voice, the DJ fx, the guitar voicing, Jose’s drum sticking, the whole nine. They are incredible live and very tight. Incubus has been my favorite band since the 90’s. Underrated…or at least under appreciated by the mainstream. Eh, who cares what they think, these guys guys have a massive dedicated fan base who knows what’s what. Love the channel 😊 PS. Here’s an early welcome to becoming a huge Incubus fan 😂
The poetry in this particular song is astonishing for a rock band. It's the first thing that made me notice Incubus. That and the really liquid and elastic vocals.
Its like I'm hearing some of my favorite songs with new ears when I watch this channel. The breakdown and attention to detail from a musician so well educated and talented is epic. Songs I've heard thousands of times feel exciting and new. The unadulterated joy you feel and your passion for music is contagious. I'm sure that's all been said before but its true. So thanks.
The great part about Incubus is that many of the songs from album to album sound very different. I'm glad you enjoyed this particular song so much, it made a huge impact on me as a kid.
Incubus is one of my favorite bands of ALL time and this and Aqueous Transmission and Dig are some of my favorite songs of theirs. They’re so ethereal and stunning. It feels like just being drawn out gently into space and just floating. I love them so much and Brandon’s voice is so beautiful, and his looks match 🥰
Yes! "Dig" is such an emotionally sincere song. Like a hymn. Seriously great lyrics. Makes me want to be a better person. I could hear that once a day and never get sick of the message.
Love Incubus and been to many, many shows over the years. This was fun to watch someone discover and truly appreciate the band and Brandon. Their chemistry and catalog are always a part of my musical day. Their later albums have matured fantastically along with their talents and skill. Go see them live, even now 25 years post Morning View, they are amazing. (I'm wearing a concert tee right now!!!)
I truly believe that Incubus was one of the most underrated bands of that Genre, mostly because there were so many brilliant bands during that time. But musically they were were amazing and really unique. I've seen then live several time dating back to this era. Morning View Sessions is one of my favorites and got me through a very difficult period in my life too.
I haven't seen anyone mention "Just a phase" from their Morning View session and it may be my favorite Incubus song. You get a full range of his voice and the performance is unreal; highly recommend!
The whole album Morning View was written when they basically all lived in a house on the beach for a year and just worked on the album. So much chill vibes even with the “heavier” stuff. Such a great album start to finish.
Yes! I love watching these because she has the words to describe the things I like about songs that I don’t have. I’d say “this cool because it’s like ‘wish yoooooou were here.’” And she’s like “when he sings the chorus there’s an airy butterness.” I didn’t realize it, but that’s what I wanted to say. LOL.
I love when there is such harmony in a band it's not just the singer it's also the musicians the sounds they make and how all sounds and vocal go smoothly together to make a song and like in every profession you find people who just work and some other people who not just work but they are artists in what they do
I've listened to this song a million times. If I wasn't watching the video I'd think I was listening to the album version.... Holy spot on live performance!
Been to a lot of live performances, seen incubus for the first time a few years back. Easily top 3 of the best live performances. He sounds identical to the studio recordings. Love it ❤
I love watching her discover Incubus for the first time! I discovered them at 19 - I’m 42 now. This is my fave song and fave album… there’s really nothing like it. i agree. a great album. love them live. awesome performance. love these guys
I discoverd them at 33 and still listen to them on my playlist at 63 ! ❤
My favorite song of theirs is Pardon Me. If you liked Incubus enough to consider doing another song, I hope you pick Pardon Me.
I LOVED this song! I will for sure want to do more Incubus in the future, this was incredible!
My fave has to be Sick Sad Little World, from A Crow Left Of The Murder album.

Incubus is great. Man.

It's among my favorite albums. In a sad mood I can listen, in a good mood as well. It's has so much energy on it. You just got love it

The most impressive part about this performance is how incredibly close it is to the studio version. Top tier performance.
Exactly what I was going to say! Spot on rendition.

