I too have a new appreciation for my G-Shock, ever since getting a factory job where it really shines - and is my ONLY watch that could take the abuse!
Citizen and Casio are my favorite two watch brands. Tissot I like, but I have to send my Couturier back in for a sticky date wheel… Same quartz movement as in the PRX Quartz. I love what Citizen is doing, got the Unite the Blue Promaster with a Jubilee braclet from Long Island Watch. I wish the bezel was a little better aligned and I wish the second hand hit the markers perfect. Casio Edifice is seriously really really good, polishing, steel, sapphire glass, accurate quartz movements, and the markers hit perfectly on both of mine. Definitely getting the Citizen 365 as soon as I graduate a truck driving school and get a paycheck under my belt. 👌🏼
That Doxa you own is an absolute Gem. Beautiful watch. I love dress watches, specifically vintage Omega, Cartier, but, I do love a “colourful” dive watch. In my opinion Doxa and Squale make the nicest dive watches. Thank you for the content.

Looking down at my Tissot PRX, the only watch I own haha. I do agree with the criticisms people make about the brand though. I've got the mother of pearl dial, something you don't see everyday. It's a versatile piece, easy to dress up or down and can tick quite a few boxes. You could say Tissot function as a gateway brand into watch enthusiasm, worked for me. Would I buy another Tissot? Probably not, but I'm not sure I'd be watching this video now if I hadn't bought one. 9 months on the wrist I'm happy with my purchase, great place to start, no reason to stick with the brand though haha.
Appreciate your takes on watch brands, I kinda think your own journey influences this. My first watch was a tissot wind up watch in 1979, when the world was turning digital( still got it) I got a Longines for my 21st( dress watch) which I still own. What you feel for Tissot I feel for Seiko. Citizen love is growing in my heart, they are really trying hard to give value for money, Seiko used todo that. Seamaster is kinda dull, but Omega in general has beautiful dress watches for good value, oh wait! You wear t-shirt’s and Nike dunks, so there goes that. As always, thank you for sharing.
Aye Matey! THANK YOU for bashing Citizen, as I honestly do not "get it" about them anymore, because my actual Citizens BOTH failed after no more than 5 years of use, and of my quartz watches with Miyota calibres HALF of them failed as well! Meanwhile, ALL my Seiko/TMI calibres still run, some as old as 35 years! You also got it right about Timex. Thanks to Snoopy on the dial, I have 2 Indiglo watches now, plus a Waterbury GMT, but got them on sale for 60 dollars a pop, and they are NOT worth a penny more! At the low sale price, they have a certain charm, and I am keeping them, but they are absolutely not worth the up to 200, that Timex wants for them, whether it is the 60 click bezel on the white dial GMT model TW2U99100, that makes lining up the GMT hand impossible for any time zone not on a 2 hour increment, or the cheep and cheesy look of the Snoopy face watches!
What about Certina DS PH200M Ceramic 2020 version ? What do you think about that watch ?Kinda looks awsome with vintage charm and nice mesh milanese bracelet...
Oooh the Omega bit hurt - ngl. LOL Certina and Tissot - would agree definitely. Bremont (I have no idea why anyone buys a Bremont). Another cracking video Russ. You're smashing it. Plus you've invented a new word "Brick sh'ouse".
I have to admit, i was not a particular fan of citizen, but i recently got a eco-drive "modern" chrono, and i am massively impressed with th finishing and specs (inc sapphire crystal). Its great as i don't need to set it after a weekend. Will be getting a tsuyosa small seconds soon too. Omega... i just find them boring and a bit fake. I mean, James Bond is cool, but its a fictional character!! Leave it be, stop milking it. The basic seamaster is soo expensive too. And that stupid helium valve. Ugh. Tissot were one of my faves, still have a square ana-digi i was gifted for my 21st back in 2003. Love that. But totally put off by them using plastic parts in their powermatic movements, and their tendency to use non screw down casebacks.
I think the new Citizen Eco Drive 365 watches are really nice. I like mine! Some of the Series 8 are really good as well, expensive but nice. I guess it just depends on what you are into. The grand irony for me is that I've never been a Casio fan, but I really like that Casiotron. That's on my watch and maybe buy list.
