Heard this for the first time on the radio today - how have I missed this wonderful song? And no, I haven't been under a rock for 30 years either! 😂 It's so uplifting and happy.
Alison Limerick was the Dance Diva of the early 90's. So underrated, yet brilliant.!Never a Saturday night passed at Miro's club in Nottingham without an AL record being played.! Thanks for the memories Alison.
This song just popped into my head and I started singing it to my dog as it was trying to climb on the sofa by itself and brought here 😂👌changed one of the words for my version “make it on your own”
Now, this is strange! In April 1992 my sister passed away aged 17, I was about 9 at the time. She's been on my mind alot lately. I've been suffering with depression and anxiety for along time. Last night I asked for some help from god. I just woke up with a tune in my head and hummed it to Google and it was exactly this song. Now I don't know if younger me remembers this song but I have completely forgotten it if I did. But the lyrics match beautifully with how I've been feeling these past years. I feel that she sent me this song as a message and I thank you. Bizarre it came out 2 months before April 1992 when she passed as well! Thankyou for this beutiful soulful music! I'll be listening to more of your stuff now ❤❤❤
So sorry for your loss ❤ Even though the years pass by, the love always remains. ❤️ You mention the melody. This song is almost identical to two other songs from the early 90's. Firstly 'Love Makes The World Go Round' by Don-E (which was released 3 months after Alison Limericks song in 1992) Then 'Midnight At The Oasis' by the Brand New Heavies (August 1994)
Lovely lady. Used to be in Starlight Express when I worked Front of House. She was always nice to everyone. Love her voice and so happy that she 'made it on her own' for herself outside the show! This and Where Love Lives truly stand the test of time!
I remember being a young teenager and hearing this song on the radio late one night, when I should've been getting my _8 hrs of sleep for tomorrows math test_ or whatever. I remember how I snuck down to the piano in the the living-room, Wide Awake! I just *had* to work out those chords. They were just hypnotising me! I was in some state of ecstasy delving into those sexy sophisticated harmonies while simultaneously working the damper pedal HARD not wake up my mum and dad...
Yeah, a beautiful song 💖 but with words why and what . Sense words.. if you got so much HURT , HEARTACHES. This is what God open doors to you.. Make things happen on your owns .. dark clouds will open and see 🕯️. 🙏🙏💯
So true, I freaking love this song, it's in my top 20 best songs ever made and for a short while my best song of all time until Kim Sims took the throne, then Brand New Heavies since 1994 and are still there to this day. Like the bit that kicks in at 3:42.
I knew I wasn't going crazy, she did a track with JTQ 'Stepping into my life'. For those of you who are acid jazz officianados, give it a listen of the 'In the hand of the inevitable' album.
Ok, so everybody knows Where Love Lives and associates her with that, but this is also a top top tune too. I'd love to see her perform live one of these days. Love her voice. Classy lady and singer.
Pure joy. This music is amazing, and this age can't do anything like that anymore. Unfortunately. It's good that we have these wonders from the past. The clip is great. After work, people have fun with great music. Relax
I can imagine I'm walking down a summer street with a radio in my hand and playing this song. A beautiful gorgeous song that always makes me think of a summer's day
This reminds me so much of the Brand New Heavies! Its very 'Midnight At The Oasis'. It also sounds just like 'Love Makes The World Go Round' by Don-E. All these songs i love! Something so comforting and wonderfully nostalgic about the melody.
PLEEAASE....for the sake of us all, bring this great music and quality in videos back! It´s REAL music. Women singing in a vid were highly talented, fully dressed in a great style and had class and charisma, without the need to present their almost naked body smashing out disgusting lyrics, My gosh, how far have we fallen!
Yeah, just listen to the song is heartbreaking.. but with al going there must be a meaning i get so much Hurt and Shattered 💔😭 iver the times. 2021-2024.. yeah as to just get in s quiet corner.. with lots of pain. .on my own.. yah!!
15 years ago, I was heard your song in korean boogaloo dance perfomance in the club in Korea on youtube. 'youtube' not like this cuases many pirates programs are helping movies saving in files and roms. I lost it in several move.I want to see that dance but there is no clip. there is boogaloo dancers, two mas and one girl dance in your song. I hope you connect them and watching their dance and upload your channel. I remember front man name is Gondra in 'K-ogs' Korean dance team in 90~00. Maybe his name is Condra. Beautiful dance and drama in your song. I hope you watch that movie. And thanks for your music.
I adore this song!! She is classy, her voice is astounding and the video is one of the best ones I have ever watched!! Alison, you do got what it takes!!
Alison's voice could easily fool someone, thinking you are listening Oleta Adams. I’m not familiar with the work of Limerick, my comparison stays only on surface observation while listening this song. Very fine song indeed. Certain freshness, regardless of age, yet, the glimpse of better times.
In a world thats f**ked up, a virus changing everyones life, all I have to do is listen to this track and im back in '92 with a smile on my face.
Damned right!
Fear and apathy, not a "virus"
acid jazz is always beautiful
One of my favourite songs from the 90's. Sounds just as amazing in 2023!
Heard this for the first time on the radio today - how have I missed this wonderful song? And no, I haven't been under a rock for 30 years either! 😂 It's so uplifting and happy.
I felt the same way when I heard it while watching a drag show 😅

Christ I miss the 90s.

Such a under rated artist.
A great song even after all these years!
Good good days!

What an uplifting vibe! Great tune to put a smile on your kisser😁
Soundtrack to my early-90s life
FM Horizonte, de Buenos Aires, Argentina , año 1992. Hermoso recuerdo
Lo acaba de pasar la misma radio, le debemos mucho a Horizonte
とてもいいPV!アリソンのイメージもとてもいい!乾燥のスキャットも最高ではないか!
彼氏彼女のKISSもGOOD。
damn this takes me back to a better time
The elegance......miss those days. Cardi B/Lizzo could learn a thing or 2 with these beautiful classy ladies.
👏
grande Alison Limerick...
100% Pure Quality!

Great song ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐It's always reminded me of the Swing out sister, melody and songwriting, would have loved to hear a version of theirs.. 🙂
Absolutely class tune! Big time fave from early 90's!!! Some fool disliked it!!!
When you're as pissed off as hell & feel like crap, just play this song and you'll feel like a million dollars.

Totally agree ❤
Woke up humming this song to myself and reminiscing about all the stuff she did especially with incognito. Truly a gem
Nice. Wasn't it Jocelyn Brown who was with Incognito tho?
@@gavdw50 I stand corrected. JTQ
I knew I wasn't going crazy, she did a track with JTQ 'Stepping into my life'. For those of you who are acid jazz officianados, give it a listen of the 'In the hand of the inevitable' album.
It is like a tarot reading! Amazing! It is sad in a very positive way to pick up yourself back again!

One of my favourite songs in the whole world. Such good memories with this one.
Simply one of the besz song ever
Is this shot at the Cafe de Paris? Looks like?😊
Alison looks like the local doctor who likes to get down after surgery closes. This can only be a good thing.
She's timeless
