I’m watching this again, because it’s quite tricky. Especially playing the guitar as well 😃. On watching it again I’ve realised how good a harmonica teacher you are. You break it down extremely well.

Hi Liam. I’m playing it on guitar starting with an Am then G and F/A . I’m assuming this version is in Am? Not Gm. Would that mean I could play it in C as C is the relative major of Am?. Hi Brent, yes if you're playing the song in Am then you could use a C harp. Cheers. Liam
Neil is playing a guitar dropped down 1 whole tone. Am=Gm, etc. The relative major to Am is C, hence dropping it down to Bb. Hence the Bb harmonica. If you want to play in Am natural tuning, yes use a C harmonica. But this guy nails it. Probably learn it in Bb, then grab your guitar and play it in natural tuning with your C harmonica. LearnTheHarmonica.com one version I found that has a bit of harmonica in the background there's lots of versions of it, it was a popular song on commercials back in the day it's something most people would recognize in Canada here.

Liam thank you so much for creating this lesson. I used it to learn this song during Covid and stumbled back upon while trying to find what brand harmonica Neil uses.
Do you know what brand his harmonica is or how he achieves that distinctive tone? Part of it is playing slightly rough but even his cleaner notes have a distinctive richness to them. I thought it might be an album production thing, like separate harmonica track etc but even in his live shows it is still present:

Hey yo, anybody out there help me out... is that a straight “blues harp” ? I’m looking at a Hohner B flat diatonic harmonica, but I see a country tuned, a harmonic minor, and a blues harp... a bit confusing when you don’t know. Trying to make sure I get the right one.

Hi Chris, yes it's a standard 10 hole diatonic harmonica in "Richter" tuning which is a normal blues harmonica :)

Hey brother, thank you very seriously much. I got my first one right, a B flat diatonic I picked up in the Nashville Guitar Center... a Hohner Blues Harp MS-Series. I’m learning Neil’s solo to My My Hey Hey and playing it on my guitar, a really cool Gibson L-00. You’re a really seriously great teacher brother, just amazing help.
I’ve got my 3 kids I’m bringing along and trying to teach as well, Twin boys almost 11 and a daughter almost 9. They’re all great singers and comfortable with pitches, and all learning guitar... we’d love to have you come aboard and be our rudder and help steer the ship on this new adventure... we’re driving back to Nashville Friday to start their spring break, and we’re gonna load up on harmonicas.
Any and ALL advice would be hugely appreciated. Any links to purchase lessons or anything available to help us please lemme know and a massive thank you for the help already. We’re starting Heart Of Gold this weekend.

They're easy to get online, from Hohner/Suzuki/Lee Oskar/Seydel.
can i play it in G or in C and it will works?
Hi Alx B., yes you can use any key of harmonica - you only need the same key as me if you want to play along with the original. That's the beauty of tabs, you can pick up any key of harmonica and just follow the same tabs to play it in that key. Hope this makes sense! Cheers. Liam
