    If you're looking for the deep and safest way to build a base it's Tree Cove
    All the resources you need are there, Just build a Thermal Plant in the side and you're good to go
    Just make sure you bring some normal kelp, blood kelp and acid mushroom seeds (So you can farm them) along with Prawn Suit and Drill Arms (Since most of the ores can only be mined with Drill Arms) and you pretty much have everything you have
    It's also the safest way to charge your cyclops with the Thermal upgrade without anything attacking it
    Seriously, This biome is the safest way and most efficient way to build and gather resources, You don't even die on the brine and the inactive lava zone is just right infront of you if you are looking for Kyanite/Sulfuric Acid

      I'm replaying Subnautica and on my previous game I had a secondary base near the tree cove with a bioreactor and a farm with plants to power it. Later on I added a nuclear reactor and had energy for the rest of the playthrough.

      Completely agree with this.
      On an end game note, once you have activated the teleporters there is a teleporter location pretty close to this which is easy to navigate in the situation that you need outside resources (or need to visit surface locations for other resources).

    • @brianbommarito3376
      @brianbommarito3376 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree, it’s the best building in there. But, as far as the lore goes, it probably wouldn’t be so great, because if the Ghost Leviathan egg hatched, your base would probably end up something like the last Degasi base. (Fortunately, it never hatches in game, so it’s quite safe). And it’s only easy access to two other biomes and no easy access to the surface. (You’ll have to get past a leviathan each to get to the two nearest teleporters). Bring lots of exploitable plants from other biomes for farming, because it won’t be all that practical to go foraging for more.

    • @chadnorris8257
      @chadnorris8257 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually build one there, not only because it's safe, but because it's kind of the last stop before it gets too deep for the Seamoth. Actually the floor of the cave is already too deep for the Seamoth, and my moonpool tends to be elevated halfway up the cave with the base being lower down.

    1:45 You can heal your infected fish in the aquarium - catch a Hero Peeper (the ones carrying the enzyme) and put it in your containment. That will heal the infected individuals in your tank.
    Here are my Top 6 favorite locations:
    1) Giant Cove Tree cave. This shouldn't surprise anyone - it is just a beautiful location and has a lot to offer as well like lots of nearby ressources, thermal vents for lots of energy production and just a nice soothing ambience. It is also the safest entrance to the Lava Zone - the other entrance might be easier to reach but is also a lot more dangerous: the upper end is patrolled by a Ghost and the lower end is patrolled by a Sea Dragon.
    2) The South-western Grassy plateau close to the drop to the Sparse Reef. Lots of space and I just like the view into the vast green waters of the Sparse Reef. When building here I usually end up with a huge base just to cover all the beautiful views surrounding it.
    3) The westernmost tip of the Save Shallows. To the west you have a good view over the Dunes, down below you can look upon the Mushroom Forest and there's also a Kelp Forest nearby - just a lot of variety and gorgeous views all around.
    4) The mountaintop in the middle of the Mountains biome. There is no better place to build a Reaper observation base - the Mountaintop has the patrol routes of three different Reapers in sight. It can be a little bit dangerous to build the base because the easternmost of these Reapers occasionally comes very close to the top of the mountain, however it is totally worth it.
    5) The thermal vent at the deeper wreck in the Grand Reef southwest of the Floating Island. Thermal energy, Sea Treaders nearby for ressources and it is easy to expand the base a bit so that you can build an observatory to watch the adult Ghost Leviathan that patrolls the area. It also offers easy access to the Lost River through the Deep Grand Reef.
    6) This one might surprise a lot of people but I like the area for some reason: The western Crush Zone Mesa. A Reaper is patrolling the area, oftentimes diving deep to attack the Stalkers and occasional Bone Shark (the area is close to the border to the Crag Fields and sometimes move into the Crash Zone) and then darting back up to the top of the Mesa. There are also some Gasopods and I had the really funny experience to see the Reaper attacking a Gasopod and then dying in the poison cloud - that was hilarious. The area also offers a surprising amount of ressources and plenty of space, the view is not the most gorgeous though.

