Something I noticed watching this video- Legacy bulkhead isn't ONLY based on prime- it's seemingly also based (heavily) on his animated design, especially in the chest and the vehicle mode. My bet on why they said "Prime Universe" is bc of the fact that they KNEW they were doing the animated figures, but wanted them to be a surprise... So that if you wanted to, you could have a g1 stylized Prime team as well as an animated team since bulkhead features in both. I do hope they give us Animated and Prime Optimus prime and that they finish off both teams-
It gets tiring when everything is either kids toys or g1 tho(studio series is atleast picking up some of the slack), constant g1 after g1 is boring. Most of us want actual rereleases or updates to these characters
I don't think this is APC, I think it's a separate company, using a similar name. APC still updates their ShowZ page (Cliffjumper comes out soon : D) and the version of this I got (Arms Iron) feels a LOT different than all the previous APC versions. All their figures I've handled are made of really solid plastic (except Arachnid, she feels like a cheap pair of sunglasses) and this one doesn't feel like it. I also remember seeing that APC delayed their bulkhead to work on Arachnid.
If the legacy took the whole cab and bent it down for a belly or bent the windshield and grill/headlights outward, then put the doors on top for the chest, I think that would’ve been the perfect bulkhead that fuses all versions of him into one
The thing with Legacy Bulkhead is that you have to take it as 'What if Bulkhead had been in G1'. If you take it like that, it's actually a very solid Bulkhead.
Fun fact: Originally bulkhead was gonna be ironhide in prime, but was changed to bulkhead after the movie ironhide was planned to be killed off in Dotm.(Dark of the Moon)
The first edition Bulkhead is probably my favorite figure from the prime series. One thing that I noticed that was different on this KO (we besides the almost chromed green and plastic colors) was those leg ratchets. The original I am like 90% sure was just friction. So they added those but didn't calibrate them right. Idk if it's possible to disassemble the hip on this KO mold, but if so you could tighten the ratchet and make him more stable than the original version
Definitely getting this 3rd party Bulkhead. I bought the APC Angel Engine (Prime Arcee) and I was legit shocked at how gorgeous the figure looks. I stared at it in awe for way too long 😂
I was surprised by my friend today who gifted me an APC Bulkhead, and man I am surprised by the quality. If you told me it was the regular 1st addition, I would believe it.
I love how all of us have the same question about APC/AC been the same company. I hope they are not, but with what just happened with Cliffjumper, I don't know anymore. I think the first version of this guy is more accurate in color, this metallic repaint is just too dark to be accurate. I just ordered him (with the other 2 versions of Cliffjumper) just to run an experiment on him: I'll leave him at the sun just to see if the color lightens off. If that doesn't work, I'll just repaint him with the colors that he has in the RID 2014 show so he can be part of my RID collection (I'm doing the same with Soundwave). The other reason why I'm buying this second version is because of the handle on the hammer. I don't like the Hammer idea but the handle is very accurate to the one on the show. I started collecting APC figures because my original plan was just to make a custom fully transformable First Edition Ultra Magnus and that's it (of course, I was not successfull). So, now I'm doing a couple of Beast Hunters Ultra Magnus customs and there is a 3D version of the Forge of Solus Prime (not very accurate in the handle) on A L I E X P R E S S and when I combine the pieces from both, they look great. I got 2 hammers, so I need 2 handles for my 2 planned custom Ultra Magnus. Oh, and also, I want another wrecking ball (What the hell AC? Why just one?). And about the RID mold, the legs are more accurate. That's another advantage from the first version: the green plastic on this guy and the RID mold are almost identical (RID is extra shinny) and I combined both figures. With the RID legs, he looks even better and he is shorter so he looks better next to Breakdown.
The helicopter bulkhead is the first to get the name but it's another case where Hasbro couldn't get Springer as a name. If not for this, they wouldn't have made the throw away name "Bulkhead"

Yo! That toy guy! Just went to a Walmart in Kanata and I found a legacy evo skyquake! and dragon megs! I suggest you check your Walmarts a little more often
I can’t understand why people seem to like the Legacy figure in the first place. It’s an entirely different bot with Prime Bulkhead’s head slapped on top of it. Looks absolutely nothing like his actual design in the show besides being a green armored truck
The only prime figure that outclassed its first edition counterpart was vehicon. The first edition was clumsy in form and function. The prime one was genius in its simplicity.
