    Hey!! Today's video is about why I choose to keep carbs in my diet and I explain a little bit about why they work so well for me. Like I mention in the video, training and lifestyle can be different so it's worth spending some time exploring whether eating more carbs makes a difference and seeing what works for you (: Hope you're all having a wonderful week and thanks so much for watching ❤️❤️

      I‘m subscribed to other TH-cam fitness vloggers & a bunch of them follow rather unrealistic diets (at least for us regular folks). The food that they eat are not affordable or widely available. I have to buy food for my family, & can only really afford expensive Kombucha drinks & the like every now & then. Thanks for this, Natacha.

    It's honestly SO refreshing to see a youtuber that knows her material and is informative. I only found you today and I have yet to see a single video that didn't have some kind of material that I found incredibly useful or could relate to (as a Kines major in college). It's so nice to see someone who isn't constantly trying to sell me leggings or certain supplements that average people who aren't athletes need. Thank you.

    I think Social media influenced me to “fear” carbs. I swear, every where i looked were low carb foods, and the vloggers i would watch didnt eat many carbs or were paleo based eaters. I also tried a paleo approach for one and a half years, it worked ok at first, but i felt too restricted. I had little energy or strength... my workouts were slack... hormones out of whack... etc
    Then about 8 months ago i found you and i dont know something must have clicked in my brain lol - but you have really helped me with your informative videos. I increased my carbohydrates and actually ate rice and pasta and bread (omg i know right!?) for the first time in such a long time. I am now eating so much more, and feel SO much better. I actually feel leaner, meals feel satiating and i can eat so much more variety of food and best of all i dont look at carbs as being “bad” anymore. I love carbs. I cant believe i used to think so badly of them... it shows how social media can really have such a big influence on people.
    Do you think you could one day please upload a calethenics for beginners video? That would be amazing. I love the way you train, i love training like that too - bodyweight high intensity workouts! 🤗😁❤️
    Oh and btw i think calethenics workouts challenge me much more than weight training 😄 your workout looked insane!!

      Jessie B omg!!! i have a similar experience! been eating 1200 calories for so long my metabolism pratically stopped working. I lived in fear of carb and fat and even though I worked out pretty regularly my body wasnt changing. However since I have found natacha (2 months ago), I have slowly upped my calories in the past 4 weeks. I now EVEN EAT 3 TIMES A DAYYYY (would eat 2x a day and feel super sluggish) and actually get hungry!!!!! I havent lost weight, but all my clothes are lose now and more importantly I have noticed how much harder I can go during my gym sessions. I need to buy new yoga pants because they are starting to fall off during my HIIT session 😱😱😱 never going back to my starvation mode ever again!

      Jessie- I can completely relate and I applaud you for changing your diet for the better. A few years back, I followed a very restrictive low-carb diet, even while exercising hard-core 5-6 days a week. I got down to a very low body weight and it backfired on me, big time. Ever since, I have been struggling with my weight and eating habits. I really want to get back on track and I'm trying to find inspiration through Natacha's videos.

I appreciate that. So many people bash other diets just because it doesn’t work for them. Different diets work for different people. No BODY is the same. Love your videos💗

    i love carbs as well, i do really well with a high carb lifestyle, but one of my friends doesn't do well on carbs at all, she does better low carb (carbs are a trigger for her, if she starts having carbs she'll have all of the bad stuff, so she prefers to stay away from it if she can), so i guess it's different for everybody. Great video, very helpful - and your hair is SO beautiful btw, you look stunning

    • @alimakingmyway3006
      @alimakingmyway3006 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm at this crossroads myself. I love carbs but when I try and do a "balanced" diet it's a huge trigger for me and all I want to do is binge. I think my blood sugar spikes and then I'm hungry every hour. It sucks and I'm still trying to gain control. When I'm low carb it's like I'm more stable but I don't want to continue living in restriction because it's no way to live when one loves food so much lol

  • @Jubjoys
    @Jubjoys 7 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    You’re so strong!! Admire that u could do calisthenics, i find that calisthenics are so much harder than lifting weights. On a side note, i took your advice to increase my calorie and generally not restricting. This really help me not to binge and just enjoy some treats when i feel like to. So thankss natacha, watching your videos always inspire me alot

  • @shemica16

    I love food too! This is so strange, I used to eat about 3000 calories per day, I was 176cm at 72kg. Then I started working out and restricting calories, I lost weight and now I am at 63kg. Then the quarantine happened and because I stayed at home all day, I started grazing and snacking again. I started to eat all that "unhealthy" food again, like I wouldn't resist pizza or fries if offered, ate croissants and macarons from my favourite bakery, started to eat candy again (I love chocolate!)... So I came back to my eating habits before weight loss and have been eating like that since... And I am still 63kg! I don't count calories as much, but I can say roughly I eat 3-4k calories on some days and sometimes I'll eat under 2k. I just eat when I'm hungry. Some days I am just not hungry. Some days I feel like eating lots. The only thing changed is that I am working out regularly. I don't know how to explain it... But what I know is that I feel very happy right now. I can eat when I want and what I want and not care about gaining weight. And I have so much fun working out!

