Hey everyone! I'm moving away from tracking my foods so I couldn't really share the exact macro breakdown but I hope this helps! I incorporate refeeds, cheat days and spontaneous treats into my diet really often and straight after I always go back to eating exactly the same as normal to let my body settle. Lots of love! xxx
I really appreciate that you didn't restrict your calories or "punish" yourself after your cheat day! A lot of people go on crazy "cleanses" and "detoxes" after a day of indulging which is really unhealthy! Your mindset toward food is admirable 😊👏🙌💗
+Carbs Are Happiness thank you!! Cleansing never worked for me because it usually means having a super low calorie intake the next day and that just caused me to feel the need to overeat again a week later. I'm definitely happier with my mindset towards food and also life now (: xxxx

+Amy J hey sweetie! If you want to be able to do them, you can practice in front of a smith machine with the bar at belly button height. Keep one hand on the bar and use it for balance and for support on the way up, and over time you'll be able to loosen your grip on it 😊 I really hope I can organise what I have in mind soon! Hopefully in the meantime I can be part of an event where we can do a meet up more casually 🤗😘 xxx

Natacha Océane thanks so much for the reply! I enjoy any video you make but any tips on staying motivated when life is busy? I know you mentioned before that when you were in uni you'd take the pressure off workouts and focus on studying but I'm going to be on clinical rotations and working 6-7 days per week and I want to maintain the healthy changes I've made so far this year. It's just so difficult when I'll be so tired all the time but I don't want that to be an excuse.

Natacha Océane i'm in pharmacy school and graduate in May 2018 so about one year. That's why I want to keep the healthy habits going because I really only started eating cleaner since 2017 started and my exercise right now is walking in my neighborhood. I just started (last week, terrible, I know) doing 30 second sprints for 10 sets o_o
+blieveinangels08 that's not terrible, I'm sure you always had a lot going on and it's difficult to be super on top of everything at once 😊 I think given that it'll be for a year and you'll have not much energy to spare, my main tip would be keeping it fun and picking only the exercise style that gets you excited - that might take a little experimenting at first but it helped me to look forward to working out so much! Also, if you have a few lighter days where you walk, that's great! I have a few lighter days every week out of choice and it works so well for me 😊 hope that helps! 😘😘 xx
Great advice on how to think about cheat days. Mine used to be very structured on a time line but now I have one every 1-2 months depending on events in my life ....yesterday was a wedding we attended so I ate clean for my first 3 meals and then had a cheat meal with wedding cake. Understandable! I'm always the one making healthy dishes or desserts for loved ones and I often don't mention how healthy or macro-friendly it is because I don't want them to think it's less tasty. Why do people think healthy means bland? They're usually always surprised something I make is healthy because it tastes so good! I hope people's perceptions of health foods changes someday soon.

With a full time job and other things on my plate, I already feel like being able to work out is such an achievement, but tracking macros is something I could never do. I also feel like obsessing over macros is a recipe for disaster for anyone recovered from an eating disorder, so I am glad that you have moved away from that to eating more intuitively. So glad I found your channel! Such a breath of fresh air 😀 I have struggled with an eating disorder for years! I was lead to believe carbs are the devil and sugar should NEVER be touched! I would feel so guilty when I’d eaten either of those things 😔and totally beat myself up afterwards. I’ve started lifting heavier and mixing up my workouts, my body has transformed, still got some to go but you have definitely opened my eyes 👀 to a way more relaxed approach 😘😘😘
You were so right, when you told me i would like this video. Food + training + Natacha, in one video = me getting out running way later than i planned. I had a while where i tracked every calorie that i ate, AND ate way to little. Today i mostly only track my breakfast, and eat 80/20 with lots of awesome food. Wish you all the best! 😀

Natacha Océane well I did enjoy it. I've got to the point now with the help of you, I've stopped feeling guilty because all the guilt in the world is not going to change what I've eaten. In fact it's probably more detrimental to feel guilty as the cycle will continue. I'm sick of spending too much time feeling guilty 😂 as you say, you now feel free. And it means that I don't feel as satisfied from the treat and subconsciously that makes me want another one sooner. Natacha Océane I'm actually from New Zealand but have lived in NYC for six years 😊 came here to study and then stayed on. There are some great gyms but I know I'll never go if I have to travel and they are quite expensive. I guess you do get what you pay for! Natacha, I love how much respect you have for your body! I just don't understand how you eat so much and stay so lean? I've watched your metabolism video but I know if I ate like that I'd just get a bigger belly 😂 I love my gym and training but I have to be strict with my eating if I want to see results! +Hannah-Jane Pryor hey sweetie! Thank you so much for the love 😊🤗 honestly the metabolism video is the method I used - it's not really much more than that! I was initially sceptical too but I read a lot of science journals to try to understand it and it's the only approach I've found that makes sense and it then worked for me! Speaking to a lot of girls and having previously had an ED, I really think the biggest hurdle is the patience it takes for it to work though. If it hasn't worked for you yet, I immediately start to think that you just need more time - if your body starts to bloat or feel a little uncomfortable, that's totally normal as it recalibrates, your hormones readjust and find a new normal etc. It took me about 6 months to go from 1800 calories to 2300 with similar (even slightly reduced) body fat so it does take time. How long have you been going for? Xxx