What I think happened with the first edition to the RID toys is a result from the complaints from the complex transformation from ROTF assuming they were design before the change
So this got a lot of discussion when it first game out, but we pretty definitively know at this point that AC Toys _IS NOT_ APC Toys. They're another company who I guess got fed up with APC continuously delaying their Bulkhead KO, and saw an opportunity to beat them to the punch. AC has also now released an FE Cliffjumper right before APC is going to release theirs, and apparently its sufferent from horrific QC issues because they rushed it out to beat APC. They're definitely not the same people. As for APC's Rampage, it was kind of an outlier in quality, APC has a few earlier releases that are much better. Its also really not _that_ early, its like at the mid point between their first release and today. The only other release they've done that's notably bad was their first Arcee deco, which suffered from extreme amounts of paint chipping
Based on my experience with three different APC figures vs what I'm seeing here, I'm quite convinced they're different companies. All three of my APC have great joints and color consistency. They also both have a Cliffjumper coming out with different paint, accessories, pricing, and I believe tooling. Seems like quite a hoop to jump through (and a bad business strategy) for a 3rd party company to compete with itself by simultaneously doing two production runs of different versions of the same character
also know as APC "Arms Iron" only thing I'd recommend you place in your videos dude alt names, that the knock offs go by lol. don't know if its the lighting your using, but mine is a lighter shade of green? more show accurate (or mine is one of the really old 1s and faded lol) all in all great video thanks for the upload.
You mentioned in a previous video that you have quillfire, and during the vehicle mode comparisons I half-expected you to bring it out because quillfire and bulkhead share an alt mode, it's like the same cgi model they've just retextured for R.i.D
really surprised that the round bot forms into that car. i was expecting a round and smooth cybertron altmode, not one that looks like it comes from earth
The first edition toys WERE meant to be the main line toys for transformers prime, but Hasbro slashed the budget for transformers and they had to simplify the designs radically for a mass release. So the RiD Bulkhead you make fun of, well, he's that way because he was working with a much smaller budget. And it was an abrupt shift, so we should really be thankful the RiD line was as good as it was tbh
if there is a list, this mold is somewhat near ROTF Optimus Prime, it's just too perfect for the source material and being something Hasbro came up with
Wait a minute. Studio Series WFC Prime could conceivably work as a Cybertronian Prime Universe Bulkhead (god that's a mouthful). Broad shoulders, wheels in the same positions, an arm that can be replaced with a weapon... I can see it. Remember when we were all saying Legacy Bulkhead could be an Optimus pretool? Funny how it seems the opposite has some potential, too. Arguably more potential. Would it be show-accurate? No. Would it be game-accurate? No. But it could make up for the Legacy design for people who disliked that one.
this bulkhead feel identical to the first edition except the green color. its so much darker. and the eyes arent quite the same. no yellow issues with mine or loose issues. i have both so i have compared.
hey man, haven't I seen you do ratchet repairs before? I thought I had, but I'm not too sure. Anyway, it's stupid easy to fix those ratchets man. Just start pulling out screws around the waste, remember the order and which screws go where. Get a "sprew?" model part frame, that... and find a piece that's flat, like one with a part number or something, and some little snips. Cut to fit, and double it up, with the offending loose ratchet, reassemble, and boom, dunn!
Man I don't appreciate how you roasted Rid Bulkhead in this video The figure is not much worse than the First Edition, it's even better in some places. It has swiveling forearms and a moving jaw, which I think does a lot for its presence, and I think it actually has better proportions. Yes, First edition is rounder, but it also has a clear separation between its torso and waist, making it look less than like a fatty and more he has a puffed up chest. Rid on the other hand, his torso and are waist are continuous, so he looks more like Bulkhead usually does, and is arguably more accurate to the prime show.
I can say for certain the issues are due to being KO'd. The hip ratchets on mine aren't nearly so weak (or high pitched, wow that hurt my ears) and the head flips in and out more easily.
