About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

Then wat is the difference between u and pakistan. read the whole comments here. did u find a single person criticizing ur religion unlike u targeting others. pathetic

A very interesting speech indeed. However, typical with the world today, fundamentalists can take cue from this and start taking actions to remove or change all that - one never knows! One has watched how in Afghanistan the Taliban of those days demolished some great sculptural work, forgetting how it
was done, when it was done etc which would have been a witness to the great
capabilities of the people lived during those times, whenever it was.
Human beings need to come out of the fear
    cheers

i would verify each of his "facts" myself. For instance, he's totally wrong about Machu Pichhu and he also says Obama was born in Indonesia - when any reasonably educated man knows the american president must be born in America (Obama was born in Hawaii). The word 'Maya' is a total coincedence.

I dont want to sound communal here....but the problem with India is the foreign abrahamic institutionalized religion like islam and christianity....Hinduism is more of a culture than religion....its like Egyptian culture, Mayan culture, Persian culture...similarily we have Indian culture i.e Hinduism.....mayans, persians and egyptians were converted by these abrahamic religion but we are still they way we use to be. these religions make our own ppl love vatican and mecca more than our country.

When you say they are similar, the responsibility of explaining is on you, pal. Cuz my comment about their dissimilarity was an effect of your comment about their similarity. So don't you think you need to explain why eagle and garuda are similar? You said they are similar, but did you provide any explanation? You didn't. So, why should I give you explanation for disagreeing with you?

Then let me tell you, look at your own comment. You called Rahul Easwar a "poor man" for no reason! Just because he expressed his astonishment at the similarity of two nation's cultures, you concluded that he doesn't know the history of Indonesia? If you weren't abusive, I would have no need to be abusive. You just can't question anybody's knowledge like this? However, if you've been offended by my language then I'm sorry, I always apologize if I'm wrong, but you triggered me buddy!

@9886635574 : I agree. thought high of TED till now. Sad that I had to listen to this.
There's nothing new the speaker has to say. He is only imitating Vivekananda, Ananda Coomaraswamy and the like...all good people, but they made the mistake of equating Indian culture with their version of caste Hindu culture. When Hinduism itself is not a codified religion, but a way of life (sanatana dharma as he himself points out), what this speaker does is a corporated version of hindutva ideology.

Caste is every where.... Roman catholic, orthodox, pentacost, sunni, mujahid..... Etc.. Barbarism and brutality was every religions identity once ever in history.... Not kust hinduism

Hello, Are you afraid of views and opinions?
Do you believe in "BLASPHEMY" ?
Just hear clearly what he talks, think for a moment and then take up each of
the point that he talks of. Explain how, why you disagree giving logical
reasoning. That will educate self and others. Fear is the problem of most
of us, human beings and Fear is a product of IGNORANCE. To over come
fear one need to listen, think, analyze, discuss and debate etc - sweetly.

    Ha ha haaa....
Good rhyme....(nation...also a notion...). No reason.
India has always needed mainstream interpreters who would harmonize the dichotomy in the caste-ridden, ritualistic, and regressive cultural hegemony backed the so called sacred texts. This guy is the new star in the show. I guess, if you change the attire and language, it sounds nothing different from a born-again believer in Jesus.
BTW, this guy has proven his philosophical mettle amongst random chicks in a sleazy Malayalam reality show. Check out that show for some more perspective.
I am getting tired of searching for some sense in TED talks nowadays!

+Akshay S Dinesh TEDx are independent TED-like events, which can be organized by anyone who obtains a free license from TED, agreeing to follow certain principles.
The difference between TED and TEDx events are that the former takes more of a global approach while the latter typically focuses on a local community that concentrates on local voices. “Officially, the 'x' inTEDx stands for independently organized TED event - but it's more of aTED multiplied.

I think Rahul don't know the real face of India, Unity in diversity here only in text books and papers. If we have unity we will not fight among states for water, border disputes, etc. If we have unity we will not face these much communal violence. And also for Rahul the world is not only the countries such as America, China, Sri Lanka. There are so many countries lives peacefully and accept others also some are Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, Iceland etc so come out of the closed well.

A brave speaker. That's all to him. He lacks any new fresh thought or ideas. No offence meant, but promoting India itself is too overloaded and too vague. He went all over the places and could not systematic build on the foundation of 'India as a Notion'. Mere utterance of facts like 2 lakhs Britsihers ruled 20 crore Indians could be entertaining, to say the least. But lacks an Idea.

  • @masterprofession

No surprise, u r pessimist. When he said Americans are intelligent does NOT mean Indians are dumb. It could be less intelligent, not being too smart. You wanted him to speak all negative things about India just because you r a pessimist. He actually did that. Just that he has put that in a +ve perspective and told how bad things can happen if nationality was not an interest. See the video properly.
