I used another clean vocals guide but it used mostly the same effects. I felt like my song sounded so flat and amateur after, though, even with tweaking values. Now I know that what it probably needs is a tiny bit of reverb. I should also straight up pan my ad lib tracks where they overlap and decrease their highs (I used tremolo effects before and it was super annoying). My impatient butt almost clicked out of this video. I’m so glad I made myself watch to the end. Thanks!

This is a great tutorial on mixing in band lab but I have questions! Is there a specific reason why I need to fade the beginning and the ending of my audio?
thanks so much! and great question Jing. the reason you want to fade the audio in and out is to make your vocal recordings sound smoother in the song. if your vocal recording has a lot of noise in it, and it's not faded in, the listener will easily be able to hear all of the harsh cuts whenever your vocal audio starts. with the fading in and out, the listener won't be able to hear the harsh cuts, and will only hear the vocals when you are actually singing. i hope this helps explains it!

This is a great tutorial on mixing in band lab but I have questions! Is there a specific reason why I need to fade the beginning and the ending of my audio?

and great question Jing. the reason you want to fade the audio in and out is to make your vocal recordings sound smoother in the song.
if your vocal recording has a lot of noise in it, and it's not faded in, the listener will easily be able to hear all of the harsh cuts whenever your vocal audio starts.
with the fading in and out, the listener won't be able to hear the harsh cuts, and will only hear the vocals when you are actually singing.
