When I play Bull Run, I send three elite brigades with the best rifles to Brawners Farm, bolstered by two big brigades of green troops. The two brigades with the best rifles ambush the extra Union brigade that marches in from the West and capture it while the rest engage the main Union force from the woods. Then I let those two brigades rest for a bit before using them in a counter-attack to sweep the Union troops away with heavy losses. In my best run, I completely destroyed the Union forces at Brawners Farm - an entire Union division, for less than 1,000 casualties. It made the ensuing battle a lot easier, and it was simple to a) hold out and b) encircle the entire Union army on the last day of the battle and obliterate it.
Welcome back! Video driver issues are a pain in the .... I had to reinstall windows on my gaming laptop last spring and it took weeks to get everything back going again. I think I may have bled them before withdrawing. I do that in my Russian front games as the Soviets. Bleed, withdraw, bleed, withdraw. Great job holding the line!
Would you please explain the advantage of pulling back your entire initial force into the woods? Much of the defensive breastworks face completely empty field where the Union has no cover. Confederate artillery can be concealed in the woods rather than behind them, and if needed can even be partially concealed in the wheat fields directly behind the breastworks - ideal for cannister fire. What's your train of thought that I'm not seeing?
When you put your brigades in a defensive line their effectiveness would demenish, ( they won't fire in volleys, they won't be protected as much as trees would) also they would be extremely vulnerable to charges wich the AI does alot, and in this particular battle pope clumped all his brigades on the right side. I apologize for my english as it isn't my first language, ihope you understand
I use this same strategy but left skirmishers at the railroad than pull them back to the second line. It's better because they take longer to get to the objective
During a battle when a notification shows up in the top left hand corner you can click on it and it will take you the location it's talking about. (e.g. Reinforcements have arrived).

Was wondering the same for the whole video.

Love the commentary
Well done glad you figured out that you can rebuild units in a two day battle
That must be from a recent update, used to be you could only replace leaders and supply in between days.

To make some more money you can sell wepoms that you will not loose. You can use that money to buy supplies or the wepons you need.
If you're going to stick with a face cam, can you try wearing a war hat? I always find war hats improve performance enormously.
+James Beil I like the way you think
I have a confederate kepi hat somewhere, might have to find it for the next one!
Consider growing out your beard. All the best confederate generals had beards.
Lee? Beard.
Longstreet? Beard.
Jackson? Beard.
Bragg? Never mind.
+James Beil I would if I.could. sadly, I cannot grow a solid, general worthy beard.
@@awordabout...3061 Bragg? Eyebrows
Can you use the 500 man units for this battle to prevent scaling?
Bravo pour avoir tenu le drapeau avec si peu d'hommes
