The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

What say you? Hall of fame for Metta??
No, not after what he pulled in 2004
@@JimBrave-ri1occasual he was Kawhi before kawhi
@@JimBrave-ri1ocIf you don’t mind me asking, what about him stood out to you as a prospect initially?
NOT ONLY NO, BUT HELL NO.
Your advocating for him? Where's the vid for Stoudemire?
Metta was a darn good player. Especially defensively.
Noobs sleep on his offense.
@@younglove3362Didn’t mean to imply that he wasn’t good there, but I would say he was better defensively than he was offensively.
@@younglove3362Theres Nothing to sleep on, Dude was an average scorer at best..
@@TellHerNothingFor a 7 year stretch, he averaged 18.0 ppg, peaking at 24.6. By what standard is that average? That's a good #2 scorer on any team. Also keep in mind that was the slow ball era.
@@John6-40 Just to let you know he played 7 games the season he averaged 24 ppg
Artest is one of those borderline hall of famers, like Tom Chambers or Shawn Kemp,
due to their talent there is no doubt that they deserve to be included,
but given how their careers have gone they remain pending as eternal candidates,
a real shame.
However, I don't lose hope,
I remember a talent in my opinion indisputable like Dennis Johnson,
he retired in 1990 and was inducted into the HOF in 2010,
3 years after his death, a real shame that he couldn't receive this honor while alive,
he had all the credentials to be part of it
3x NBA champion
Finals MVP in 1979
5x All Stars
2x All-NBA team
9x All-Defensive team
No. 3 retired by Boston Celtics
yet it took 20 years to be inducted,
I wish Artest the best but if he ever gets inducted into the HOF
I won't be surprised that it will be a few decades after his retirement.
His name is actually Metta Sandiford-Artest now. Plus I usually call people who have changed their name by their chosen name unless the salutation made it necessary that I clarify it.
What if you had to make a starting 5 with all sixth men?
GREAT question! Ill think about it, and I’ll add that to my list for the 200 questions video 👍
Jamal Crawford and Manu would have to take the lead on that.
Does James Harden count?
Do they have to be the award winners, or just great 6th mans? Because a guy like Robert Horry never won it and I consider him one of the best 6th mans to ever play the game. Same with Andre Miller. Ginobilli and Andre Miller in the back court. Toni Kukoc at the small forward. Robert Horry at the power forward.Cliff Robinson at the Center. If it's just award winners than I switch out Horry for Mchale and Andre Miller for Lou Williams. It's a great question though.
really good question.
great vid, he deserves to be in the hall of fame because of malice in the palace alone.
world be free and metta world peace are the first starters for the all peace and love team.
with Kevin Love as the PF/C, I'm assuming
Loving you work. I'm coming back to watch NBA games and content since last year and you're a reason I want to know a bit more about different eras players. Would love to see your Top (10/30/50) players without a title and would love a list with the players with more swag or more style (Just an excuse to have a list with Iverson, T-mac and Vince Carter together). Greetings from Brazil.
See idk if the community that inducts people into the hof is biased or not, his career can be considered as hof career but if bias is there then I doubt he will make it because of controversy and his act.
HOF? He was a amazing player but a 1x All nba and 1 All star is not close to Hof worthy, I don't care if has was the 3rd or 4th option in a championship team, do you know how many 4th options with better careers there are?
@@DABBINGUP I said considered lol Marc gasol can be considered into the hof
@@Debraj_ae. Marc Gasol has won 2 Fiba world cup, Hof is not only NBA.
Let me tell you, i never overlooked Artest's influence on the court. One of my favorite Lakers during that time
...also the only season in Houston was excellent
Sadly, NO.
1 ring and 86 games suspension dont cut it
plenty of non champions in the HOF
@PhillipCummingsUSA doesn't matter 1 all star team and 1 all team selection a gonna caught it
had the Malice never happened, he could've been Kawhi before Kawhi. He was that good.
@@JimBrave-ri1oche was better than draymond chill out
Khawi? Hell no!
you clearly don't watch basketball 😅 stop sayin random shit
@JimBrave-ri1oc bro was better than draymond offensively and defensively. Hell you talking about
@@JimBrave-ri1oc oh so Draymond is a better offensive player than Metta? HAHAHA stop capping. offense is the other half of the game. Dray doesn’t compare to Metta on that end. thus Metta is better. he’s a better two way player.
