The whispers are an example of true brotherhood. They never had a single lineup change in their entire history. When one member went to prison in the ‘80’s they performed as a quartet and made sure his wife received his share. He returned to his spot upon release. When another member died in the 90’s they vowed not to replace him so that his family could receive his share. A second member died a few years ago. They are now a trio. They are fantastic live.

Great reaction! The Whispers were tight but The Temptations were The Truth when it came to precision dancing and a range of voices and music! Y’all really need to check of Sly and The Family Stone! Sly Stone was the Prince of the 70’s as far as writing the songs, playing all the instruments, recording and mixing the songs, and what he wrote was fat funk! Sly, James Brown and George Clinton invented funk and both James and George had the same bass player, Bootsy Collins. You can’t have funk without bass and Bootsy was only 18 when he and his brother Catfish started working with James!

Love the Whispers... I know I'm late, but every soul group isn't a Motown artist. I'm pretty sure you've done your homework by now😊 I do appreciate your channel

"Rock Steady" (produced by LA & Babyface) "Lady" and "Lost and Turned Out" are other hits by The Whispers you should check out!
P.S. I don't think they were on Motown

Saw in an interview not long ago, The Whispers said that the group The O'Jays taught them about showmanship and how important it was. All of the groups at this time were fantastic. You should check out the group The Dramatics. Check out their song "Me, Myself, and I"or "Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get".

In the late seventies when this was popular, I thought of its title and chorus as echoing the iconic 1967 Sonny and Cher song, "The Beat Goes On."

There are 2 Lead Singers, They are Twins and one stand on the Right and the other on the Left... In the early videos they never let you see them together or side by side for the illusion that it is just 1 of them.... Love this Song!

Sounds like bass player, writer and producer Leon Sylvers of the Sylvers family group. He did a lot of bass work for Solar Records artists.

Totally love this tune. 1979, met the man I married last November. Me chucking coins into the jukebox while he played pool in the local pub. It was played several times at our wedding since everyone associated me to this tune xxx

Just saw Zapp two weekends ago here in Ohio, where they are originally from. Sad since Roger is gone, but his brother at 70 something is still doing standing back flips in the show. Their hit Computer love was fun, but they closed with California Love, which founder/brother Roger Trout man did with 2Pac and Dr. Dre. They had at least 20 people from the audience on stage! It was amazing!❤
