I adore this figure so much, enough to make a stop motion. It is weird seeing a black Optimus repaint that's still Optimus (not like Nemesis or Scourge).
Dead Optimus Prime is another one that has a black color scheme although I think the only one we've gotten was a recolor of the Transformers Earth rise Optimus Prime figure

My favorite detail in this guy is the cab interior, if you look inside where the truck cab is there's a small radio, steering wheel and a glove box! And underneath his head plate you can see the seats so it's almost the full interior! It's something small but it's amazing nonetheless

Best quality voyager figure of all time. Showed what hasbro can do when they dont try ro cut back for more profit. Amazing.
The red/blue one is way better. He really is.
Also , if you turn the hand 90 degrees and insert the sword or gun. It looks like it dows in the show instead of him holding them weirdly
I'm sure that's the way they intended for the figure to hold the weapons. The slants on the back of the weapons line up perfectly with the angle on the outside of the forearm.
I think this model has the best transformation of all time. It's so elegant and clever.
The APC is very similar to First Edition Prime you have, from what I've seen.
The only differences is you get two heads (one with mouth guard and one without) dual blasters and dual battle blades, plus Skybreaker (however Red Optimus has black coloured blasters)
And the quality is better. No soft smokestacks, no floppy legs, no easily unpegged shoulders and shin.
The Prime toys didnt exactly have spectacular availability here in Australia anyway TBH, I dont think the first edition ones were released here at all? I certainly never saw them, anyway
I had this one for a while. It's an awesome figure. The deco is so nice and the transformation is superb, with the figure looking great in both modes. The first edition figures for TFP were so good. And you're right that the sword is the only thing that sucks.
From what I read, these colors on Prime Optimus Prime is supposed to represent Prime utilizing armor that protects him from cyberbiohazards... whatever a cyberbiohazard is.

First edition optimus and ROTF leader and voyager optimus were like the first figures I remember that showed that hasbro could make extremely accurate figures if they wanted to

Was SUPER lucky to nab this one back in the day for about $60 ish, and it's still a prized trophy of mine.
Omg I was getting some chills just seeing the shots with the Optimus figure and megatron figure in the poses when they were working together

I got the Japanese colored APC one cause I liked that it came with the star saber and a pair of swords and a pair of guns for a decent price. It’s hands down one of my favorite transformers that I ever owned. Just everything about it is great. I wish I could get this version cause it looks pretty amazing, but I don’t have 90 dollars to shell out on one voyager. Great review as always

I grew up with G1 and prime, having almost the entire autobot cast, and the RID Version of TFP Optimus was the one I had, absolutely love it for sentimental reasons, but I’ve seen first edition ones go for $200+ CAD and it makes me cry 😭 such a much more beautiful portrayal of my favourite Optimus Prime Design. One Day.. I’ll have it
I love the toys that I mean… you can see their truck kibble and that, but their sleek and so much transformed that they’ve changed shape completely and you can hardly tell their the same thing after transformation
Not like G1 designs where it is more obviously a vehicle that just had it’s back end flip down and twist around and split to form legs.
The best Prime I own as well...the black and old gold is the icing on the cake
If there was one TFP figure I really wanted it'll definitely be First Edition Optimus Prime.
I have this mold for Prime and Ultra Magnus, and I absolutely love those two. Very good figure, and very good review, I wish there were more 3rd party add-ons for these figures.
He does hold the gun sideways in the show I can remember it was my favorite show
After G1 i think this is the best Prime design. I recommend picking up the APC figure since it's upscaled, two heads and two blasters and swords (though the swords are still on the wrong side)
That Dark of the moon model with the stars on it, i had that EXACT same one when i was a kid, got dam i miss that transformer so baaaad.

I remember when i had the original one (the original red and blue transformers prime optimus) and it was by far one of my favourite transformer toys
Just thought I'd mention that you can actually do show accurate guns with this gun, rotate the hands inwards by 90 degrees and peg the guns into the underside of the hands, I think they intended it as the cannons perfectly line up against the forarms
Port the gun through the bottom of Prime’s hand and it’ll fit seamlessly in that sideways/show accurate orientation
I think the reason I like this channel more than other action figure channels is just how positive you are about most figures
i have the original first edition optimus prime, i bought it at universal studios singapore, and i'm so glad i had this figure because it has been my definitive modern optimus prime (better than bayverse if imo), but things have broken off, like the headlights on his faux chest and i lost both smokestacks, also i was stupid to scratch his eye back then cuz i have this figure for 9 years.
I’ve just picked up the apc toys version and I absolutely love it. TFP is my favourite version of prime so very happy to have him
Still have my optimus prime first edition from back 2013, it got loose over time and the pipes got kinda filthy, but still is a beautiful toy to look at

I used to have the original bulkhead, shockwave, beast hunters optimus, and knock out from the prime toy line
www i love tfp its such a good toy and to see a great figure like that for tfp thats making me happy
man i really wish hasbro would do more reissues for prime toys, especially with how theyre handling legacy. its my favourite tf media and i wasnt able to afford barely any of the figures back then besides cyberverse, and now theyre so damn expensive. at this point i dont even want them to redo the figures with modern technology, these first editions still hold up and id gladly take them! if we can get reissues for g1 and beast wars figures, i say we should do that same thing with other continuities like prime, animated and maybe unicron trilogy.