Day one subscriber here wanna thank you for the frequent fire content 🔥we appreciate you bro
Great Video as Always 💯❤️🇩🇪
Jonny, I love your contents! Great work!
Hall of Very Good
Definitely!
A decent rapper too! Met him at a club where he performed. Very cool guy! Probably not a HoFer but had a unforgettable career
Definitely in the bleacher hurdles HOF.
He's known for malice in the palace, changing his name, and that vicious elbow to James Harden. Is that hall of fame worthy?
HOF for singlehandedly changing the NBA lmao
NBA hall of fame has a very low bar in accordance to other sports. All you need is a few accolades and you are in. He is on that borderline so this can go either way!
He's not a borderland Hof, there has been 500 players to be a all star, and 200 players to make all nba, he was a 4th option in 2 Championship teams, that's simply not even close, demar derozan or iso Joe, LaMarcus albridge are borderland hof
Underrated. Maybe forgotten. A long shot for the Hall of Fame.
Loved Ron Artest as a player but I don't think he will get the hof nod. I blame most of it on the Malice At The Palace. Even then his accolades and numbers imo are just on the edge of making it. If he gets in my next question would be where is Tim Hardaway Sr. and Penny Hardaway,
I love this video. Especially because of the nod you gave him for his piece in the championship run. Casual basketball fans will be like kobe won this ring blah blah blah no all stars. It ain’t about how many stars you can pack onto one team. Its about people playing their roles and doing it well and ron artest did what he did at a championship. Even if he never won a championship. Those thjngs make a difference
Yeah Kobe won, no all star blah blah ! It does not mean Artest was garbage or the other were trash. Artest litteraly brought what Ariza was bringing the year before. The ship was not about stacking the Lakers with superstars like some others do forrming superteams.
One of my fav Lakers of all time.
as a pacer fan i will allow it
he in my top 3 fav players ever
besides Kobe he was my favorite Laker during that era
Ron scared the NBA irredeemably. “The Malice” changed the game. Ron was an excellent player and a great wing defender. “Metta” is a ridiculous name.
Just one All-NBA team and one All-Star team. The longevity, DPOY, and All Defensive teams push him into HOVG status but HOF? Hell no. Joe Johnson made 7 All Star teams with 20k career points and the chances of him entering the HOF are about 50-50.
🏀
Haha you got me, this is a tough one
Good player forsure, on the verge of great.
It’s a no for me on the HOF vote. Love his stint especially with the Lakers 🫡
Sidebar: you should do more of these. There are a lot of players that are definitely debatable HOF candidates
Kevin Johnson should get in; before his hernia issues, he was a 20 ppg/10apg speed demon.
@@camaradiop3731man KJ was a beast before those injuries so was Ron Harper in his clippers days
@@joel8692
I'm glad someone remembers him for what he truly was.
I’ve always wondered why you render videos in 720p instead of 1080p
I saw the Malice at the Palace documentary, there are many things that weren't shown in the official media and Artest was the scapegoat for everything that went wrong there. Many other people and also players did terrible things, but some even got away without any punishment at all.
Exactly
If whoever threw the drink at him didn't do that, I don't think any of that happens because he was just laying on the scorers to table.
Real reason for calling him Ron Artest: shorter name to say 40 times, consistency.
Metta is deserving of the Hall of Fame, just in case anyone forgot he did take out peaking James Harden's head.
Not a chance in hell, I will be amazingly wildly impressed if by the end of this video you can make a case for this guy. He doesn't pass the eye test, sort of like Robert horry. Just because he was a contributor to a lot of winning teams, doesn't mean he's Hall of Fame worthy.
