I’ve been following you guys for a while, I can’t believe you found my hood, it’s very unknown because it’s one the few neighborhoods that’s strictly residential, no businesses allowed. Thanks for the video, it definitely made my day. Been living in this hill since my great grandparents. Truly blessed ✝️🇻🇦 Let me correct you real quick, the siervas de Maria is convent, been here longer than me. The big house embassy, that’s the house of the ambassador, it’s been here since forever too. It’s never been the embassy but the residence to the ambassador 👌 Careful with the last one, Bella vista gardens, that’s gonna be right on via espana so not really in La Cresta
Thanks for the specifics Juan. Appreciate the input. On google maps, it says the embassy so I assumed it was the old one, not the residence of the ambassador. NICE house for them huh? As for mentioning Belle Vista. That'll be our next video for another area in Panama City. We actually have lived in Belle Vista a bunch of times and love it there. A little bit of everything. Residential, stores, restaurants, big park. Like it a lot.
@@laptopseniors Yes bella vista is nice too, you definitely need something with an engine if you’re going to be living in La Cresta, it’s the steepest neighborhood in the City. There’re stories about it like Captain Morgan used it to scope out the city and plan his attack, the previous name was buccaneers’ hill.
Great video. There are videos in Spanish about this area. FYI lots of American Families lived in this area when the US military was stationed in Panama
My wife, oldest daughter, and myself lived in the house next door to the left of the house at 1:21 in three rooms in 1969 while I was stationed in Panama.
You should have seen Bella Vista before they tore a lot of the older buildings and houses down to make newer ones. The area's traditional architecture has its own name, Arquitectura Bellavistina.
Unfortunately not yet because we've never been to Costa Rica. For what it's worth, our main brush with Costa Rica has been when living in Uruguay. We met so many expats who had tried Costa Rica and left due to the crime. Not dangerous, but petty theft and break-ins when they were out. So they left. No maybe that's been stopped or not an issue anymore. But 10 years ago it was enough to drive many people out of the country.
I really appreciate your videos. La Cresta was a beautiful neighbourhood and yes old money owned La Cresta. One of my favourite neighbourhood in Panama City. The name is Via España, not only España 🤪🪷💜🙏🏽
I knew someone would ask. No... I was in radio for decades and they gave those to me for taking a chance on those songs or artists before anyone else knew who they were, and before they became successful stars. Kind of payback I guess. But hey, they look nice on a wall.
La Cresta was never a popular place to live for the simple reason that it has just two streets (narrow) to enter and exit the area, and both are located by Via España. For a strange reasons no streets were build on the North or Eastern side of the compound. Beside, no commercial stablishments ever opened in the area.
Hello Lovely Couple. I have watched many of your videos and subscribed. My 2 friends and I are visiting Sept 25 - Oct 1. I'm hoping to meet up with expats who are enjoying life in Panama City. Do you two meet up or simply provide videos via TH-cam?
What would the CIA be doing in that area? Panama is no threat to the empire.... Panama City would be very appealing to me if it weren't for the heat and humidity.....
Keep up the tours, love it for the information until I get to Panama. Thanks.
More to come! Glad to hear it! 😊 thanks for watching and subscribing 👍🏻

Wow, imagine that! Thanks for your comment. 😊
Enjoy your travels! My next trip will be in 2025. 😊
Hi Juanita. Have a great trip. 😁 Thanks for following us .

That’s cool. Thanks for following us . 😃
Love your videos. Have you ever done a video comparing Costa Rica with Panama? Thanks.

I am interested in knowing about your records in the background, were you a recording artist?
I knew someone would ask. No... I was in radio for decades and they gave those to me for taking a chance on those songs or artists before anyone else knew who they were, and before they became successful stars. Kind of payback I guess. But hey, they look nice on a wall.

Ya we kept seeing it in our view and had to get a closer look. 😊 Thanks for watching 😊
the Siervas de Maria building is a nunnery….
Oh! Thanks Anita. 😁

We would meet up but during that period we'll be in Florida, then Mexico. Perhaps a different time will work when we're back in Panama.
Historically, it’s been a “bedroom” community.
Yes, very much so.
Is Cangrejo similar to Escazú in San José? Or Gazcue in Santo Domingo?
@@dovygoodguy1296Escazu would be like Panama Pacifico in the former Howard Air Force Base. Very nice neighborhood. Another hidden gem.
@@dovygoodguy1296 So sorry. We've never been to those other places yet.
@@guillermogouldburn763 Thanks.
Most are way too expensive for me... but really I would like to see things for rent in the area.... It would be better to rent first.
I totally agree! Hi Annie. 😊 we sure appreciate you sticking with us 👍🏻

It was sort of a joke knowing that it was once the embassy. But it was really weird how adamant they were to not take pics or even get near the fence.