Damn man I had a very similar experience with Prime. It was the first transformers series (besides animated) that I grew up with as it naturally progressed, and I remember checking my target for new releases after new episodes, watching reviews of figures so I would know which ones I wanted and I had sooo many almost every NA rid release just because i was around the age to do that with this show I wish I could’ve got more first edition only ever got terror-con cliff jumper

Long ago I cut away part of the plastic at the ankle huge to give better ankle articulation so it would not pop the leg off. When you open up the leg panel and look at the screw you’ll see a thicker portion towards the inside of the leg. You don’t have to do it if you don’t like modifying your toys and that’s OK but for me it made a huge difference.
I remember seeing your video about PotP Optimus and when I saw one I knew I had to pick it up. I think the same thing might happen with this guy, he looks sooooo goood

I own the apc Optimus and it absolutely is the same as the official Optimus. As far as I know it even fixed the slight bow leggedness

A place local to me has both that one and the Dark Guard decos. I'm really tempted by the clear colors because they look amazing, but I'm hesitant because of clear plastic's reputation.
i've had 2 experiences with the apc version of this figure one is the 1-1 paint (where its got the same paint and look as the original toy) and the second is cartoon accurate paint(where its made to look like it just jumped out of the cartoon) and both are amazing they did an amazing job with it just wish they sneakily included some silver lifted faction repro labels

Put the gun and sword underslung and swivel it to the side. One of the most satisfying discovery i made with a toy
Hands down my best prime and possibly best official figure, APS-01u. It’s the rotf leader mold and kind of an amalgamation of every version, its got the jetwing with different colours, bright colours from the striker variant, some darker tones from the da-28 version, all of the accessories like knuckles guns swords and hooks. It’s a pretty dope package that even came with a little die cast allspark cube

You can in fact turn his hands facing up or down (I believe down is better) and insert the handle to the outside of the hand. It'll fit like a puzzle piece.
Studio series prime is actually a heavy retool of this guy!
It's not. It reuses engineering but isn't a retool.
I have this mold, but I played with it so much I wore out the hip joints, so it just kinda sits there now

I'm sure you've seen comments like this but if you rotate the hand 90 degrees you can have him hold his guns show accurate. It pegs backhandedly pretty much.

This figure was doing ankle tilts before it was cool.
I will say tfp was my show back then and it still is has just got the DVDs for it but just like you I was never able to get most of the toys I had gotten a s3 camo prime with shoulder gun gimmick but one day I do want to make my own collection of prime toys.
Side note, I noticed you were mentioning the show accuracy way of holding the gun. You can turn his hand inwards, then slide the gun in from the other side (the bottom of his hand) to give him his show accurate way of holding his gun!
You can have the gun placed properly if you rotate the hand so that you plug the gun into the back of the hand
I wouldn't even think that's a transformer if I seen it in truck mode on a shelf

I own both an official Hasbro and a apc version of this mold the apc j p has replaced all rubber with harder plastics making the smokestacks and swords better, the apc also tried switching up some of the locking elemne tee s with middling results such as trying to change the roof foot connection in vehicle mode. If anyone is looking for this mold I'd say the apc works excellently sss an alternative with great plastic, joint tolerances and even better accessories than the original so pick you favourite deco and get one of these great figures official or apc
For the gun just twist the top of the hand inward and peg the gun at the back of the hand and there u go
bought the APC 4th party Prime and it's just as good if not even better

I was browsing around the internet to find a transformer figure, and I found this: a live action (evasion mode), called "Ayoi Mech H6003-6 Energy Heart" it looks cool
I have the first APC release, it’s very, very nice, but I understand if you want to stick to the official releases haha
OOH EDIT: You can actually turn the hands *inwards* to have him hold the guns outwards, like in the show. That’s how I’ve always done it.
The changes between the apc (1.0 not 2.0 aka the metalic version) are that he's the original deco, comes with 2 guns and 2 swords (that are NOT made out of rubber) instead of one each, he comes with the starsaber (with the thing to atatch it on his back) and an unmasked head so that's it...
easy to miss out but he has an interior, the wheel, radio etc are in here in the truck mode

APC Megatron, is elite bro, and you should get the APC Prime because they are just good, I own a FE Prime and i enjoy too much to fiddle with it which is why I got the APC
The best design of Optimus for me was the RotF prime leader class. It just clicks for some reason. Second was the TLK challenger prime which is a third party one becuase it's movie accurate.
If it works if you can twist the rest inward and plug the gun into the bottom of the hand if you couldn't understand that