The only APC I won’t be buying (if they release them) is Bulkhead (I have FE with upgrades), Breakdown (I have toyhax stickers and 3D printed resin hammer) and Ultra Magnus (I have Beast Hunter with Solus Prime and rifle upgrade). Other than that, I’m looking forward to future APC. Bring on Wheeljack!
My theory is that the reason that they went from the First Edition toys to the RiD toys was that Hasbro believed the FE toys to be too expensive to mass produce, so they made a cheaper toy for mass-market and left the FE’s to a convention exclusive.
Probably general budget cuts
Very likely. They produced a batch, got their budget cut, then rushed out the cheaper toys to have *something* on shelves
That's not a theory, that's what the reason was
Uh no there was a huge budget cut in 2011 and they had to make a cheaper line

Seems like quite a hoop to jump through (and a bad business strategy) for a 3rd party company to compete with itself by simultaneously doing two production runs of different versions of the same character
You should get the APC soundwave, you'll love it
Ya love to see the prime models
I believe the wheels did actually snap into place on the official First Edition Bulkhead
Funnily enough I love the RID one more XD
also know as
APC
"Arms Iron"
only thing I'd recommend you place in your videos dude
alt names, that the knock offs go by lol.
don't know if its the lighting your using, but mine is a lighter shade of green?
more show accurate
(or mine is one of the really old 1s and faded lol)
all in all great video
thanks for the upload.
C'mon Hasbro, gimme Studio Series Prime figures you cowards
This is a very good looking bulkhead.
Are you going to review Transformers Beast Hunters Voyager Ultra Magnus
If APC Toys makes Wheeljack I'm going to buy it first thing!
Cara quando lançar pega o APC TOYS cliffjumper eu estou esperando muito por esse toy
You mentioned in a previous video that you have quillfire, and during the vehicle mode comparisons I half-expected you to bring it out because quillfire and bulkhead share an alt mode, it's like the same cgi model they've just retextured for R.i.D
He's packed away at the moment cause moving things around but I would have if I had him
That toy guy, when shall we be graced with Animated lugnut
bro the "funni" had me on the ground
To clarify, APC has not released a bulkhead. AC toys has. They are SEPARATE companies competing.
I can’t wait for prime bumblebee knockout and breakdown dreadwing and skyquake eventually
Honestly I always thought that bulkhead was a souped up OC that the guy who made animated created
You should get the APC Toys Optimus Prime
really surprised that the round bot forms into that car. i was expecting a round and smooth cybertron altmode, not one that looks like it comes from earth
I’m a proud owner of OG FE Bulkhead. :)
The violence was one of the reasons tfp was one of the best shows
if there is a list, this mold is somewhat near ROTF Optimus Prime, it's just too perfect for the source material and being something Hasbro came up with
8:31 this is a reference to transformers angry birds
Ngl. RID bulkhead is actually pretty underrated. Not as bad as it looks. I just wouldn’t use it as a bulkhead is all.
I want the FE Bulkhead more than anything in the world
I’d like a toy of his RID15 design to!
Is this apc toys? It seems like there is a good amount of paint missing like on the cannons the blue glow.
Man I don't appreciate how you roasted Rid Bulkhead in this video
The figure is not much worse than the First Edition, it's even better in some places.
How did you get it! I thought it was sold out like everywhere!
My hasbro bulkhead has the same issue with the yellowing of the bicep and hands
I can say for certain the issues are due to being KO'd. The hip ratchets on mine aren't nearly so weak (or high pitched, wow that hurt my ears) and the head flips in and out more easily.
I have a question are the original one still available?
I've been wanting a good figure of Bulkhead
The only APC I won’t be buying (if they release them) is Bulkhead (I have FE with upgrades), Breakdown (I have toyhax stickers and 3D printed resin hammer) and Ultra Magnus (I have Beast Hunter with Solus Prime and rifle upgrade). Other than that, I’m looking forward to future APC. Bring on Wheeljack!
RID Bulkhead isn't bad, but if you really want a good Bulky, just buy AOE Hound.
When I first saw the show I thought it was hound lol
says hes not getting r.i.d bulkhead yet he has it in beast hunters form