  • @nayalaa

    I did keto, and felt like I was going crazy lol. I LOVE CARBS! I will say, my mom is diabetic and the keto diet restored her blood sugar levels to normal - it was 300+ before keto, and came down to ~100 in six months. Even now, she's upped her carbs by a little and just keeps track of that macro in particular, but her blood sugar never gets as high as it once was.

    Natacha, you are such an inspiration! I am so happy that I have found your channel. Your video on binge eating really spoke to me. A few years back, I followed a very restrictive, low-carb diet, cutting out all of the foods I love, while trying to exercise 5-6 days a week. I had no energy, couldn't sleep through the night and felt so weak and depressed. Sadly, it backfired big time and I put on 60 pounds. I am still struggling to get back to a normal weight, but old habits die hard and I can't seem to break the cycle of binging and restricting. Watching you, I know it is possible to maintain a healthy lifestyle, while still enjoying food AND life to the fullest.

  • @AlexaVonSuess
    @AlexaVonSuess 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Girl this video spoke to me. I have a pancreatic disorder that prevents me from eating fat. So my daily intake usually accounts for 10 to 20% fat, 30% protein, and 50% carbs. Every trainer and nutritionist I've ever had has told me there would be no way I could bulk or cut on a high carb diet because they all subscribed to the paleo and keto lifestyle. Knowing that there are other people out there who thrive on other diets is awesome. Thank you for making this video and emphasizing that everyone is different.

      I have way more energy on high fat at the moment. I always felt sleepy on high carb and always felt hungry and like I never could eat enough, even when I was eating double the amount of calories I would normally need. I think it's different from person to person and you should try out with which amount you feel the best. I tried from 60% Carbs to now 10% Carbs for some weeks reducing or going up about 5-10% to see which one would benefit me most.

    When I first started to address my fitness, starting with my weight, I also thought I needed to cut carbs. This was back in October 2020. Later I’d realize it’s just CICO. And after calculating my calorie intake based on what I was eating, I realized I was only consuming 1400 calories a day. I was 205 lbs at the time! I was losing 5-6 lbs a week. It was very unhealthy.
    Luckily, I have things a bit more figured out now. I eat 2200 calories a day and I’m 143lbs as of this morning. Staying active and having balance in my diet is serving me well. And YOU are a big reason why I have been able to get to this point. You may not realize it, but you help better and even save lives. Thank You.

    I never restrict my carbohydrates! If I’m ever monitoring my carbs, it’s generally for what types of carbs they are: fibers and added sugars specifically! Otherwise, I used to restrict my carbs so drastically that I could barely push through my workouts and maintain a stable mood! Releasing the stress I revolved around them made such a huge difference in my lifestyle! Nope, I didn’t get fat either!

    Great video. I personally eat a ketogenic diet and probably will never go back, but I have PCOS and had moderate insulin resistance. I was always successful at losing weight on conventional diets by tracking calories but I never felt full/satisfied and had intense cravings all the time. Doing keto I've lost 23kg without tracking a singe calorie. I get a blood test every 6 months and my insulin is now totally normal, as are all my other levels. I think it's important to remember that there is no one best way to eat for everyone, and the best thing to do is find what works for you and stick with it regardless of what comes into fashion (unless it is backed by science).

    Great video! Love your stuff. I do a lot of glycolytic workouts as well as weights and I am so tired afterwards, I love how you talked about your keto experience. & how carbs give you the PUMP for your workouts - its what I am missing of course!!
    I am currently on a keto diet, for more reasons than just aesthetics! Amazing transformation in my physique - mental focus is on point! The goal is to become fat adapted and achieve metabolic flexibility (and aid my cells to become more insulin sensitive). I'm adding more carbs in before my workouts now and I can definitely feel the pump and can work a lot harder. Which is so beneficial. I think doing a keto 'reset' (6 weeks?) could be amazing for many of us to be able to sufficiently burn both glycogen and fat and different times (and increase insulin sensitivity). Its about using all these things as tools i.e having carbs before your workout is a tool to increase energy performance. To do this we need to emotionally detach ourselves from food and see it as fuel instead which is what nearly everybody has an issue with!! (e.g. We reward ourselves with food instead of listening to our bodies!) Do you have any psychological attachments with food? Would you be able to do a video about this? Thank you !! (sorry for the long comment !!!)