Thanks for the thoughts mate! - Great suggestions and sharing ideas, i pretty much don't like the Citizen that much either.. i kinda started to like Forza Super Titanium from them.. what do you think? do a review probably?
Ah, that’s shame on the Timex… but fair enough by you; I really love what they’ve been doing over the past few years with their reissues and homages. Funny enough with Citizen, I have one, the first version of the Nighthawk and that’s so far the only Citizen I’ve genuinely been excited by - and it’s the only pilot’s watch in my set.
Ive got a Marlin Chrono and a MK1 and they're both great value and lovely to look at. The straps were hideous though. The MK1 got scratched early on but a tiny dab of aquafresh sorted it
Maybe it's a market thing, but here in the USA there's quite a price gap between Longines and Certina, with Certina being competitive with Tissot while Longines is nearly halfway to Omega.
There is here my friend. But where should Certina sit in the Swatch group pyramid! They have far more iconic watches from there back catalogue than Tissot but are hidden behind their shadow. The build quality , the proportions everything needs to be rethought . Strip away 50% of the catalogue they sell and make them a step up from Tissot to Longines or just sell the brand and let someone else look after the legacy!
With you on Citizens, just sold mine, nothing wrong with it but just didn't bond I suppose.. However I do like The Citizen. Spotted a guy in the bookshop wearing a Mondaine and mentioned it, think he was happy I recognised it!

Another great, insightful, and hilarious vid from MWC! I couldn't agree more on Citizen watches, too. They're just boring and I wouldn't even buy them at 90% off retail. I have 2 Citizens that are vintage (one goes back to 1993!), but I never wear them. They're just way too, well, boring! It's like seeing someone wear an Apple Watch at a black tie event. AND, YES, I HAVE SEEN THAT HAPPEN!!
If you like the Seiko Willard, I'd try the Certina DS 2 Turning Bezel. Maybe the dial doesn't pop as much, but it feels much higher quality in hand for the same price as the Willard.
I must admit I didn’t feel the difference in quality my friend. Their modern reinterpretations just lack a character or personality for me. Take the logo off the dial and apart from the cool turtle shell on the caseback , there’s no signature there that reminds me why I bought into the brand . For me , Certina need to be sold to someone that can take them out from the shadow of Tissot! In my opinion the brand should be a step up from Tissot with far more iconic looking watches from the past .
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR I can certainly agree that they are not utilizing so many of their iconic models from the 60s-70s, and I’d love to see them bought out of the Swatch group. Thank you for your reply!
Hey Russ. I like the haircut. Looks good. But I disagree with you over Grand Seiko's power reserve indicator. It ruins the symmetry more than a date complication. It's not needed. I have more than a few watches, so I'm always winding them anyway. Lol. Great video as usual. Always look forward to them.
Thank you my friend. I did a review of the Baby snowflake a few months ago. It was quartz so had no indicator . I felt like the dial was naked!!!!!!! The snowflake needs it!;)
@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR you could be right. I guess it's like a calling card. You see it and recognize the watch immediately. Sort of like the helium escape valve on a Seamaster Diver 300m. I like the watch, but hate that helium escape valve. But I guess it wouldn't be a Seamaster Diver 300m without it.
You should REALLY look at the citizen NB1050-59E ! ITs everything and more the SARB used to be! I am a seiko aficionado! I have 3 grand seikos and a bunch of presages and proxpex! This citizen and the blue variant the -12L are what i loved about seiko decades ago! Its so well done! Thank me later! Btw the pictures give it zero justice! Trust me! The case is just insane in hand.
Out of all the watches I bought during a couple months of retail therapy while my mother was in hospice, the only one I regret is the Tissot PRX. I’ve only worn that thing twice and can’t sell it to anyone
Lol: one thing that I have noticed over the years is that I rarely like other peoples watch collections as much as my own- I think it boils down to memories, family history of the watch, tastes or preferences ( why I choose that watch in the first place). I have many vintage or family heirloom watches THAT I LOVE OWNING and almost never ware.( I have watches from 4 generations of both my and my wife's families!). I also have some very nice dress watches that I LOVE, but almost never ware. So, I disagree that if you haven't warn a watch in several month you should get rid of it. My grandfather's Hamilton Ventura gets wrist time once or twice a year for mother's day brunch kind of events.