Dude you hit the nail on the head. I share your sentiment 100 percent.
I agree with everything you said, except for the "not my favorite band" part, because they were absolutely one of mine! Not that your experience is somehow 'less than' or anything at all, but definitely awesome to just share the same sentiments even if our liking of them was at different levels :D
Absolutely... Crunchy groove man
100%. First I was surprised that I knew every word and melody in this song after not having heard it for so long. Then I thought back to high school and was like, nah, that makes sense!
100% agree and the same situation.
Nothing beats hearing an amazing song for the first time, than watching someone else hear it for the first time.
For real.. I loved this for her. 🥹🙃
Right?! I love that I stumbled upon this channel
Not only does he have a BEAUTIFUL voice, he is one of the most gorgeous men in rock in my opinion. I had such a crush on him back in the day ❤
So did i... and I'm not even gay 😂
Same here👋🏻
I'm still crushing on him all these years later 😍
Im so in love with him😂
bro is beautiful
It melts me seeing someone else experiencing Incubus for the first time the same as I did. They will forever be my favorite band.
It’s like a parent watching a child open up a gift on Christmas. Knowing what’s coming in the song, I get so excited to watch her reaction. That’s why I love these videos!
They have something nobody else ever will
I know right. Such and amazing thing to randomly and unexpectedly be watching in 2023. Brightened my day for sure.
I said almost the same thing. When you see someone Enjoy Incubus for the first time...this is the cutest video.
This
Incubus, one of the most underrated bands ever. (finished watching, you did mention this, so thanks for noticing!)
totally, i think they are the best
That’s one of my favorite things about Brandon’s voice! He has some pretty ass runs.
To paraphrase you, his vocal quality is amazingly beautiful in a way that's "hard for me to specify." :)
@@boddaboom77 Their album S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is so rad. I love "Glass" from that album.
Mike Einzinger, the guitarist, is a composer. And I believe classically trained. He's done a few movie soundtracks with full symphonies. He adds so much depth to his "normal" rock songs it makes it amazing to listen to.
He does NOT get enough mention!
Correct me if im wrong but didnt he also work with childish gambino?
@@DiSxJohnyyeah, also he was the compositor of one of the greatest EDM hits of the 2010s with Avicii: Wake Me Up. He's a musical gift.
@@Itzzy515not just that but he also plays for Hans Zimmer.
THIS RIGHT HERE!!! MIKEY IS A FREAKING BEAST!!!
Brandon Boyd is an amazing singer. His lyrics are also often very thoughtful and well written.
Let’s not forget Mike’s underrated vocal harmonies.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Preach
i agree to the max with this comment
Tightest of tight.
The whole band is noteworthy
Make Yourself was a revolutionary album. Incubus was something special in rock music. Mike Einziger is a wholly underrated guitarist.
One of my favorite albums all time ❤
Whole heartedly agree- one of the best guitarist there is and extremely innovative
Mikey is the shit. I would consider him the not so secret secret weapon of Incubus, but all the other guys are just amazing as well. Incredible players, all of them (Don't know much about DJing, but I'm sure Kilmore is also great at what he does, plus he learned the piano later on to contribute further)
So, given that Mikey's guitar playing is obviously full of amazing textures and soundscapes, I'd award Jose the honourable title of Secret Weapon, bc fewer people pay attention to the drums, but they are a super important factor in the enjoyment of a song
@@muenchhausenmusicJose is definitely the secret weapon, what a beast of a drummer 👍
Mike is an amazing guitarist. Feel, tone, riffs, top tier
Dig is a really nice song.
Seconded - hearing Dig affects me in such a big way and I can't really explain why. His voice and the song itself just gives me all the feels.
Dig definitely is a great tune that displays Brandon's range. My favorite song of theirs
Dig. Incubus. Live from look alive 🎉
Dig is great. I love Are you in as well.
This is all extremely true! Love them like crazy!!
@@buttsbuttsbutts68 Yup, Primus mixed with Faith No More
Underrated? They were huge in the 90s/2000s. Unknown to new generation maybe, but certainly never underrated.
Aqueous Transmission has always been my favorite Incubus track. Such a cool sound. Incubus is so unique and great.
👌👌
Absolutely 💯
Cheers 🍻 to that. When my then girlfriend played it for me for the first time, my mind was blown. Then she took me to an incubus concert when I saw Echo performed live for the first time. Been hooked ever since, and she’s never left my side yet.
It's such a great track to turn on when you need to just have a minute to breathe and calm yourself. It's a meditation in itself
Yes finally some incubus! “Nice to know you” and “11 am” are more of my favorites from them 🔥🔥🔥
I like Summer Romance and the acoustic version of A Certain Shade of Green
You would love so many of their songs! Check out “Drive” or “Stellar” or “Pardon Me” or “Warning” or “I Miss You” next. Brandon Boyd has one of the best voices in rock! Their studio versions have absolutely beautiful mixes too 👍🏻
drive, stellar and pardon me got me through high school. whole album is amazing
I Miss You +100000000
Science was their best album ever made imo
"Dig" is also another really good song of theirs I'd add to the list.
And yeah, that one and "Pardon Me" have long been my favorites from them. And the instrumental parts of "Wish You Were Here".
I miss you for that breath control on that long you. I used to practice that for hours
I always feel like the verses are a calm ocean and then a big wave hits you in the chorus. Incubus always have epic middle eight sections. Goosebumps every time I hear it. They are one of my favourite bands.
Bro…… 👏🏼
I read that as, 'the verses are a calm ocean and then a big wave hits you in the Incubus'. Then my brain caught up.
Incubus got me into some good music when I was 12 playing guitar hero, thank you Brandon Boyd 🤝🏻💯💯
Anna Molly is an INCREDIBLE Incubus song for its vocals.... there's something MAGICAL about the rhythm and cadence of that song. the music is beautiful, eerie, exciting all at the same time!
the music video is unnerving as well ! shivers!
OMG!!! LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE THAT SONG!!
It’s hard to go wrong with Incubus. Drive and Warning are also really good songs with thoughtful lyrics.
There’s something so warm and comforting about Incubus’ songwriting and especially with Brandon’s voice! Please do more Incubus!!!
This has been my favorite band since I was 10 years old, it’s been 23 years. Watching someone fall in love with them is bringing me such joy.
Brandon's voice is like butter. A really good showcase of his smoothe vocals is the song Aqueous Transmission. It's incredible. So happy you're covering Incubus now!
I found a 3-hour looping version of Aqueous Transmission and I just put that on sometimes in the background when I need to chill out.
Saw these guys on their “Morning View” album tour, and it was an incredible show. Having floor seats made me feel like I was in a living room watching these guys jam out. The sound scapes they create are fantastic. Their guitarist, Mike Einziger, is very talented and underrated, imo.
Would’ve loved to have experienced that!!
Saw them on their A Crow Left of the Murder tour in summer 2004 when I was 16-it was such an amazing show!
Edited to add, I just looked up the set list, and it was great.