Also, the lifepod 12 is located next to a heat area.

    Subnautica is one my 2 best games of all time (the second being Batman Arkham Knight). My favorite base location is, of course, the Giant Cove Tree. The music, the colors and the environment are all perfect there (I usually play survival). But I usually build my second base in Safe Shallows. I like a base that is close to the surface. Sunlight makes the environment look stunning. And the developers made a great day/night cycle. This adds to the impression of a base in Safe Shallows.

    • @furiousapplesack
      @furiousapplesack ปีที่แล้ว

      One of my favorite things about Below Zero was the weather effects, especially the rain penetrating the ocean surface. When you build the large room near the surface like you're saying, you can look up through the glass and see this beautiful display during the rainfall. And in general with both games, I love putting a bedroom at exactly the halfway point between surface and ocean. When you look out the glass, you can see everything below and above the water. It's a little difficult to measure out perfectly, so you kind of have to wrap the entire base around that concept to get the height just so but it's worth it.

    My favorite place is on top of the large arch that sits about 150m down near the Quarantine Enforcement platform, where the kelp forests, mushroom forest, bulb zone, and mountains regions intersect. That's my surface base, and then my deep dive base is in the Tree Cove. Good variety of resources, power options, and view, and your own personal Leviathan just far enough away to observe from time to time without risking his wrath. I named him Bob.

    Bonus points for the Mushroom forest: the only Leviathans that Spawn are Reefbacks, and in the particular Mushroom forest you showed (where I built my first base) I only ever encountered Jelly Rays, despite there being Boneshark eggs.
    Making it potentially a perfectly safe biome to build in. Plus the Bulb Zone isn't too far away, so you can build thermal plants on the thermal vents there and link them to your base, and you also have relatively easy access to the lost river due to there being an entrance on the edge of the bulb zone. AND that Lost River entrance also connects to the Inactive Lava Zone.

    I personally built my main base in the grassy plateaus but when I realized I was going to spend most of my time in the lost river (it was late game) I knew I had to figure something out. Cove tree is my favorite base location, too. I built a base at the higher entrance, so it had one moonpool above 900m for the seamoth, then vertical connectors going down to the floor for the rest of the base. It's at the depth threshold for some vehicles/upgrade levels, it's beautiful, with special music, it's safe in a dangerous area, it's near a path to the lava zone, it's in a nice central spot for a scanner room with range upgrades to get good coverage, and there's geothermal for power.
    In the lost river, instead of the gargantuan fossil, I went by the sea dragon skeleton, since there's a small brine "waterfall" there.
    In one save where I did a no vehicle challenge, I had a Grassy Plateau base that actually extended down into the Jellyshroom cave right by the abandoned base, to get air.
    Grand reef, I also like a vertical base going down to the lost river entrance.
    Mushroom forest, my most recent base was on the cliffs at the border with the Kelp Forest, because I like it sitting on cliffs, and it gives views from several depths. It's also close to one of the hidden alien arches, so once I got that activated, finishing the last steps of the main quest didn't require piloting a sub all the way across the map, just hopping through portals in the Prawn suit. I frequently build at least small bases in the Mushroom forest to scan for lithium and cyclops fragments.
    I've also done a vertical base in one of the Blood Kelp trenches, with the top in an area of empty sand, and the bottom in the dark trench. Nice creepy atmosphere, and close to a reaper for some extra fear. One of very few times I've used bioreactor power.

    So many playthroughs, so many bases. My top 5 are probably;
    5. A crater that I found that has a cave leading to an alien outpost. Not sure which biome, but I think it's in the Sandy Dunes. I called it Reaper base because a Reaper swims above and occasionally swims down.
    4. The entrance to the Lost River that is close to the Floating Islands.
    3. The Mushroom Forest near the Aurora.
    2. The edge of the Void, building downward along the cliff face.
    1. A promontory that is situated really close to the Floating Islands, a Mushroom Forest, a Red Grass area, and is above the entrance to the Lost River.
    I like the area near the blue tree, but I build there in every playthrough and it has become a little boring.

