This is the best tutorial I've ever come across for any crochet pattern. Thank you so much for doing this! It's a beautiful stitch, and you explain it so well.
Awesome tutorial. I have a beautiful washcloth that is working up in this pattern and will soon be making an afghan. Written pattern based on this tutorial for all of you asking: Foundation chain: Must chain multiples of 8 until appropriate width. Row 1: Ch 1, skip 4, 9 dc, skip 3, 1 sc, skip 3, 9 dc, repeat until finish last full repetition, skip 3, 1 sc. Change color. Row 2: Ch 3, turn, 4 dc tog, ch 4, 1 sc, ch 3, 9 dc tog, ch 4, 1 sc, ch 3, 9 dc tog, ch 4, repeat until last full repetition, 5 dc tog. Row 3: ch 4, turn, 4dc into top of 5dc tog from row 2, into each sc work sc, into each 9 dc tog work 9dc. Repeat until last full repetition of row, 5 dc into eye of dc tog from row 2. Change color Row 4: Ch 4, turn, 9 dc tog, ch 4, 1 sc, ch 3, 9 dc tog, ch 4, 1 sc, repeat. Row 5: Ch 1, turn, 9 dc into each eye of shells, 1 sc into each previous sc. Repeat until last full repetition. 1 sc into 4th chain of turning chain from beginning of row 4. Repeat rows 2-5 until desired length.
For those that insist on a written pattern do you remember backin the days when we actually used a pencil and paper to write our patterns with?? Watch video and write it down! Great videos! Love your clear instructions! Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos
I suppose we disagree. When people ask for assistance and are denied that, then i hear an air of superiority that benefits no one. I'm very glad no assistance was required by you, but to assume others think like you do, is an erroneous judgement.
Thanks for a very easy tutorial. I had previously tried to follow a pattern of this design and for some reason i couldn't get it right. I have been crocheting many years and your videos are great for all abilities :)
Absolutely lovely!!! Your a wonderful teacher and very talented!!! I absolutely adore your accent you sound like such a sweet person!!! I am going to make a good friend of mine a blanket with this pattern in pretty fall colors. I have looked for how to do this pattern for quite a while and didn't know what it was called. My sweet grandmother that has passed made this pattern as a baby blanket for myself and also my oldest son her great grandson when he was a baby. So glad I finally found it!!!
Lovely pattern. Is there a written pattern to go with this please? Also please can you tell me the colours you used. I think they are a lovely combination x
Thank you, I love this blanket. Can you please tell me the amount of stitches I need if I want a bigger blanket, or how can I multiple the #'s of change to make bigger blanket. Thank you.
Hi +Jacqueline Wolfgramm, if you watch part 1 of this tutorial (linked in the description box) you will see that you can make your blanket as big as you want as long as you chain a multiple of 8. I hope this helps, thank you for watching x
This is a great video and easy to follow. I'm making a Queen size afghan for my daughter. And if anyone has done a border on this stitch, I'd love to know what you used. Thank you!!
+Niki Angert thank you very much! I imagine it will look great as a big afghan - if you have twitter I would love to see a photo once you are finished? A nice simple border would look great with this - if you go to the end of my textured baby blanket tutorial (a grey blanket and bunny toy in the photo) I show how to add a single crochet border x
How could you make a border for a blanket? Would it be easier to end with the bottom half of the wheel to make symmetrical and then just make the border the best you can to make it as square as possible and keep the border simple?
+WoolyWondersCrochet I'm thinking 6235 Grey Blue was your fifth color. Do you happen to remember how many skeins of each you used for the blanket size in your tutorial? Thank you for your detailed videos - I've learned so much from you.
do you have written instructions anywhere? the beginning and ending of rows gets confusing to me. I don't know how to start and end each row as it is different each time. Thanks
+Luanne Roeder Yes!!! She actually does say so at the very end of this video. You repeat the instructions for those four rows until you have the length you want.
Your site Go in explaining the Pattern, I haven't done this in a long time I can't wait to go Shopping for my colors & thro on-blanket, how much yarn do I need please email this info thnx a million.Love ur voice too.)
I just started with row 1 - doing 6 dc together, chain 3, then 1sc in middle stitch, chain 3, and then 6 dc together............It looks almost identical to the starting edge.
Hi, Kim, though I didn't hear back from the lady who did this video, I did find the pattern online, and have started making it; it is really pretty! If you give me your email address, I will email the pattern to you. :)

How much yarn did you use for the whole blanket? Was it a baby blanket or an adult one? I wanted to try this pattern with a bulky yarn for a 10mm hook...but I don't know how many balls of yarn to buy :)
What a rip! I saw this lovely stitch, followed the links to written directions, because I much prefer written directions. So, the written directions give you the first two rows, and then you have to watch a video to get the final piece. Which makes no sense to me, I don't like video directions, which is why I went to the written directions. I am glad yarn comes apart easily, this is useless.
Ahhh, youtube. There's always got to be at least one troll. I for one, am glad I didn't have to pay to download difficult to understand written instructions.
This is the best tutorial I've ever come across for any crochet pattern. Thank you so much for doing this! It's a beautiful stitch, and you explain it so well.
I have been crocheting for years. Just want to say you are indeed a great instructor!! Well done!!
Thank you for sharing this tutorial. Your stitching is impeccable with clear and concise directions. I can’t wait to start mine.