You know, I put a lot of thought in the “what watch would I pick in a case of an apocalypse”.. And yes, at first I made the choice of a solar powered piece- it makes sense. No? Ahh, I think there’s a catch! In some ‘realistic’ apocalyptic scenarios (not zombies and such), in most likelihood- we will be blocked from the sun🤷🏼♂️. So, if I don’t want to be dependent on an outside source, any source, I will choose a mega robust automatic ☝🏻.
I bought a Citizen 660 watch 5 months ago. It has a perpetual calender , chronograph, alarm, eco drive, sapphire crystal, radio control, and 200m of waterresistant rating. Still i only use it for setting my other automatic ( Seiko) watches...😂. Should i sell it? 🤔 Than again i still have my Citizen titanium chronograph that i bought in 1993 ( titanium was a bit special back than).
Love my doxas , got a couple , a seiko and an oris diver too . But can’t agree on Certina being boring , but maybe because I’ve just bought a watch you’d hate , namely the titanium Certina 38 mm ds action , love mine , don’t you turn your nose up Russell nether lol
My issue with Citizen is that they insist on making large watches, there’s little to none in the 38mm size. I have a Tsuyosa but I won’t buy another until they can bring the sizes down.
I understand your take on Tissot, as apart from a few of their models they occupy a funny space where they're trying to compete with fashion brands. Surprised on your Certina take though, some interesting heritage there and they're not meant to be up with Longines, so I don't get the comparison.

Btw the pictures give it zero justice! Trust me! The case is just insane in hand.
Loooove the “click it” part
He has such personality and is so witty. i'm glad that his channel is doing so well.
Yes, that's why I never click it... besides, I've seen all the previous video's anyway.
Yep, I keep waiting for it lol

Great video my friend as always, but I’ve got to disagree the Vostok has great brand heritage and history and a unique case design!
The Citizen series 8 GMT is a nice watch IMO, tried one on recently and it ticked a lot of boxes for me.
Out of all the watches I bought during a couple months of retail therapy while my mother was in hospice, the only one I regret is the Tissot PRX. I’ve only worn that thing twice and can’t sell it to anyone
Happy new haircut day 🥳
hey, look at you! finally got a haircut, very nice 😊
My apocalypse watch arrived today! A G-5600UE.
In some ‘realistic’ apocalyptic scenarios (not zombies and such), in most likelihood-
we will be blocked from the sun🤷🏼♂️.
So, if I don’t want to be dependent on an outside source, any source, I will choose a mega robust automatic ☝🏻.
Great show.... as always!
Really think you would like the citizen ny0120 the orange or the yellow one.
Got to the end... respect..
You got the Landmaster. 🍻
How about a top 5 watches by the missus?
With written commentary obviously. 😉
New hair Cut, nice but now This channel should be called the Sensible Watch Collector 😂
Love a new MWC vid.
On est d'accord sur les montres en cas d'apocalypse.. la casio dw5600 ou la Seiko snj025.. j'ai les deux .. une sur chaque poignet ça fera le job 😂
My issue with Citizen is that they insist on making large watches, there’s little to none in the 38mm size. I have a Tsuyosa but I won’t buy another until they can bring the sizes down.
Looks like you just came off the court mate!🤣
100% I did and it was 28 degrees inside the studio! The hair usually covers up the sweat! Have to remember that from now on!
Love my 5 Citizen watches, cant fault them ❤
- Omega Seamaster just looks so 80’s especially with that braclet.
My argument with watches is, as long as I like how they look and it brings me joy, I'd get it and I'll just forge my own memories with it.
I agree the cut is exceptional.
Great show as usual
Can you do a video on the best ways to sell watches???
I understand your take on Tissot, as apart from a few of their models they occupy a funny space where they're trying to compete with fashion brands. Surprised on your Certina take though, some interesting heritage there and they're not meant to be up with Longines, so I don't get the comparison.
If anyone does not like Omega, take a look at the Omega 2024 Paris Olympics special edition watch. It’s a stunner.
If you’re talking about that swatch looking 50 thousand pound monstrosity????
Offense taken. Heresy! Sacrilege! Citizen and omega? Timex, which led me to watch collecting addiction. Your haircut is cool though.
❤this is so good .and i only own 2 watches and they r both casio.
Trimmed the salad huh? Very suave lol.
My boring brands are Bremont, Zelos and Islander