I used to have bulimia and I've tried sooo many diets. I thinned out quite a lot when I went vegan but my protein dropped and I couldn't keep it up. For a good few months now I've been eating and training intuitively but I just seem to be increasing on the scales and visually!! I just can't get my head round how NOT restricting is going to help me get lean and strong and basically lose weight which is what I hope to do! What should I do 😅 xx
+Hannah-Jane Pryor I know it seems counterintuitive! I know what you mean about the fad diets and it's so easy to slip into that because there's such a strong emotional attachment to losing fat and looking "good" because of social pressures but I can't recommend enough taking the slow approach that I recommend in Eat More, Get Leaner and How to Calculate your Macros. Another really important tip is to not actually look at body weight if you exercise because training breaks the relationship between fat loss and body weight, so looking at he scales is actually a major distraction - for example I weigh 10-15 kg more now than I did at my leanest with restricting and I am visibly leaner now. 😊 xxx

Even though I treat my body better than I did when I had bulimia, the mental side is much harder to shift. I might just repeat watch those videos till the message sinks in I hope! hey Claire! thanks so much, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. For the pistol squat, you can try getting a smith machine and setting the bar at like belly button height. Then practice pistol squatting in the bar of that with your hands on the it for balance and for leverage if you're still developing the strength. Over time, you'll need less help from the bar and you'll be able to just hover your hands over it, which is when you know you're good to go! Hope that helps! xxx
This is perfect because today was my cheat day lol the thing is that I only like to binge on sweet foods like biscuits, cake or cereal ( I ate like 2 whole packages of cookies today... insane I know) and sometimes I feel really bad because I know how bad too much sugar can be. Anyway, tomorrow I will continue eating healthy as I always do, so there is no problem at all (like you said on the video) :)

I remember you saying that and thank you for the support! 🤗 I usually train for 45-75mins depending on the workout style I'm doing and when I'm on holiday and want to keep eating well at restaurants, I'll often go for white meat or fish not fried (roasted, grilled, barbecued etc), lots of extra vegetables and then whatever kind of carb source they do well - I just try to avoid foods where lots of oil will be used as that makes me feel greasy and it adds a lot of calories without adding more volume to the food to make me more full. Even if the restaurant doesn't offer that on the menu they will almost always have no problem with it 😊 and sometimes I just enjoy being on vacation and eating out with friends and family! Xxx

I incorporate refeeds, cheat days and spontaneous treats into my diet really often and straight after I always go back to eating exactly the same as normal to let my body settle.

Keep one hand on the bar and use it for balance and for support on the way up, and over time you'll be able to loosen your grip on it 😊 I really hope I can organise what I have in mind soon! I know you mentioned before that when you were in uni you'd take the pressure off workouts and focus on studying but I'm going to be on clinical rotations and working 6-7 days per week and I want to maintain the healthy changes I've made so far this year. It's just so difficult when I'll be so tired all the time but I don't want that to be an excuse.

Natacha Océane i'm in pharmacy school and graduate in May 2018 so about one year. That's why I want to keep the healthy habits going because I really only started eating cleaner since 2017 started and my exercise right now is walking in my neighborhood. I just started (last week, terrible, I know) doing 30 second sprints for 10 sets o_o
+blieveinangels08 that's not terrible, I'm sure you always had a lot going on and it's difficult to be super on top of everything at once 😊 I think given that it'll be for a year and you'll have not much energy to spare, my main tip would be keeping it fun and picking only the exercise style that gets you excited - that might take a little experimenting at first but it helped me to look forward to working out so much! Also, if you have a few lighter days where you walk, that's great! I have a few lighter days every week out of choice and it works so well for me 😊 hope that helps! 😘😘 xx
Great advice on how to think about cheat days. Mine used to be very structured on a time line but now I have one every 1-2 months depending on events in my life ....yesterday was a wedding we attended so I ate clean for my first 3 meals and then had a cheat meal with wedding cake. Understandable! I'm always the one making healthy dishes or desserts for loved ones and I often don't mention how healthy or macro-friendly it is because I don't want them to think it's less tasty. Why do people think healthy means bland? They're usually always surprised something I make is healthy because it tastes so good! I hope people's perceptions of health foods changes someday soon.