And yes I know the guy was fantastic on the defensive end but did he dominate like Ben Wallace? Winning multiple DPOY awards. Wallace made it in because of that kind of dominance. Artest? No way
U really comparing him to horry 😂horry was never considered best in league at anything except in big time shots but rob was a role player his entire career
@@epicmarco514 you're making up an argument where there isn't one. The comparison is only that Robert horry was in a lot of big games and won a lot of titles. Artest had the same thing going, where whether it was the malice, different high-profile runs with different teams titles with the Lakers etcetera, he had a much higher profile than his talent and impact would deserve and indicate just like that's all. And by the way, what on Earth was Artest ever the best in the league at??!? Occasionally shutting down the best wings in the league if he put his mind to it?? My dude was never a shutdown defender. Shut down Defender is the term used for people that actually shut everybody down. He certainly had the ability when he tried but he was a head case so he didn't always try. Robert was mayyyybe the best at hitting timely game-winning playoff 3s?? Neither one is a Hall of famer but there is certainly a call for them to be from a lot of the basketball fandom out there. But if we start letting guys like that and we're turning into the Rock and roll Hall of Fame.
If he didn't play with Kobe his name would never be mentioned, the same with Dennis Rodman being on the Bulls teams with Jordan.
Nah rodman won 2 chips with Detroit and was named DPOY twice there and also won 2 rebounding titles
No he is not one of the greatest player we have ever seen but he’s one of the greatest defenders we have ever seen.
He did not start punching people!
Stephen Jackson is the one throwing punches in the stands.
Ron Artest ran up, and was asking who threw it when Stephen JackAss just started throwing blows.
Did anyone notice how short he looks on that Rockets photo? I bet he was taller than tmac
imo he deserves to be in the Hof. If tmac got in then Ron should.
More clutch than anyone would expected
🎉❤
Artest's character was never in question. His temper was, but not his damn character. Everyone knew Ron was a great guy & a great teammate with a volitile temper. Also, Allowing T-Mac into the HoF means all champions & league award winners also make it in.
Tmac didn’t win a ring or major awards
@@andresdelportillo9917 that's the point though, if tmac can get in without a ring and major awards then so should everyone with them.
@@JimBrave-ri1oc Artest was nowhere near dirty. He played within the rules of the game. A hard foul & a soft foul gets the same penalty. That's not playing dirty. The entire Knicks team played like Artest played. Even Draymond isn't dirty, he goes overboard with the talking & fighting but within the game he's not playing dirty. Also, Racist? How was he a racist? He called a white guy a "bitch ass white boy" a bunch of times? Or are you talking about all the times he called a black guy a "bitch ass ninja"? Racists practice racism, which is a system of criminally attacking people physically, economically, politically & socially simply because of their race, ethnicity or religion. Did he do any of that? As far as I saw, Artest would punch anyone in the mouth who talked out of turn or played out of bounds, not just white guys.
@@andresdelportillo9917 That's my point. TMac didn't win shit, other than svoring titles, & he's in the HoF.
@@JimBrave-ri1oc I don't think he should be there either but they can't have double standards, if he's in, Artest FOR SURE should be in.
I loved Mitch Richmond when he played but him making the hall and other similar players has set the bar low. Yeah Mitch gave you 25 a game but those were on many teams not in the playoffs except for maybe twice. He finally got a title with the lakers but he was like 14th in rotation. So I would definitely say MWP is hall worthy.
Metta is a HOF.
ONE SEVENTY FOUR!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
That fight at the palace ruined him. His career is definitely HOF material.
Most slept on Laker player
He's changed his name again now, he's now Metta Sandiford-Artest.
not every good player should be in the hall of fame. the hall of fame needs high standard's
the panda's friend was a good scorer with the pacers and with houston, good player defensively but had too much trouble on the court. he also broke jordan's ribs
artest grab the airball of kobe and put in a buzzer beater lay up was memoriable, especially he just shot a bad three point shot with like 20 seconds on the clock, luckily the lakers kept him on the floor and then his next play was the game winner.
Malice in the Palace doesn’t just go away. There’s a reason.
can you do a video on if chauncey billups can make the hall?
A 1 time all-star, with no international play cred, and a history of controversy. Only rodman could possibly get into the hall on that.
Rodman led the league in rebounds for 7 years and won defensive player of the year award twice, won 5 rings with 2 different teams and has 8 all NBA defensive teams selections. He's known as one of the best defenders and rebounders ever artests offensive numbers were definitely better but his accolades aren't close to rodmans
@@joel8692 yep. And rodman JUST got in. That's my point. Artest has no shot.