Not a very helpful comment
I think watching a good video tutorial and writing everything down is super helpful. Hand holding is nice but not always necessary.
I suppose we disagree. When people ask for assistance and are denied that, then i hear an air of superiority that benefits no one. I'm very glad no assistance was required by you, but to assume others think like you do, is an erroneous judgement.
Where have you been hiding?! This was the best tutorial I've found. Thank you!
Best teacher EVER!Greetings from Bruges (Belgium)!
I've watched many tutorials on this and this is the best video I've watched! Easy to understand. Thanks again for your help and sharing. 💖🌷💜

A doozy for a left handed soul such as myself! Thank you!!
Love this! Really wish it had time stamps added so that I could go directly to each part of the tutorial.
so beautiful, do u have a written pattern?

Hi , do you have written instructions for this pattern. Thank you!
Birdie B 10TH uikhj
I will try this pattern. Thanks for sharing!!
Could you crochet over your ends with this pattern as you work, or would the yarn show through too much?
+Grace Power You could definitely work over your ends as you go. It will save a lot of time! Thank you for watching x
Thank you for sherring,it is beautiful, and good explenation.
How do you finish the edges once the Afghan is complete?
Hi can you tell me what colours you are using Thank you.
Hi diane leek, I used colours 7219, 4305, 8112 and 0100 of Drops Lima yarn. I always buy my yarn from Wool Warehouse. Thanks for watching x
WoolyWondersCrochet
Thank you,you have a good eye for colours.
WoolyWondersCrochet you used 5 colors , but only 4 listed below. Could you please list the 5th color? Truly appriciate it. Thanks.
+spunki79 I know it's been seven months since your question, but my guess would be 6235 Grey Blue
Thanks
DSM2015
umm ok so im a little confused im starting on row five do i chain 4 and skip 5 so that my nine line up
Thank you it's beautiful and your lesson was very clear. Love it.
This is an excellent video. Thank you.
After row 5, do you repeat row`s 2345,2345,2345,2345,untill you`re done?
+Luanne Roeder Yes!!! She actually does say so at the very end of this video. You repeat the instructions for those four rows until you have the length you want.
very nice instructions. can u plz give a tutorial for a baby frok.
Your site Go in explaining the Pattern, I haven't done this in a long time I can't wait to go Shopping for my colors & thro on-blanket, how much yarn do I need please email this info thnx a million.Love ur voice too.)
my only complaint is how do you square off the top of the pattern? like how the beginning it's squared off.. the sides are but not the top
Just work a row of 1 double crochet into each stitch to get a straight edge. Then add a border to your blanket and it will look great! X
I just started with row 1 - doing 6 dc together, chain 3, then 1sc in middle stitch, chain 3, and then 6 dc together............It looks almost identical to the starting edge.
Are there any written directions?
sandra ballou crochet
I have watched other videos of this stitch. They say to sc into the first chain not the 4th chain at the end of row 5
Just like many others below, I'm wondering if you have written instructions for this pattern?
+Cindy DeGroot Hi Cindy I was wondering if you ever got this pattern? If so would you forward it to me please. I would be so great full
.
Hi, Kim, though I didn't hear back from the lady who did this video, I did find the pattern online, and have started making it; it is really pretty! If you give me your email address, I will email the pattern to you. :)
Hi! Cindy, I would love to have the written instructions also, if you don't mind sending them to me!
I'm still waiting for the poster of this video to share the pattern, as I don't have it. :)

It’s amazing and easy thanks
สวยมากค่ะอยากทำเป็นจัง
How much yarn did you use for the whole blanket? Was it a baby blanket or an adult one? I wanted to try this pattern with a bulky yarn for a 10mm hook...but I don't know how many balls of yarn to buy :)
thank you so much!
I subscribed your channel
Wow
it was OK, but next time if you do do another video then could you go a little slower? good video I subscribed it
The video skips and doesn't show how to begin
+Jilly patterson This video is Part 2. Part 1 link is in the description box.

Hi, I haven't posted the written pattern to this tutorial anywhere. I just created a tutorial of the Catherine stitch for those who want it x
Ahhh, youtube. There's always got to be at least one troll. I for one, am glad I didn't have to pay to download difficult to understand written instructions.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
