Physics of Heaven: A Critical Review from Two Former Leaders in Bethel’s Church Network

  • Physics of Heaven has been very controversial for many years now but with the recent video from Mike Winger we decided to to read the book for ourselves. Bryan Keyser and Ian Bell are charismatic pastors who love Jesus and His Word and because of that, we love the truth. This book is riddled with back doctrine and dangerous ideas and unfortunately seemingly no one in the Charismatic Movement wants to say anything. We love the gifts of the Spirit and fully believe they are a important aspect in the life of every believer. Unfortunately most of those who has been critical of this book do not. We want to bring correction to “our team” while also promoting the culture of revival, healing, deliverance, and prophecy. Please share this video with a friend and check out our other videos! Thanks and God bless you!

Excellent conversation. I learned a lot. I had been deceived for years by teachers twisting scripture whether it be the prosperity gospel and even some Bethel teaching as you have pointed out. I am now untangling myself from many of these ministries by being a student of the word and embracing the fear of the Lord. I am also charismatic, but I was lazy when it came to searching for truth. I recommend RT Kendall’s book “Prophetic Integrity.”

Hey Paul and Barnabas, great discussion, you guys (along with remnant radio) reinforced for me that there's hope for discernment amongst the millennial generation . I felt you guys were very generous in your evaluation and didn't simply have an ax to grind. I can tell you guys have pastor's hearts. (^: Blessings, I look forward to future postings.

I’m so sad. I love Bill Johnson’s humility and heart for God. He is like a pastor to me. I pray he will come out and respond to this. I really am disappointed that he is endorsing and even a part of this. 😢Thank you guys for your heart and truth for this book.

He came to Alaska in 1991, taught his strange teachings at my current church, the Church literally split because one half wanted to be faithful to scripture while the other wanted to pursue Bill’s miracles, signs, and wonders theology. My church board member was there long before Bill showed up and still is part of the church board today.
Bill had many decades to repent but didn't, this just means he is in willful rebellion and ignorance of God’s word.

Appreciate your insights! I thought your concerns were valid and well explained.
Scripture first! And Holy Spirit never invalidates His Word! Holy Spirit is a Person *Not* a "force". We do need to learn how to live in His Presence and move in Him according to our faith - that includes the basics of our faith!- Study to show yourself an approved workman ź study Scripture, evangelize, feed the poor, heal the sick, cast out demons. The Lord may choose to show us how He does it, but He is under no obligation to do so.
We certainly do need to learn how to move in the delegated authority Jesus gave us that He bought back through the Cross and His resurrection.
I have chosen not to buy this book - so yes, you have saved me time!

I like your comment, reminded me to “die daily”, and God used your comment to get that message to me today!

I think this is really balanced. I find bill Johnson's teachings to be humbling and faith filled. But I've been very alarmed at what I've seen come out of there. I was part of a small church that came out of bethel. We had teachers like Randy Clark come etc. But at one point we had a group of School of supernatural students come from bethel. It was bizarre. During the service they kept bursting into laughter, loudly and uncontrollably, even during the sermon and not just worship. It seemed deliberate and not "Holy laughter". Definitely a "look at us" thing. It was an extreme distraction from the sermon etc. I believe in the Toronto revival, etc. There are genuine moves of God and then a desperation of man to try to replicate it and thats where we run into trouble. I believe bethel has a heart for God but there is a huge amount of distraction by focusing on "God is doing a new and different thing" and then actually conjuring it up. That whole "new sound" thing runs through the movement. The reason we ended up leaving the church was that Sunday morning was replaced by our worship leader saying "release a new sound now out of your spirit, make a new sound" , we were always hearing about thr "new sound " from heaven, prompting the congregation and worship team to sit and moan for a half hour. That's not how it works. Moves of God come through HOLINESS. All this teaching , It wasn't that way in asuza or any other great revival.

kewl video guys, thanks! Keep up the good work.
The bad thing is that Bill Johnson and his wife endorse this book and Judy was his secretary and she held classes, that Bill endorse, for a long time teaching people how to visit heaven through imagination, that allows you into the spirit realm, then into heaven. I'm sure she was trying to get people open to the Holy Spirit who are closed up or don't know how to hear , but sounds kind a dangerous.
Bill writes in 'Experiencing heaven' by Judy Franklin and his wife. "These two women are among the most qualified people I know for such and endeavor to write a book about experiencing God"
I wouldn't be telling people to read parts of this book. It's a stain on Bethel. They need to bury it. There's nothing special in it that people need, while being near the danger of it.
It's so sad to me cuz I really like Bill Johnson and many things he says.

I find incredible that people dont get more outraged by the content of the book. You guys are saying explicitly that the authors are inviting people away from the Gospel, and yet not finding it extremely serious?

In what way did we communicate it’s not extremely serious? Did you watch the entire video?