Hardest punch in the game
Just wanna help the video
I say no. Dennis Rodman got in because yes he had issues and a bad rep but had strong contributions to 5 championship teams. Artest won 1 chip towards the downside of his career.
He was gonna win MVP the malice year!
They won 61 games the year before. They added Stephen Jackson. And artest would he getting more shots with Reggie being hurt and saying it's his last year. They gave the MVP to Nash the malice year. And that pacers team would've had more wins and been elite on both sides of the ball. He was gonna get the MVP.
I'd see Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups and Rasheed Wallace in the hall before Artest
The way the nba is going with lowering the bar, Jordan Poole will make the HOF.
Do iggy next
Not a Hofer but great at his peak.
His name is now Metta Sandiford-Artest.
Which is weird. I thought that was the case, but I saw that Basketball reference now lists him as Metta World Peace… so then I thought maybe he changed it back?? Idk, either way, y’all know who I’m talking about 😂
Glen Rice should get in before they even open Artests Basketball Reference page
Sadly, the NBA is never going to put this man in the hall. They are so damn concerned with image over substance. Chris Webber got held out for years because he was a broke ass kid who took money in college. If we REALLY want to start digging into people who took money in college the hall of fame would be a pretty empty place.
He was a much better player than Draymond who everyone pencils in as a sure 1st ballot HOF so he definitely deserves a nod. However, he likely won't get in due to his past. The Malice in the Palace still hangs over the NBA.
Kobe knew that since we weren't bringing back Ariza, Artest was a guaranteed that we needed to keep that defensive edge and also take defensive responsibilities away from Kobe so he could focus more on leading us on offense.
Of course. He belongs in the Hall of Fame.
@@JimBrave-ri1oc nope. Karl Malone is a case of on court of course but due to his off court action hell no.
Ralph Sampson and Vlade Divac are members but Ron Artest/Metta World Peace was a better player.
Honestly? I think he's right on the border of being HoF, but since he's most infamous due to the Malice at the Palace, voters aren't gonna give it to him
He's as good as Scottie Pippen. He just never had Michael Jordan. Swap Pippen for prime Artest, and Artest has 6 rings and a bunch of 14 year old fuzzy lips saying Jordan never won without Artest.
lmaooo u can definitely swap a few guys for pippen and Jordans bulls still win the same. But he's definitely not better than Scottie pippen bro not as a playmaker and while Ron was a great defender pippen was elite and one of the best defenders ever
u recording in that submarine that imploded
this
Honestly I feel like MWP isn't a true HoFer. He always felt a tier or two behind the other superstars of his era. That being said when you compare him to some other people that have made the HoF he seems very favorable so it is hard to make an argument against other than I want the HoF to be more selective.
That being said that could be an interesting video. Your top 10 least deserving players to make the basketball HoF.
Yeah he belongs in the half hall I’m I think he’s a top ten wing defender
Artest could legit guard 1-4 and smaller 5. Artest was brutally strong and physical. Artest said he would practice with a 70lbs weight vest. However I don’t believe he’s HOF.
Am I the only one who thinks, from certain angles, he has Kobe's facial features?
Can you do if every DPOY was given to the best defender video
@@JimBrave-ri1ocIn particular the years that Bruce Bowen and Marcus Camby got it are cited as years that it could’ve gone to Tim Duncan.
He was a good player, I love Meta, but the hall of fame lets too many people in, and this would be an example. The baseball hall of fame would NEVER let someone with analogous stats in their hall.
HOF..??? Nah no way
let’s be honest here….lots of players have made it to the HOF with lesser ability and accomplishments. hell Dennis Rodman made the top 75 team over the likes of Dwight Howard, Bob Lanier (most underrated player of all time), Klay Thompson, Vince Carter, etc. my point is there isn’t really a set criteria that these players need to reach.