Their live shows are so simple yet so perfectly executed. A band and music that just stands up all by itself. My favourite band of all time.
I've seen them 4 times. Greatest live show I've ever seen. Every. Single. Time.
Except the poser crowd
@@singularitywatch me too! Been my favorite band for 20 years, took my daughter to see them last year and it was so awesome to experience that with her for the first time.
1:01 That "ooh" is a sign that you will love their album Morning View in its entirety. Those sounds are so iconic from that album.
I thought that “ooh” was her becoming every teenage girl in 1999 when they saw Brandon Boyd for the first time 😆
The "Morning View" album is a vocal showcase!
It’s really a perfect album

Their live shows are amazing, his voice is always on point. Other great songs are Warning, Pardon me, Pistola, Dig, Anna Molly, Promises promises, Defiance, Megalomaniac, Drive and Stellar
Under my Umbrella!
And Love Hurts
ANNA MOLLY is one song that has a lot to talk about
I think it's kind of impossible to make a bad list of Incubus songs. And if you start making a good list, it's hard to stop adding songs to it.
I have been in love with this man’s voice and music for twenty years and to see you witness the magic for the first time seriously made my day. 😍
Brandon is honestly one of the goats, so expressive and precise you really feel what he is putting down.
Same. Do you feel as old as I do?
Saw them live about 6 months ago, they STILL sound like the album live. Even after this much time.
They’re SOOOOOO good live! It’s life-changing.
Watching you fall in love with Incubus and Brandon’s vocals brought me so much joy. I did not expect that from this video at all.
I just saw them last sunday. Brandons voice hasnt changed. They are amazing live. They are so tight and precise. Mike (guitarist) is an incredible human. One of the best live shows I've seen 20 years ago and last week.
They made such a swift change from S.C.I.E.N.C.E. and it was quite magical and melodic, with a few remnants from the past.
Still one of their best albums tho.
S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is an incredible album.
@@hegemonycricket2182 By far their best. Crazy creativity.
Certain Shade of Green is one of my favorite songs ever
they made a major change BEFORE SCIENCE too. Fungus Amongus is practically Primus
Over 20 years later, I'm still in the phase
If you like Incubus but aren't familiar with their album titled S.C.I.E.N.C.E. this is something special that doesn't usually hit mass production. It was when the band decided to treat musical genres as if their individual pieces on the musical Rubik's cube and tried many combinations that they thought were interesting. Definitely a must listen for anybody who likes the sound Incubus creates.
Yep, that’s my favourite album of theirs, a certain shade of green, redefine and vitamin are absolute bangers!
S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Is a brilliant album! My friends and I listened to it front to back for months when it came out.
100% concur. A certain shade of green was my first incubus track. Absolutely amazing album and song.
I’ve mentioned it before but you should also check out protest the hero and their song tandem. Talk about moving lyrics matched with an amazingly powerful voice
I would kill for a literal rubix cube with incubus album covers instead of colors.
I think one of Brandon Boyd’s most underrated vocal performances is the song “Here In My Room.” It’s a beautiful song that really highlights his range, and there’s a great live recording of it on here.
Agreed. "Oil and Water" also comes to mind.
Multiple songs, every album from Make Yourself on forward showcase his voice as it grew and evolved.
I think If Not Now When showcases Brandon's voice
"I miss you" is another vocal masterpiece by incubus
Mexico is one of my favorites alone with I miss you. Very much my teenage heartbreak anthems lol
oof. I forgot about that song. So good.
Incubus has a great sound, full of depth and a combination of styles. Absolutely love this band!
Literally every album is a timeless masterpiece.
Their song “If Not Now, When?” Is one of Brandon’s best vocal showcases, amazing song.
Thanks I hadn’t heard it (too new for me lol) but heck yeah, gorgeous!
@@kristenh8 it’s so slept on, it’s ironic considering it’s the title track of the album too.
Absolutely agree. Just beautiful
In the Company of Wolves is probably slightly a better vocal showcase than If Not Now, When, IMO. Both are good but but Wolves.
That whole album is underrated
I really like your knowledge and emotion while listening and commenting! I would enjoy listening and talking with you!
Going to see Incubus tonight ☺️
I love Incubus!!! Brandon has amazing vocal control and range! Dig is my favorite song, but PLEASE do more Incubus because they have so many great songs!