So glad I found your channel! Such a breath of fresh air 😀 I have struggled with an eating disorder for years! I was lead to believe carbs are the devil and sugar should NEVER be touched! I would feel so guilty when I’d eaten either of those things 😔and totally beat myself up afterwards. I’ve started lifting heavier and mixing up my workouts, my body has transformed, still got some to go but you have definitely opened my eyes 👀 to a way more relaxed approach 😘😘😘
You were so right, when you told me i would like this video. Food + training + Natacha, in one video = me getting out running way later than i planned. I had a while where i tracked every calorie that i ate, AND ate way to little. Today i mostly only track my breakfast, and eat 80/20 with lots of awesome food. Wish you all the best! 😀

Your gym looks AMAZING. Such a variety of equipment. My gym in New York is horrendous and doesn't even have a squat rack. Switching soon to a new one but it's still nothing like yours! I'm moving to London next year, though, and would love recommendations of good UK gyms if you have any! x

Natacha Océane I'm actually from New Zealand but have lived in NYC for six years 😊 came here to study and then stayed on. There are some great gyms but I know I'll never go if I have to travel and they are quite expensive. I guess you do get what you pay for! I was recently back in NZ on tour and it was so nice having access to good gyms again. Thanks so much for being so helpful - will definitely get in touch once I make the move 😊 xx

Natacha, I love how much respect you have for your body! I just don't understand how you eat so much and stay so lean? I've watched your metabolism video but I know if I ate like that I'd just get a bigger belly 😂 I love my gym and training but I have to be strict with my eating if I want to see results! Why is this??
I'd love to live with that freedom to eat as I please (within moderation), should I just trust your method and pray I don't get fatter 🙈

+Hannah-Jane Pryor hey sweetie! Thank you so much for the love 😊🤗 honestly the metabolism video is the method I used - it's not really much more than that! I was initially sceptical too but I read a lot of science journals to try to understand it and it's the only approach I've found that makes sense and it then worked for me! Speaking to a lot of girls and having previously had an ED, I really think the biggest hurdle is the patience it takes for it to work though. If it hasn't worked for you yet, I immediately start to think that you just need more time - if your body starts to bloat or feel a little uncomfortable, that's totally normal as it recalibrates, your hormones readjust and find a new normal etc. It took me about 6 months to go from 1800 calories to 2300 with similar (even slightly reduced) body fat so it does take time. How long have you been going for? Xxx

I used to have bulimia and I've tried sooo many diets. I thinned out quite a lot when I went vegan but my protein dropped and I couldn't keep it up. For a good few months now I've been eating and training intuitively but I just seem to be increasing on the scales and visually!! I just can't get my head round how NOT restricting is going to help me get lean and strong and basically lose weight which is what I hope to do! What should I do 😅 xx
+Hannah-Jane Pryor I know it seems counterintuitive! I know what you mean about the fad diets and it's so easy to slip into that because there's such a strong emotional attachment to losing fat and looking "good" because of social pressures but I can't recommend enough taking the slow approach that I recommend in Eat More, Get Leaner and How to Calculate your Macros. Another really important tip is to not actually look at body weight if you exercise because training breaks the relationship between fat loss and body weight, so looking at he scales is actually a major distraction - for example I weigh 10-15 kg more now than I did at my leanest with restricting and I am visibly leaner now. 😊 xxx
Natacha Océane Thank you so much!! I would love so much to break that emotional attachment to losing weight/fat. Even though I treat my body better than I did when I had bulimia, the mental side is much harder to shift. I might just repeat watch those videos till the message sinks in I hope!

hey Claire! thanks so much, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. For the pistol squat, you can try getting a smith machine and setting the bar at like belly button height. Then practice pistol squatting in the bar of that with your hands on the it for balance and for leverage if you're still developing the strength. Over time, you'll need less help from the bar and you'll be able to just hover your hands over it, which is when you know you're good to go! Hope that helps! xxx
This is perfect because today was my cheat day lol the thing is that I only like to binge on sweet foods like biscuits, cake or cereal ( I ate like 2 whole packages of cookies today... insane I know) and sometimes I feel really bad because I know how bad too much sugar can be. Anyway, tomorrow I will continue eating healthy as I always do, so there is no problem at all (like you said on the video) :)

I remember you saying that and thank you for the support! 🤗 I usually train for 45-75mins depending on the workout style I'm doing and when I'm on holiday and want to keep eating well at restaurants, I'll often go for white meat or fish not fried (roasted, grilled, barbecued etc), lots of extra vegetables and then whatever kind of carb source they do well - I just try to avoid foods where lots of oil will be used as that makes me feel greasy and it adds a lot of calories without adding more volume to the food to make me more full. Even if the restaurant doesn't offer that on the menu they will almost always have no problem with it 😊 and sometimes I just enjoy being on vacation and eating out with friends and family! Xxx
