I've had a " Sistah Romance" with Patrice since about 1980 starting with this cut!! Will love her all of my living days!! Pure & unadulterated musical genius!!! 💘 💃 🎹 🎶 ♎
Most people know her for "Forget Me Knots" and "haven't You Heard", but don't know about her talents, writing, arranging and playing instruments. Her jazz work is outstanding but largely gone unnoticed except by true aficianados of the genre. Long may she play !!!!!
Also add teaching to that resume. She teaches at Berkeley College of Music in Boston and another institution on the west coast which escapes me at the moment.
Yep just got Prelusion on vinyl recently. Had Shout It Out for about twenty years. The later ones for longer. I like her work with Jean Luc Ponty as well.
I will always love love love. Dr Patrice Rushen and her music she is a Beautiful Jewel still most people under 35 Patrice who sad sad Check her out playing with Wayne Shorter Terri Lyn Carrington
I remember back in the day, we would play her music at parties, cookout's and just getting together with friends. We would chill. Those were good times and the good old days. "I MISS THEM"...
Saw her play in Grant Park, Chicago, in '83 and...she is the female Prince when it comes to playing multiple instruments, arrangements, singing etc. imo!
Damn Girl you rocked them keyboards!! I hadn't heard this song in 25 years. But then back about 15-20 years I heard Kirk Franklin's remix Looking for you. And it was weird that it didn't seem like the song that you sung. But hey... What do I know it could if been the song. So about 2 years ago I heard Your Original song and all the pieces of the puzzle fell into place. So DAMN HAPPY I HEARD THE ORIGINAL. GIRL..... You go on with your bad self!!! Great Jam and I love to roller skate to your kick ass song!! Thank You for...... That's my Jam!! Love from Detroit 🥰.
This song will never die. It will go on past 2020-21 and new generations will love it. I first heard it in 1979. I'm 56 years old. This lady's legacy will be hear until Jesus comes back. I didn't know she was a fantastic Keyboard Player. She still looks good and can have any man she wants.
and then Uncle Kirk sampled this around 2003 for "Looking For You". I was 5 when that song came out and this song "Looking For You" came out 19 years before I was born.
Before i depart this brilliant underated soul funk smooth groove by classic by Patrice Rushon Having you heard in the late 90s this brilliant underated soul funk smooth groove by the legendary Patrice Rushon Haven't you heard destroyed the dance floors in Ibiza and all over the world timeless classic
Before i depart Rewind back to the early 80s Patrice Rushon Forget me nots 1999 one of her forgotten underated gems blew the dance floors in Ibiza Having you heard people wanted to know this forgotten artist then they found out she is a multite talented person she was for the respect of music.
Yes i agree with you but in late 90s this underated brilliant 80s soul funk smooth groove by the underated legendary Patrice Rushon Haven't you heard destroyed the dance floors in Ibiza. back in 1999 2000
I understand that the sound of concerts when recorded with a cellphone sounds ugly, but really, what a terrible job the audio engineers did for that concert, it sounds terrible, a shame for an artist of her stature. it even makes the song sound bad not in sound quality, it sounds like it's a bad song (which it isn't, the song is excellent)
Her musicianship is not in doubt- her vocals ARE poor nothing to do with "acoustics". As a seasoned performer with over 40 yrs experience - believe me!
But it's not always about technical perfection and virtuosity. It's about honesty. An imperfect vocal sung by the right person and with feeling is 1000 times more emotive than a pitch-precise vocal with no heart behind it. If we judged every singer on how "good" their vocals were, we'd have some HUGE holes in our rich musical history ;¬)
Absolutely amazing, talented lady!! Love you Patrice! God bless 🙏❤️❤️❤️💫

Haven'tYou Heard...
Legend! :-)
Dope ....
Ok I love the song and the artist. I’m going to talk about the Elephant in the room. Maybe she was having an off night but her voice was a tad off.
Wendy and Lisa, are not in the same league with Patrice, who has been doing it much longer than them, and at a higher level since the 1970's.
She sounds...weathered.
Ooops, that's "Forget Me Nots", my profuse apologies.
Love PR but she did not sing enough at this gig. I was so dissapointed.
who wants who's sensitive, I do...
Reminiscing all those nights at the gay disco!

Just a tad fast for my liking. But hey....
moutton she sounds better than u tho
She sounds awful
its the acoustics, not patrice.
Her musicianship is not in doubt- her vocals ARE poor nothing to do with "acoustics". As a seasoned performer with over 40 yrs experience - believe me!
Moutton Noir I agree. But to fair to Patrice is never winning best r&b voice, but I always liked her voice. Now she still a beast on them keyboards!!