    I made a base in the Grassy Plateau in my latest playthrough, using large rooms. It was the one with Lifepod 17 in it, on top of two jutting rock formations. Two large rooms sitting across from each other, with a moonpool in between them. I had growbeds on a plateau next to the base, and a scanner facility on another plateau near that.
    It's definitely a nice place to be, with basic resources above ground, while magnetite and shale outcrops are in the Jellyshroom caves. It also borders a bloodkelp biome that leads into the Lost river, so it's a smooth transition downward towards the end of the game.
    I've built bases in different biomes, and enjoyed them, but this might be my top spot for convenient linear progression. I do still like my beach home in the mountain, though.

    Only thing that makes me feel just a bit sad about treecove despite it being absolutely stunning location is the fact that it's bit hard to build a moonpool there that doesn't look weird and that isn't floating above everything else and without supports. Well that is only the case with if you are building the moonpool specifically for Seamoth as you have to be super mindful of the crush depth as it is just on the edge of the 900meters which is deepest you can go with Seamoth. The way my moonpool worked in my past base was that every time I exited the moonpool with seamoth I would cross 900meters for a few secs until ascending to safe depth. It's a shame it is just on the edge of the crush depth lol

    • @guitarman0365
      @guitarman0365 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was able to make mine above the depth enough so that when you get shot downwards in the seamoth you don't hit the crush limit even for a few seconds. But yes it looks weird as it's attached by vertical tubing with a ladder and that's it. However it's extremely nice being able to just dive down into the water and swim to the main entrance or swim up rather than walking through the base and even using the ladder. There is benefits of having a freakishly high moon pool but esthetics is the downside.

    I love this game. I got it when it was free on PS4. The ONLY game I've got a Platinum Award on.
    I have *Base 1* behind the Aurora in the Grassy Plateau near Wreck 15. It's powered by the thermal vent there which is nice.
    From there I go to the Grand Reef where I have my *Main Base* powered by the thermal vents there (it's about 400meters away from the Degassi Base, with a Warper and a Crabsquid between us) it's my main base cause I've been collecting and hatching Crabsquid. From what I've seen, they will attack EVERYTHING except a Ghost Leviathan!
    I have *Base 3* around the floating islands but I haven't been back there since it was built (I put the Nuclear Reactor in the Grand Reef base) and today I built a load of lockers ect on the Cyclops just so I can move all of the materials and build a new Base around the Ghost Tree.
    Tip..put search lights on the glass roof (on the thick line through the middle)
    Hatch a load of Crabsquid, they protect you* and attack EVERYTHING except a Ghost Leviathan... I've released 8 near Wreck 15 and the Biters and the Sand/Bone sharks around the area are all gone..they respawn but end belly up very quickly
    *If you're being attacked, flash your lights at them to get their attention they come towards you and then ZOOM towards the threat. They WILL attack your Cyclops though

    Aside from the base in the Grassy Plateaus, I find the locations rather spooky, especially among the skeletons in the Lost River. I can still make friends with the Tree, but I wouldn't really feel comfortable there either. Of course, I'm only talking about bases primarily for "living"; I would indeed build purely functional bases wherever it makes sense, also next to a skeleton, if it has to be, but preferably not. 😂😘 Great video nonetheless!

    I lean towards the Sunbeam crash site. It is the darkest place in the game. So I see it as a challenge to bring light to the most forsaken location on the map.
    What is nice is the near endless supply uranium inside the caves to fuel the nuclear reactors, which in turn power the vast array of lights to brighten even the most black of areas.
    The only threats are the two warpers that patrol the zone, and the annoying reaper that won't shut up!

      My favorite place to build is in the Kelp forest. A lot of green plants swaying in the water and if you build shallow enough a lot of light also. The only problem is is that there aren't a lot of locations where it's possible to fit the large room into. It's a more suitable location for the multipurpose room.