    God I love you! Thank you for being so raw and real and for helping us ladies (& men) not fear carbs and food for that matter!
    I have been plant based for 6 years after cancer and I was eating whole food plant based being very restrictive on the “whole” foods part.
    But without really realising how restrictive I had become, my weight wasn’t the issue, it was more a fear of having cancer again.
    I still eat as close to the earth as possible, but after listening to tour methods if I feel like eating vegan junk i have it 🍩 🍰
    I have never had the fear of eating high carb, as being plant based is very HIGH in carbs. One thing I love about this lifestyle is the ENERGY!!
    Prior to this 6 year ago I was low carb, high protein and including meat & dairy.
    But my energy levels were so LOW I didn’t enjoy the faster, harder, explosive & strength type exercises. Also my recovery was slow!
    Plant based my recovery is quick and I feel I can get back into another workout within a day of active rest.
    Your a amazing role model for many of us and I love that your so open to having that treat without punishing yourself afterwards or by working out or restricting.
    Also you often remind me of the long term approach which makes more sense.
    Lots of love & thank you xxx 🥰

    I bulk on keto and cut on carbs because I have health issues and keto makes me feel amazing but hungry all the time so it makes me gain weight.
    Healthy carbs are fine as long as you tolerate them, but if you have PCOS (1 every 5 women) like me or a lot of other issues keto will be better for you. Where most people get confused is that you probably won't lose any weight.

    I love how accurate your info is. Another thing worth mentioning is that carbs are the only source of energy for our brain. If you do not consume enough to fuel your brain it can contribute to shorter attention span, lack of concentration, brain fog, and just fatigue in general. Just dont cut carbs guys. They should make up *atleast* 50% of your daily intake of calories.

    I think it's important to remember that there are 3 metabolic types: carb type, protein type, and mixed type. While you are a carb type and you thrive off of carbs, people who are a protein type, such as myself, thrive off of high protein, high fat, and low carb, with high amounts of carbs making me tired, lethargic, and bloated. Just something to keep in mind 😊😊

    Well explained Natacha! I cutting now 'til July/August to get really lean (Goal: under 10% Bodyfat) but i will never come to the idea to cut out my carbs in the caloriedeficit on days i go to the gym! Without them, i can't samsh the weights i wonna hold to keep holding my musclemass! Carbs aren't an enemy as long you are in a caloriedeficit or have the calories to mainaining! Good that you know that point and explain it. Stay awesome! :)

    As a type one diabetic, I appreciate how a low-carb diet cab reduce the amount of insulin I take and whatnot. I just wish people didn't flock to extremely strict keto diets (that I dont even follow) just for weight loss. Some diets aren't made for everyone, same way a gluten-free diet is good for someone with Celiac but could kill healthy gut bacteria for the average person.

  • @mightyPavan2010
    @mightyPavan2010 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    1. You do not need any carbs whatsoever as long as you have adequate amounts of animal fat.
    2. Carbs are only used if you have no circulating fat. If your diet contains fat, eating carbs on top is very harmful. It activates the randle cycle - and sugar (from carbs) are trapped in your blood, because your cells take in fat and close themselves to carbs on a mixed macro diet. This leads to insulin spikes, eventually causing insulin resistance.
    3. Burning fat is advantageous compared to carbs. With carbs, all is converted to sugar - and you get an excess. With fat, you only create the amount of sugar that you need. Carbs (sugars) also glycate your proteins, causing cellular damage.
    4. But I agree, carbs help with power training (stan efferding), but not necessary for anyone else.
    But yes, carbs is the most fattening macro.

    Just seen this video, I love your videos and your attitude towards everything, it’s your opinion without being preachy...
    For me I lean towards Keto lower carb diets and I can still workout hard.. at 42... , carbs for me just make me turn into a carb monster, where I want to eat everything in site...
    But I will eat more some days and don’t stress about it, it’s about trying different things, and finding what works for you at that particular time in your life, you may feel and eat completely differently when you are in your 40’s..😊

If it's occuring during weight training it might be worth seeing a physio to check your form and range of movement as there maybe some tightness in your muscles or a weakness causing you to move differently and impact your knee (: xxx
