Fun fact, the old HGUC Gaplant has a massive booster to attach to in MA mode that is larger than the kit is tall. Not only that, but the older Hrairoo also has extra gimmicks in the shoulders and is also compatible with the aforementioned booster, meaning not only do those kits come with a lot more in the Box, but since they're standard release you have a way better chance of getting them instead of paying for the ridiculous price for this AOZ version.
but I do think that some of those minor upgrades between this and the old one are actually quality of life improvements to it, he doesn't quite point it out, but you do get the different variant heads in this kit too. this kit comes with the hrairoo head, this new long chin head, and the regular gaplant head, and it also comes with the original hrairoo parts. and you do get the new and better bandai plastic quality compared to the old one too
I think mecha didn't show them here, but u do get those parts from the hrairoo in dark blue, since it's remold and I saw images from schizophonic09 blog. There are some new parts like the face plate and shoulder parts, but that's bout it
I've built the 4 kits (Gaplant, Hrairoo, Hrairoo (Titans), and Hrairoo Gigantic Arm) in the last year and a half. I'd say the Gaplant Hrairoo (Titans) kit is probably best of the bunch for the shoulder color separation, alone. Could it have been better? Sure... but think about AoZ color separation, in general - the AoZ kits *NEED* a ton of detail paint to really make them shine. This is basically an unspoken expectation, at this point. Notes about each kit: 1. Gaplant - old as dirt... the giant booster was slick when it was released, but AoZ addon kits have made it less unique, since. 2. Hrairoo - cool Hrududu II shoulder gimmicks but loses the giant booster... again, cool at the time, but AoZ kits have recycled these Hrududu II parts a dozen times over. 3. Hrairoo (Titans) - the best upgrade since the original due to the modern shoulder color separation. Makes sense that this is P-Bandai, but would have been better to make an all-in-one P-Bandai kit with the booster, Hrududu II parts, new shoulders, and Gigantic Arm kit. However, that would break one underlying detail of all AoZ kit release - there is *ALWAYS* a white kit and a blue kit so combined, you can mix-match the combat deployment colors and prototype/testing colors. Which brings us to... 4. Hrairoo Gigantic Arms - it's the white version of #3 with a recycled Gigantic Arm kit. While cool in theory, I'm not a fan of kits that need supplementary Action Bases just to stand upright (most Gaplant models benefit from a stand, but only the Gigantic Arm kit *needs* it). The TR-1 Gigantic Arm kit had the same issue. Shoulders in this kit are the new version as included with #3 but you can't really see them, when assembled. I'd personally give the Hrairoo (Titans) a 2-star rating, but just barely. One dumb feature of the 3/4 kits is that the elbows that attach the wing binder actually has an improved part that plugs up an unsightly gap, but it only works when you DON'T have the wing binders attached... so the parts remain unused on the #3 kit.
The preview images told us exactly what this kit was way before it even came out. All this kit is a 1.5 HG, just like they did with the Rick Diaz, with the bonus of having the gundam face, which is really all I wanted for the Gaplant Hrairoo.
Just like the majority of AOZ mobile suits, this was named after a character from the book Watership Down. Hrairoo is the lapine name for the character Fiver, meaning "Little Thousand.”
Me to i love the Gapant i dont think it needs a revive tis so good and is fully transformable no parts separation needed but if they could top it i am Curios
Looks like you have the entire original Hrairoo in Titans' colors, you could build the Hrududu unit and attach the armor. But you still have left over pieces, like the large engines and the wings, which would be part of the booster unit - but apparently that was too much for this kit. Also, if you build the shoulders without the peg holes on the top (that's where the Hrududu would attach), you can actually transform it without even taking the arms off, the joint you removed here folds into the shoulder perfectly.
@0Defensor0 You are absolutely right. You have all the parts to build the Hrududu parts that came with the original. I have the new kit and build the parts to make a Titans version of the new Gaplant Hrairoo.
I adore the Gaplant myself and love using it in GBO2. I was gifted a Gaplant kit and despite it's inarticulate nature it's still a centerpiece of my shelf. Kind of like the HG Gogg if you modify joints you can get rather articulate poses out of it but otherwise is a rather lovely brick 😆
the original Titans Hrairoo Gaplant was one of the earlier kits i got when i got into the hobby a few years ago, and while it is (and was) a frustrating piece of plastic to handle (looking at you, Long Blade rifle and stand attachment), its still one of my most asthetically pleasing looking designs (especally the chonked up MA mode with the attached rifle and shoulder binders) and i'm really annoyed that they didn't make a full remake like they did with the Barzam. The Big Arms version still seems to be aviable at some vendors for me, i'm really debating picking that one up, but man. Really wish the Core Kit would not be that same one.
There are some good clones of the gigantic arms(just the arms) floating around AliExpress at about a $20 USD price point. Fairly comparable to the originals aside from lacking the seam hiding details on the wrist and being real floppy if you don't tighten the joints.
I've found that removing the back part of the long blade rifle makes it MUCH easier to hold the gun. It may LOOK incomplete, but it's a fair trade in my opinion.
It's tolerable since it still uses outdated technology.. But the last bronze before this... plutine gundam (barely touching silver tier from this ranking)... sad that it didn't meet the expectation among reviewers
Old HG with big feet has one problem is that it can get loose pretty quickly just remember to tighten up the ankle joint so it can stand without problems if you don't have any stand to use around

It looks like kitbash fodder
I really hate that advance if zeta kits are actually kind bad kits that are exclusively P Bandai, cause the advance of Zeta gundams are some of my favourites design wise, they look like robots that could exist while still having that 80s aesthetic from Zeta.
I'd be totally ok with them being old kits if they didn't have the premium price 😩

I saw a third party made an MG of the "gaplant" and it actually looks good. Still waiting for bandai to make HG of the MAs from AOZ.
