Love this simple blanket. I've worked several of your projects so far (first grandbaby on the way) and have been very pleased with the results. Your explanations and demonstration are very clear and precise with just enough repetition to get the point without being monotonous. I would like a demonstration on how you hold your yarn in the left hand. Everyone seems to do it differently and I often wind up with larger projects than what was intended because my stitches are too loose. I think if I follow the same method of tension, it might help solve the problem. Thanks for your lovely videos and I look forward to trying more of them.

As a novice, I really like this pattern. Excellent instruction. One tip: I had difficulty making an even border on the 'rough' end, so I worked my first sc row in the same color as the blanket. The unevenness doesn't show, and my contrast color row is even.

You two ladies can turn your chain over and crochet your first row stitch pattern into the back bumps of your single crochet base row chain stitches. This is how I always do my first row. Search Tamara Kelly. She teaches this method as well for a smooth straight finished looking foundation row. Hope this helps.

I have done quite a lot of crotchet but have never done this stitch. It looks very neat and I am keen to try it. I've done lot of squares so this is a really useful video showing how to keep the sides of the blanket straight. Thank you so much. I shall certainly have a go and if I get stuck refer again to your clear explanations.

So as a beginner, I have been inadvertently crocheting into the front loops on all my projects, not both. But if I could only add a photo of how this impacted my blanket, it looks lovely! There are holes and little flower-like knots. Thank you so much for your tutorial; though I "messed it up," it's a marvelous and simple pattern that is amenable to nice variation. Cheers.

Maybe there is something different about my crochet hook. It says US G 4.0 MM but is it so much smaller than yours! I have a metal 5.00 MM that looks closer to the size in the video. Could my hook be the wrong size?? Did everyone else use a 4mm and it turned out okay? Also will Red Heart medium 4 work for the yarn? Thanks for your help. I LOVE this blanket and your instructions are so easy!!

You used to have a very simple beginners blanket with just single crochet. I believe you were making it for your dog. It was my very first project probably 8 or 9 years ago. I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I wanted to send it to a friend who wanted to learn how to crochet. Did you take it down? I remember you were actually making it for your dog.

I really like how you've explained everything in detail, especially for a beginner, you went at a reasonable pace and truly did a wonderful job! I was wondering though, how do I do the 3 rows of border if I'm only using 1 color? Do I still do a slip stitch at the end of each row or how do I start off the 2 rows after the first border row?
    Thank you so much!

Made this blanket 36x36 square using about 5 skeins Red Heart Baby Hugs in Dolphin, plus one skein each of colors Happy, Frosting, and Lilac. Obviously a baby girl blanket but not too pink and cutsie. Just very lovely soft and adorable. Easy stitch pattern that kind of lets you know right away if you’ve messed up somehow. Was a good comforting pass time for me while I recover from an injury. Would like to make a matching baby beanie with extra yarn. Any suggestions?

Great tutorial! What wool did you use - size, color, brand?
What happens if I create a “double” border with each of the three border colors, to stress their colors? A. Does it look good? B. Do I need to make a different pattern than four at the corners on the first row and then one on one on all the rest? I hope I hear back from you. Thank you so much.

This is probably the easiest to understand tutorial I've seen. Can you please tell me how many rows you made? Thank you!
