    Cost caps are fine and allow you to scale easily at your target ROAS when implemented correctly. Set a low cost cap on your TOFU (1-2X), a slightly higher one on your MOFU, and then run your BOFU at 20% budget with no cost cap and your blended ROAS should fall within your goal. There is no better way to achieve consistent performance than with a cost cap especially if you have an unlimited budget.

      When do you set the cost cap? Like after you’ve trained the pixel for a while ? Can I use the cost cap with a new account and pixel??

    • @markpommett5712
      @markpommett5712 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mrmarkl328 I train the pixel with 15-20 conversions in 30 days. More is better but it can get really expensive if you have a high AOV. Depending on your AOV, $100 CPA is good for top of funnel. Don't be surprised if your daily spend drops significantly for the next couple weeks as the system tries to hit the target. It will bounce back and start spending efficiently once it accrues enough data. Patience is key. Cost cap with new account could work if you don't set it too low. Try $100 CPA on your top of funnel and leave it unrestricted no bid cap on the 30 day bottom of funnel visitors with a smaller budget (20%). This is what works for me. Eventually, all of your campaigns should be running on a cost cap or tROAS once you are pushing enough sales volume. This is the easiest way to run FB ads and if you set everything right you will be able to scale as much as you want while making a profit.

    Great video.. I don't ever set caps. Have you ever seen a campaign that was at $1.75 to $3.00 a click consistently and then one day is at $8 a click eating up almost all of the budget before 12noon? For an example, I have a $1000 a day budget, and at 10am $800 is spent! I have lots of times where I'd get the clicks, and little sales, but never seen this before where it would eat my budget so fast either and very little sales. 0 changes were made to the campaign and the ads, etc... Never seen this before, has it happened to you? if so, do you just ride the wave?

    Another great video! You're seriously the number #1 source of Facebook Ads information on TH-cam! I have a question, when starting a new conversion campaign, how much money should you have spent with no or little landing page views/link clicks, before it's an indicator of the campaign not being successful? I know you got to give it some time, but I got a new conversion campaign with 10 pounds spent and no link clicks. Thank you so much!

    I normally run the campaigns on lowest cost but when I check on them during the day if CPR rises i just pause the adsets and switch it back on at midnight , like you said in the UK especially when it is sunny on Saturdays that normally come with with bad results because people are out drinking or at the beach but when I turn on the campaign on a Sunday it gets a positive CPR

    I make and A/B test with minimal price and cost cap. With a cost cap I have more conversion and as a results at a lower price. It was like 20-30% of difference.
    The one thing if you turn to a cost cap from minimal price it will automatically send it to learning phase one again/(

    If I run my ad for 1.5 month, spent 550 usd, got around 1000 page visits, 200 add to carts, around 40 sales, etc., would it be reasonable to try this cost cap? Some days I get 2-3 sales, and that’s super cool. But some days it’s 0 sales.

  • @sheenatorno
    @sheenatorno 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey Ben, when setting cost cap based on average cost per purchase, do you mean in the campaign level or the ad level? (I'm testing a campaign where I get really high cost per purchase in the campaign level but when you go look into the individual ads, the cost per purchase of the ads that converted are much much lower)

    • @BenHeath

    Hi Ben, thanks for the excellent video. Very educational. I was paying attention to what you mentioned about cost control, and what you say makes perfect sense, but what if I'm running this campaign for the first time with cost control? What would be my limit if I don't have anything to compare with? What is the limit I should start with? I'm running a conversions campaign to a quiz funnel to get Dental Implants leads. Appreciate your input on this. Thanks.

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are very welcome Fedor :)
      The simple answer is that I wouldn't start a new campaign with a cost control. I would instead start with smaller budgets and establish a base line cost first.

    Hi Ben, had a quick question. Recently had an ad set exit learning limited and performance has dropped in comparison to being in learning limited. It’s been in the active phase now for 3-4 days. Any suggestions with this as I thought performance would pick up. Thank you.

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's probably just a coincidence and you've hit naturally fluctuation at the time that your ad set exited the learning phase. I'd give it more time and see if the costs come back down.

    Hello Ben ! Amazing video as usual :)
    Small question, when we put a custom audience in an ad set inside a CBO campaign for example ( let's say it's Facebook page engagers , or likers or whichever other custom audience )
    At the time that audience was created , let's say the FB page engagers were 5000 people, we made a LLA from that as well etc... and we ran the campaign for a month.
    After those 30 days , the Facebook page engagers are way more then 5000 , does that custom audience and it's LLA , get automatically updated ? or will we have to manually go make a new audience and then re-make a duplicated ad-set to put said bigger audience.
    Thank you so much I know I have been asking much lately, but I trust your judgement highly.

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you very much.
      Yes both the custom and lookalike audience will update automatically in that scenario. The time where that won't happen is if you upload a list and don't update it.

    Great video Ben. I've been using Cost Caps lately and have done well, but never spent anywhere near my budget. I have my budget set at $5000 per day and it barely spends $300 per day. I find it hard to believe it can only get me 10-15 conversions per day out of millions of users. Any thoughts on how to get it to scale? It's been running for nearly 10 days and while the results have been consistent, it will never spend. Also, would you advise removing the cost cap during holiday advertising due to the increased rate of conversions?

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Jayme, thanks a lot :)
      That happens very often with cost caps. The best approach is often to increase or remove the cost cap - but you will want to reduce your budget significantly first - otherwise that sort of budget increase will result in a massive spike in cost per conversion.
      Facebook will be able to generate many more conversions than that per day but not necessarily within the cost per conversion you have set as your cap - that's what's going on here.
