This is such a great tutorial, I love how nice you make the cloth look after cutting and sewing it. Five children, God bless you sweetie, you're saving an awful lot of money making things that cost so much at the department stores. Thanks for the tutorial!
I've seen several burp cloth tutorials and I like you're no-nonsense tutorial best. The only addition I'm going to make is to run two straight stitch rows across (dividing the cloth in thirds) to keep it in place after a wash. Thank you!
You probably dont give a damn but does anyone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb forgot my password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me
@Wayne Collin Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Why not make the pattern on paper first? This would allow you to place the pattern on multiple layers and cut several at once. Super big thank you for pointing out that you need to watch the foot and not the needle. I take it a step further when sewing wider seam allowances by using a different colored sharpies to actually draw the lines right on my machine that I need to follow...the bright colors make it super easy to watch while sewing. For example- I'll draw a line from the 5/8" mark on the machine plate to the edge of my machine to follow while sewing. 🥰 Another tip for sewing straight if you need to top-stitch across large things, like say you made a 9x9" inch potholder and you want to quilt it. Lay down blue painter's tape then stitch along side it, remove the tape and you have a perfectly straight-stitched line. I sew almost every day...my next big thing is burp cloths. Thanks so much for the ideas!!!🥰
These are easy to make and so easy to understand for a beginner. I am going to make them for my niece that is due in October. A very nice baby shower gift!
Hi there! New seamstress here and I love sorting through remnants basket at Wal-Mart and joanns that I have used this as a way to learn and practice some skills-thank YOU this was very simply done
Thanks for this easy to follow video. Heard the words 'burp cloth' first not so long ago, and now making some for friends having grandchildren soon. We used clean cloth nappies when I was younger❤, so this a novelty for me.
With a second grandchild on the way, I am excited to gift my son and daughter-in-love with these adorable burp cloths! Thanks for the great tutorial, Mindi!
I used gifted baby rectangles of burp cloths and receiving blankets as practice for programs with edgings with my machine. It has mages, flower, bow, cat and many more in a string of designs on the edges of plainer fabrics instead of a straight stitch edge. In between characters might be one to five scallops. Mine is Janome but many will let you stitch one object from a repeating design. Your gift bundle is awesome!
Love your instructions. Easy to follow and understand. BTW I was wondering what type of sewing machine you have. I noticed and also with others that you don't have to cut thread each time. I'm looking for that as a nice feature. My machine is an old iron workhorse. I love it for heavy duty but now I want a little ease and comfort. Thank you for your skill, knowledge and confidence in everyone.
Maybe I missed it, but I did not hear you suggest washing and pressing the flannel first. The two may shrink differently. Thanks for the tip about cutting the corners together.
@@mindihoffman5556 i was wondering the same. I am going to be using terry cloth for the one side of the BC. Would a walking foot be better, especially the top stitching?
Rosandra Hernandez I used two different types of flannel. But you can use anything you want! In the past I’ve used terry cloth (like what bath towels are made of) or minky fabric for the back side. Terry cloth or flannel would be more absorbent though! 😊
I am a beginner , I recently came across your tutorial and I was wondering if you can use cotton flannel fabric with cotton quilting fabric? if so do I have to line the quilting fabric?
Thank you for sharing this video with us, you did a good job!........ But, I thought the music in the background was a little bit too distracting for me. Maybe something a little bit more soft and soothing would be nice in the future. Just a suggestion. I had to turn the sound off while you did the demo so that the music wouldn't get stuck in my head for the next 10 days! (Just kidding about the 10 days. But, sometimes I do hear a song in my brain/mind for a few days after I hear it for the first time, and it's nice if the song or music is something more soft and soothing.) Thanks again for the "How to Sew an Easy Burp Cloth" video! :)
Thanks for the nice comment, Jennifer! This was actually my first video and I had no idea it would get so many views. Therefore I randomly chose music and didn’t put much thought into it. Thanks for the suggestion, will definitely be adding better music next time! ❤️
Sorry about that! This was my first video and I was still trying to figure it all out. It’s harder than you’d think, plus I had no idea it would even have views. There’s always the mute though! 😉
Real Life. Real Joy. Haha.. i’m refinishing it pretty soon.. it’s pretty beat up anyway. After that I won’t iron on it. I’ve never had a problem with it burning. 🤷🏼♀️

I’m glad you found this helpful! The extra stitches are a great idea, I’ll keep that in mind for next time! ❣️

This is the best tutorial! It's simple to follow and beautifully done. Thank you!
I really like the way you demonstrate. As a beginner I really appreciate even watching you doing the sewing. Thank you.
Very easy indeed. Ive made these and they turn out nice. I used fat quarters (cotton) on one side and flannel on the other, softer for baby. thnk you
I loved how you used the bowl to create the curve of the burp cloth! So much better than a template.

Seems very easy and I like your approach. Will be trying now.
This is a great easy video. Your presentation is awson. Thank you for the information.
So simply done,,, I'll be doing this for sure, blessings!
Love the idea of using a bowl for the corners!

I'm so happy to find this! I will be making these for my granddaughter due in July! :) Very easy to understand. Thank you.

I will be making these. Thank you,
Are you ironing on wooden table?
Maybe I missed it, but I did not hear you suggest washing and pressing the flannel first. The two may shrink differently. Thanks for the tip about cutting the corners together.
Thank you! I didn’t mention it but I typed it in the bottom of the screen at 1:10. Thanks for mentioning it again in case someone else missed it! 💕
Is the seam allowance 1/2" & topstitching at 1/4", I am just guessing. Thanks for a great video!!
Donna Prew yes, it is! Sorry if I forgot to mention that! ❤️

Do yoy used two diferent patters of flannel?? Or it has to be another type of fabric???

So if each piece is 10 in wide, with 1 1/8 yd you make 4 double fabric burp cloth
These are great!!!
Carol Sferra thank you!!

Sorry for the late response! Yes you can use flannel. ♥️

Are both pieces of fabric
flannel?
What size bowl did you use?
Excellent tutorial! Thank you! ❤️
You’re welcome, Sadie! ❤️
@@mindihoffman5556 did you not use interfacing or a towelling for the one side. Is two flannelette layers absorbent enough?.

I currently dont have a sewing machine but could these be hand sewn as well?
Yes, that would work fine! 😊
I’m glad I could help! I taught myself how to sew on TH-cam about 8 years ago. Have fun! 💕
Pattern
Do you wash your flannel first?
Yes, I washed all my fabric before sewing. :)
The music is very off putting and hard to hear you as you are soft spoken.
what was the purpose of the slits? i didn't quite understand
So that the curves turn and lay nicely.
Did you make both sides with flannel?
Lol i even have the same bowl 😂
I can't believe you're ironing right on your table! Aren't you worried it will burn?
Real Life. Real Joy. Haha.. i’m refinishing it pretty soon.. it’s pretty beat up anyway. After that I won’t iron on it. I’ve never had a problem with it burning. 🤷🏼♀️
That’s what I was wondering!! Thanks for the answer.
Love the idea but sorry hate your music
Sorry about that! It was my first video and thankfully you can mute it. Lol 😆
All you had to do was turn volume down. No need for a rude remark
Not PRETTY SIDE. Right and Wrong side is proper. Both sides are "pretty"
