@@youmdbtube If he was that great he would be effing them up and down right now for letting Corbin burns walk away. For a 40 something year old to replace him with. The fact that he doesn't have any issues with not re-signing the best pitcher in baseball when you were told to spend the money and then you don't then you let Anthony Santander walk away and replace him with Tyler O'Neill who is good but he's no Anthony. He's constantly injured. There was plenty of money to resign both of them even if they don't go out and get anybody else.keep the people you got. I mean think about it how did they think they were going to replace the best guy at his position with somebody else. They already had him on the team All they had to do was pay him He's worth it He's proved it. Same with Anthony He's proved it he stayed healthy most of his career and he continues to get better every year. So instead of breaking down 40 something year old over the hill washed up senior citizen Charlie Morton why not be going off about how stupid it was to let Corbin Burns walk away for an old guy 15 million for a season for an old guy. When the best player in their position says to you I want 5 years and 400 million Guess what You're freaking give it to him because he's the best. You can't replace the best why is nobody calling this out but a few fans on here. If he wants to lick the boots of Michael he can do so. The rest of us real fans are going to call them out from here on out when they're told to spend money and they don't. At least spend the money on the players that are already on your damn team and don't let them walk away. So basically they let two of the best players in baseball walk away and sign nobody but a 40-year-old and another guy to replace Anthony who's constantly injured yeah that's some great business decisions isn't it. We're not winning anything with the pitching staff we have now. Michael was brought in to rebuild the team mission accomplished job well done now get rid of him. He's good at rebuilding not adding to rosters He's made that quite clear. He can't even follow directions Michael spend money on players no I don't think I'm going to do that. Michael resigned the players we already have no I'm going to let them walk away and then go sign 45-year-old men to replace them with. This is the worst offseason imaginable for a team that was told to spend damn money didn't spend anything. And let everybody walk I'm disgusted with this team's management. The whole front office they all should be fired

Like the move. I agree with you Connor. I thought that this increases the likelihood of a trade, using one of the depth pitchers, a prospect and maybe draft pick for Castillo or another front line starter. Bradish and possibly Wells could be available to pitch at the end of the season. This gives us depth.

Another nice move. I've been reading the comments. We need to relax. This is only back-end rotation work. It's not a surrender about getting a 1. Who would we rather see as a 4 and 5 the last few seasons? Lyles/Gibson/Suarez (who is due for at least some regression)/Povich (this season, not perhaps next going forward when he hopefully figures it out)? Or Sugano and Morton? For me, this is easy. Yes, let's hope for Cease or whomever, but these moves at the back end are clearly upgrades.

  • @JaCapella

Os and RSox go into offseason needing exactly the same Rotation additions.
The Orioles have more money to spend and more prospects to trade and a better team
But who is has better GM?
    Red Sox get
An Ace Lefty and a #2 Righty both under 29 yrs old, in the prime of their careers with high floors and major upside for a combined 21 million in salary
    The Orioles get
    A #4 and #5
A 35 yr old righty from Japan
Whose velocity and stuff is declining
And today they double down by signing Charlie Morton, a 41 year-old righty who stuff is also declining
So two pictures combined 77 years of age for combined salaries over $30 million

For weeks now, I've been thinking the exact same thing about signing a vet and trading a starter in a package for a front of the rotation guy. My hope has been that it's Kremer because for a team that's competing, he's more of a sure bet than guys like Povich and McDermott. Plus, I really don't want to trade Povich. I hope that comes true and my number one wish is Pablo Lopez. The Twins are exploring an ownership change and if so, will likely want to cut payroll. Lopez has three years on his contract which is important since Morton, Sugano and Eflin are all free agents after this year

Morton is a bargain at $13 million; who else can you get for that amount.? The Orioles were not going to outbid the Dodgers for Snell, or the Yankees for Freid, and Burnes was not coming back because he wants to live at his year-round home. I think your analysis is spot on. The O's now have a clear eight starting pitchers, and can include a younger one in a deal for Castillo or whoever else is at the top of their list, along with a prospect or two.

Did not spend to pay Burnes, instead cheap 1 year deals for back end guys like Morton and Sugano. They were even with Oakland in the offseason...who HAD to spend or would have been taken to task for pocketing revenue sharing. No long term pitching deals. No extensions for young core. They went backward hoping their duct taped solutions will hold up.

No Connor it's not about a glass half full or empty It's about common sense and good and bad business decisions. When you have the best guy in the position already on your team you don't let him go you keep him you pay him whatever he wants because he's the best You give him as many years as he asked for because he's the best and you can't replace him because he's the best and then you're going to go out and get a 40 something Charlie Morton and try to sugarcoat it that he's anywhere even on the same radar with Corbin Burns. And then you're going to let your fan favorite 44 home run swinging guy leave as well. When management was told spend money and get some damn players not only are they not willing to go out and get players they're not even willing to resign the ones they got. That speaks volumes that this team is doomed for permanent mediocrity. Let's just be realistic here Michael is more worried about his ego and building a team and winning a world series without spending any money then he is winning a world series. It's all about Michael That's obvious to anyone at this point with a working brain. He did a good job rebuilding the team and that's what he's good for now it's time to dump him and get somebody who's willing to spend money on people who are going to help the team. For god sakes they could have at least re-signed Corbin Burns to a 5-year $300 million contract if that's what he asked for you give it to him he's the best in the position why would you argue. If you're told spend money and you don't you're not doing your job you should be fired plain and simple. If I'm told to make sure that something is there on time or I work and I'm late and it doesn't get there on time I lose my job because I defy the direct order what makes him any better

    • @jayherting74
      @jayherting74 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@WonkNRoll yeah it was a bad deal that was different management a different time. So what that one didn't work out. So the rest of the teams existence for the next 4,000 years you're never going to make a big deal again because you made one bad business deal. Businessmen make bad business deals all the time. That's going to happen that's called business. Whether it's sports or anything else bad business deals do happen occasionally. You just try not to make a habit of it. I'm tired of hearing about but Chris Davis. Corbin Burns is not Chris Davis Anthony Santander is not Chris Davis They both earn their money and deserve to get paid. Corbin Burns is the best there is in the position there's no arguing that. So you let the best guy in the position that you already had on your team walk away when you could have kept him. Then you're going to let a fan favorite go that hit 44 home runs last year and replace him with a guy that's always injured He's great when he plays but he's no Anthony Santander. They could have kept the Anthony too. We know these are great players these are not Chris Davis type players these players are time-tested and have played well for years. You want to defend Mr ego You go right ahead but he was good for rebuilding the team The team is rebuilt we don't need him anymore we need somebody who's going to make good business decisions bringing good players resign the players that we have. Next you're going to watch Gunner Henderson and adely rutchman they're going to go next. You have to pay people If you want them to play for you. You obviously like being mediocre.
