    Amazing story! God was definitely watching out for all of you! Those were some bad accidents! It is truly amazing that Ian’s arm wasn’t crushed and your boys hurt! What a wonderful family! I made a small Carpenter’s Star about 5 years ago for a baby quilt. I think it turned out great! I meant to tell you that I was so impressed that Maxwell did the plumbing job! He is a smart and handsome young man that can get you to drive him anywhere! 😄

    Oh Jean, what a life story you've had. Ian in accident with 6-7 boys in the van, my word!! 7 small ( then ) boys were so gorgeous and you have not changed ONE BIT, Jean. I love the limousine, had to laugh when the person from hospital could not count whether there were 6 or 7 boys, bet you panicked then. What a challenge in driving the U - Haul while expecting, Jean. Thank the Lord for His guidance and what a miracle! Blessings and love, Thelma ❤ ❤

    Thank you, Jean, for all the beautiful quilts you have made over the years, taking us along. On episode 24 you did a show and tell. I loved those quits you made with a sew along. I know it is asking a lot for you do a sew along with that pattern especially since you are now doing the carpenter wheel. I would love to be able to get some instructions for that quilt if possible. Not now of course but sometime in the future if possible. I am aware it was years ago so you might not have a pattern anymore. That is of fine of course. I am looking forward to this sew along and the funny stories to go along with it. God Bless .

I followed along with the 'mystery quilt', with the instructions given every week as the quilt grew. Unfortunately, because of copyright issues, the pattern that I followed is not allowed to be shared with anyone. And even though I did print it out, as was allowed, I cannot find it anyway. Sorry about that:) All the best and thanks for watching me:)

He once bought a white stretch limousine (before i knew him) & I've heard some hilarious stories about it. There weren't many of them around, like you see nowadays. Were old, too haha So ppl really stared (is it a celebrity? they'd wonder, lol). My mom had that many children, too, but mostly girls😄. How did you ever manage?!! Y'all are precious! Thx for sharing. I saw your & Ian's front door rig with the carpenter wheel quilt. Soneone shared the title on Lisa Capen's Mystery quilt tutorial, as they've recently moved into a very old (drafty) home in VA. Are you using fabrics from your stash? You have so many lovely prints!
    Kaufman has a free app that helps you calculate yardage, pieces to yardage, binding, backing, borders, it’s all there! Bonus it’s free to use. Your smart gal Jean, you can figure out how to use it, no math involved, just counting….

      I most probably will be using fabrics I have!! And thank you so much...someone in the past has mentioned the Kaufman app....I MUST look it up!! Thank you so much again Peggy:)

    Wow! My parents had 7 kids and my dad bought a cargo van and bolted park benches to the floor to accommodate everyone. I’m #6 and there wasn’t seat belt and car seat laws then.

      Seriously. How things were back then!!! LOL! We took our 4 kids (under the age of 5) in a van seated on beach chairs wedged in between luggage!!! LOL!

    You just reminded me, just after I got my license, and before cell-phones, which we call mobiles, my sister was moving north from Dalby in queensland to Bowen, in the next 1/2 of the state of queensland. She drove the family car with 2 of her boys, and my friend who came to help me with driving. I think I was behind her, in their purple Mazda work car, with her other boy. the car had been sitting idle for a while. Her husband drove a large, slow on hills, truck, with all the furniture tarped down. He had got a bit ahead. The work car had just got a going over by her hubby, before we all left, semi driver, mechanic on semis, farm machinery, and earth works too, farmer, dam builder, sub-division road maker, and land plane operator. New (second hand) engine in it, running in the engine, speed was limited. The tyres were re-treads, and he had replaced 2 of them, the accelerator cable was frayed, kept getting stuck on full. Should be fine with the slow speed?!? Yeah, nah. In a long stretch of uninhabited road, hot day, tires expanded, from heat, one re-tread failed, rear drivers side, pushed the car off the road to the left, flood plain, built up road, massive deep 12'+ ditch that side, so I corrected, tried not to rush, to get back on the road. I must have planted my feet when the bang happened, so the cable stuck. The car corrected, then spun out end to end, nearly 3/4 of a circle, I found myself facing a car at an angle, realizing it was too fast from the cable, I turrned the engine off to slow it. That sorta worked, until it started reversing straight back from the momentum, straight at a skinny tree on the opposite side of the road. Not knowing if the brakes would engage safely, without rolling the car, I pulled not jerked, on the hand-break. Stopped 6" from the tree, in a cloud of dust. Opened the hood and freed the cable, found a fallen tree across, near both of the back wheels. Thicker than the one standing behind the car, phew. There was a red car behind me, he freaked out. He didn't like my slow speed, was about to pass us. Thank goodness for no cars on the other side of the road. Everybody stopped and ran over, we were shaken but unharmed. We all sat on a tarp by the road-side. With enough gear out to fit tyres in the family car, after bro-in-law, came back to see why we hadn't come, played board games and recovered. He went off to the next servo, to get more tyres, t'was a long way, came and put them on, drove it from it's resting spot. No more re-treads on their cars, the car only lost a bit of trim where the rubber exploded, but was essentially undamaged, drivable, completely normally, with another 2 new tyres on it. Talk about an eventful trip.

    Have you ever tried an accuquilt machine ? They have a die for this. I enjoyed your story.

      @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Kathleen;) Yes I HAVE an accuquit machine, but that die is $139.99!!! Expensive!! And I have to be able to try to teach beginners how to make this quilt!! So that wouldn't be of any help anyway. Back to the old drawing board!! Thanks for the info though:)

    I was thinking how neat it would be if you had the limo when your kids were in high school and picking up their dates for prom in it 😀. They'd be the envy of all the girls!

    Before you got to that point, I was just going to ask you, what ever happened to your Cadillac? Didn’t you have that at your last house? Did it get wrecked by the tornado/flood? I thought I remembered pics of it there. Or, maybe it was while you were there you showed us pics of it from before? I thought you still had it at that point.
    You’ll hv to tell us, what did you do abt the trip to Georgia? Keep going or find a way home? 😬 You left us on the edge of our seat! 😂

    • @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
      @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The old Cadillac bit the dust and we gave it to one of our kids friends ~ LOL! But I DID buy a new(er) 2000 Cadillac about 5 years ago. It was luckily, under the car cover when the tornado took down trees. The wind and trees totaled Ian's Pathfinder and dented my Mazda real bad. We got the Limo fixed (at Homer Cox Ford....in West Virginia, and believe it or not, that dealer is STILL there! They fixed the wheel and tire and rods and off we went on down to Georgia!! Chalk it all up to a fun scary road trip!! LOL!

    • @susanmei9980
      @susanmei9980 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory Phew! I thought it couldn’t be fixed. I pictured you guys half way there with 8 kids and no way to get there or home! That would hv been an expensive plane ride!
      So, you DO still have your Cadillac, then? I’m glad it wasn’t wrecked! I must’ve gotten confused bc I didn’t remember there were 2 of them.

    • @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
      @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, we still have our newer (2000) Cadillac. Mostly kept under a car cover but boy did it help us when Ian's car was totaled last year. THIS recent totaled car/VW accident, we were fortunate enough to have a truck given to us by our son.