PS. You might also want to give Tantric a listen, starting with their first big hit, Breakdown.
Personally, I think Brandon is worthy of Tea Time. The whole Wish you were here album is phenomenal
I think it’s called Morning View, but I know what you meant. I loved the album when it came out and got made fun of for it compared to their first few. Time tells that it is probably their best album.
Yeah, a Tea Time interview would be awesome!! I like that album, but I gravitate towards Light Grenades more
Tea Time with White Jesus 😅

This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I literally wrote a paper analyzing this piece in 2002. I’m so excited to see you discovering it!
Incubus is my absolute favorite band. I'm so so so glad to see how much you liked this song!
I love this song. I probably love "Drive" even more, and how it showcases how great Brandon's natural instrument is.
You would LOVE their song "Just a Phase". AMAZING vocal performance both melody and harmony wise. Of all of the suggestions Ive seen, I'd definitely check this one out!
Yes! Great showcase of his range especially in the low end.
It's defs in my top 3 songs they perform in The Morning View Sessions
I remember listening to incubus for the first time and realizing I enjoyed every song on the whole album. My favorite band hands down
You were curious about this performance’s accuracy to the record.
So thanks.
Incubus is very Melanchole as you said! They have such a positive flow, vibe and melody in their songs. It’s what makes them so unique.
Aqueous Transmission is my favorite song of theirs as well! It shows the wide range of talent and innovation that this band truly has.
I am so here for this band. Such a unique sound, great lyricist and an amazing drummer. Produced banger after banger.
“If not now, when?” Some of the best vocals I’ve ever heard. Incubus is untouchable.
👌👌👌
The whole Morning View album is PHENOMENAL! Mantastic!!!!
I went to see them on Thursday at msg, sold out and this was the first song they sang, trust me, they had the entire venue vibiinggggg
Incubus is more than a Rock band. They blend so many style and their vibe is always very chill. Absolutely love them!
I 100% agree. Amazing song!
My favorite as well!
Badass song
That's one of my faves!
You're so right, his voice is so pretty ❤
Just a quick look at the trailer: Elizabeth's joy and fun with this song, glorious! 10/10 Can't wait for the rest!
The whole album Morning View was written when they basically all lived in a house on the beach for a year and just worked on the album. So much chill vibes even with the “heavier” stuff. Such a great album start to finish.
Every reaction video she does is like we’re all experiencing it again for the first time.
She is wonderful bro.
Exactly that! That is how I feel when I watch her! So happy to have stumbled upon her channel in a late night
Yes! I love watching these because she has the words to describe the things I like about songs that I don’t have. I’d say “this cool because it’s like ‘wish yoooooou were here.’” And she’s like “when he sings the chorus there’s an airy butterness.”
I didn’t realize it, but that’s what I wanted to say.
I fell in total love with Brands Boyd when I saw this video for the first time I never get tired of it never
you're not alone, musicians have always found Incubus to be musically fascinating. myself included. unique sound, seamless.
Been to a lot of live performances, seen incubus for the first time a few years back. Easily top 3 of the best live performances. He sounds identical to the studio recordings. Love it ❤
"his voice is buttery-yummy"
