I was suddenly thinking about this scene earlier today, shortly after waking up, while my coffee ☕ was brewing in the machine. I went into a crazy level laughing episode. It's like I suddenly turned into a child, for just a few minutes. There was something else that made me laugh hysterically for a few minutes, maybe a few months ago. I don't remember what it was though. Scenes like this cause you're brain or you're deepest conceienscesness to remember forever though. This is probably the type of stuff that the earliest CaveMen did for music.
Some useless info on The Mosquitoes aka The Wellingtons The group was originally called The Lincolns, and recorded for Kapp Records. As The Wellingtons, they were signed by Walt Disney to record the theme song for Disney's The Wonderful World of Color. For Disneyland Records, they recorded numerous theme songs, including The Ballad of Davy Crockett for the mini-series Davy Crockett. The Wellingtons can be heard singing "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" in the soundtrack for the movie Fantastic Mr. Fox. The Wellingtons appeared as regulars on the variety television show Shindig! on their own and as backup singers to visiting acts. They also provided backup singing on recordings by other artists including Jan and Dean. The group traveled with star Donald O'Connor for six and a half years and also toured with The Supremes and Stevie Wonder.
Agree with what Ginger said here to Gilligan - but I also like Gilligan's comeback quote from his grandmother: never criticise anyone unless you can do better yourself - which then inspired the ladies' The Honeybees group and that backfired since The Mosquitoes were threatened by how good they were.
Aww, "the gnats" didn't have the electric guitars and sound boosting like " the mosquitoes" did! Gilligan had the enthusiasm, maybe he should have been the lead singer - like Peter Chris of KISS! lol
Maynard still knows how to play drums, sort of. Amazing what shows up off the back lot of that show. That type of show would never fly with todays mindset.
I don't care what anybody thinks, I think Gilligan's band would've been a perfect opening band for The Mosquitos. It would make people want to see The Mosquitos even more.
They should have just turned Skipper's song about "it's a long long way to Hawaii, but Duke will do it any way" into a full length song. Skipper had some chops for that one.
Whoever crafted the wooden guitars has to be an accomplishment woodworker. They should have constructed wooden amps!!! Where did the wigs come from?? Ms.Howell probably
Serious question did any other character other than Skipper ever break the 4th wall? I don't think this was the only time, but I think he's the only Gilligan's Island character that ever did.
You're right, Ginger did do that on occasion. I've often thought that Skipper's breaking of the fourth wall was a way of connecting him with the audience. He's always yelling and hitting Gilligan, but he would give these looks to the camera like, "You see what I'm dealing with?" and I feel that helps to soften his character for the viewers. Whether Sherwood Schwartz thought of that on purpose or not, I don't know, but he did it in almost every episode, so it was a stylistic choice.
@@WaterShowsProd Alan Hale Jr. grew up on the movie studio lots watching his famous father, the movie star Alan Hale, Sr. and others doing their scenes. Alan Jr. actually knew Oliver Hardy and got this bit from him. Gilligan and the Skipper are basically Laurel and Hardy updated to the 1960s and transplanted onto an island.
@@WaterShowsProd Thanks so much for responding. For the longest time (and certainly as a kid) I didn't notice the Laurel & Hardy link, either. At least not fully consciously, even though I watched Laurel & Hardy films Sunday on TV. But once you do notice, it kind of gives you a slightly different perspective on the duo and the show itself. Also, supposedly all seven characters were loosely based on the Seven Deadly Sins, though this may be more of an interpretation by outsiders, as I've not heard Sherwood Schwartz himself state this (but perhaps somewhere he did). I've only heard him say that the characters were a cross-section of society. But here is the interpretation I've seen elsewhere: Pride - the Professor Covetousness - Mr. Howell Lust - Ginger Anger - Mrs. Howell Gluttony - the Skipper Envy - Mary Ann Sloth - Gilligan

Bingo, Bango, Bongo, and Irving.
Classic rock.
They were the wellingtons who sang gilligans island theme song
The Skipper broke the 4th wall there at the end! A rarety on Gilligan's Island. Love it!
Damn!!! Bob Denver thought he was Keith Moon for a minute!!!
Such raw emotion captured by the masculine vocalizing accompanied by primitive rhymns that can only come from the soul. Pure genius.
The semi rock alter ego of the mosquitoes the gnats
A favorite episode
Gilligan killed it on those drums🤩
Laughed so hard at this!! I love this show!!!!
The Skipper looked like something out of A Clockwork Orange
...and the professor looked like an Oompa Loompa from Willie Wonka & the Chocolate Factory...minus the blue face!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
or Harpo Marx
Or a 1960s version of "Tommy Boy".
I thought the Skipper looked like Benny Hill.
I sure am glad they thought far enough ahead to pack guitars, drums, and wigs on the SS Minnow for their three hour tour!
Actually the professor made them look again.
Someone wrote a book in the 1980s detailing all of the logical screw ups on the TV show Gilligan's Island.
It was hysterical
And lots of trunks of💰 …
I always wondered where the Mosquitos got the electric power for their instruments from.
@@daleeloph6888 Gilligan on his bicycle?

COOL!! Did not know any of these things!

Oh the tight trousers!
They are still better than todays so called singers.
My sentiments exactly!
Got there right!!!!!
Today's music horrible!!!
Glad I grew up in the 70s....

For a second, I thought the professor was Jimmy Page.
Gilligan looked like a British drummer.
The first grunge band!

Alan Hale in that wig and that hat!
All he needs is coke bottle sunglasses and he would look like Chip Z Nuff
"The Gnats" is where it's at!!!
The flip side of the Honey Bees!Hilarious!
Lol Gilligan throws off his glasses and the next scene they are back again
That’s because they’re on Gilligans Island.
Real clean life..
Early days of death metal

I think the professor really launched the Alice in Chains guitar vibe.....RIP.....
I’m going to tell my kids this was One Direction
A riot 🤣😂
What was the name of the group that Gilligan, Skipper, The Professor and Mr. Howell were in?
The Gnats
Sounds like my band
But like Gillian we won't Give up something to do in My retirement
I still think The Gnats had a chance. They just needed more rehearsal. ;)
The monkres

A "Three Hour Tour" provides them with mid-60's accommodations?
The Goodies!
The musical equivalent of a Chinese fire drill.
Gilligan's Island was silly garbage ....but gosh we loved it.

Ginger would sometimes look at the audience with a dismayed or confused expression when her attempts to flirt with Gilligan didn’t go as planned.