@@JimBrave-ri1oc okay if the criteria is “WINNING” then every player who didn’t win a championship should be eliminated. while you’re at it, eliminate every player who won but was the main reason for why their respective were “WINNING”. there’s goes AI, Barkley, Malone, Stockton, Anthony, and all those non winners.
uh oh bye Kareem, Magic, Shaq, Kobe, Timmy D, Dr. J, KG, Curry, and other players who won but weren’t the main guy in ALL of their championships….doesnt what i just said sound stupid?
that’s how you sound
@@markjackson6431rodman led the league in rebounds 7 times and won defensive player of the year award twice along with 8 all NBA defensive selections. Hes a 5 time champion with 2 different teams and was a huge part in each. I agree that Dwight howard should have been chosen for the 75 greatest but rodman is not a great example to use. Guys like dame lilard who hasn't won any personal accolades or team accolades should of been left out instead of Dwight howard. The only thing dame has done is hit some long shots
@@joel8692 Rodman is a great example to use. he was virtually non existent on offense. and yes he was a huge part but his impact is like Draymond Green impact. meaning that they’re like the third best player on their teams. they didn’t make it by driving the car. they made it by RIDING in the car. i’m big on defense but offense is the other side of the game. D. Lillard wouldn’t make my list and neither would Rodman. but Lillard is an amazing one on one player. he’s been a franchise player. you can’t say that for Rodman. Lillard has more of a reason to be on the list than Rodman. you can’t say with a straight face that Rodman is a BETTER OVERALL PLAYER than the likes of Lanier, McAdoo, Howard, Thompson, Carter, Bosh, etc. with the exception of Carter all were great 2 way players. Rodman has never been a franchise player.
great player, great career, but I don't think that it was worthy of an induction. The HOF should be a place only for the greatests in the history of the game, and Ron is far away from that group. I even do think that some players that already are in the HOF shouldn't be there.
Ben Wallace was straight robbed for DPOY in 2003-04. No shot Meta deserved that over Ben. Voter fatigue 😮💨
Meta still deserves HoF solely for that post game 7 interview.
He's had 10 times career and was 10 times the player draymond is but draymond is part of the media
Basketball hall of fame has really low standards if you wanna just put any decent player in, make a few all star games and you’re a hall of famer now? Imo you should be a legendary player to get in
good career, but I still remember him for almost killing james harden
I cant think of a player more scrappy than World peace....he was like draymond but better lol
Man people forget if were not for Ron Artest kobe doesn't get his fifth championship. Go back and look at game 7 of the 2010 nba finals
He made kobe a 5 time champ. Without him on that game 7, Kobe will only be a 4x champ.
No Hall of Fame after what he did in 2004.
I'm glad that he was able to have a productive career and remade his image but he literally started a riot that night and it was the single biggest black eye the league has ever and probably will ever receive.
No Hall.
Like a 30% chance Artest have to become a HOF, IMO. But, taking in count the Malace of the Palace, he has a 0%. Also, he was near a great role player/ star in his best years, and his best atribute was his defense, people dont care about it.
ron artest is worthy but that suspension ruined his chances for sure
No he is not a hall of famer.
I liked Artest as a player, but I don't think he should be a Hall of Famer.
Hard to say no to artest when a mf like McGrady made it in when he did way less.
Pippen >Kawhi>Artest>Draymond
I don't think Artest is a Hall of Famer, probably because of that Malice at the Palace incident
by your logic all those great players who’ve cheated on their spouse or idk….raped a child shouldn’t be included either. and those are far worse crimes than anything Metta has done 😂
@@markjackson6431 Okay, even without it, would he would be able to get in? He doesn't have even 15K points, 5K rebounds, nor 5K assists.
Maybe I'm wrong, but the resume doesn't stand out as much.
@@aznpikachu215 lots of player don’t have the criteria you’ve listed and they are still in the Hall Of Fame. stop moving the goal post
@@markjackson6431 I mean, he's borderline HOF.
I love him, but no, I don't think he should be a HoF. He's definitely in the Hall of Very Good though.
IF YOU PUT HIM IN THE HALL OF FAME WILL BECOME A JOKE.Might as well put anybody in
1x Allstar and a DPOY? I'd put Mark Eaton in before Metta.
He was a good defensive player in his days in Indiana and Artest rlly had some offensive skills in Sacramento
But his reputation got smashed after the malice at the palace
Do I think he's a HoFer? No. But the Basketball HoF lets anyone in. I think his career is good enough for them, but there's no way. And we all know why.
