Hey geetsly, could you do a video on why magnaguards wore cloaks? At least in ROTS. I assume they didn't do it for the clone wars because it would be more expensive and harder to animate fighting scenes. By the way you forgot to mention the extreme durability of magnaguards, consider they can survive without their head.
I'm assuming that they're referring to how B2's had better armor (that completely encased the sensitive components), as well as built in weapons (primarily a heavy rapid fire blaster, and the capability of having a heavy RPG type arm canon) While the Commando droids could take a few hits before going down, they typically didn't have as much armor as a B2 (this isn't much of an issue however, due to the increased intelligence and lighter frame for better mobility). The Commando droids were (to my understanding) usually armed with the basic blaster that normal battle droids had, as well as Vibro-Blades that allowed them to attempt close combat against lightsaber users
The combination of redundant torso CPU and terrific learning capacity made them pretty scary. Older more experienced magnaguards often retained the scars of battle to convey veterancy and intimidate the enemy. Wish we got to see a bit more of their true potential in the movies, but at least the expanded material shows what they can do

Not so much scared of more intrigued by the EG-5 Jedi Hunter Droid, a droid capable of blade to blade combat with Jedi but never saw the light of battle outside the Clone Wars Lightsaber Duels game. It would’ve been cool to see them in other media
“I might’ve been afraid, but I blew ‘em up just as well. I’m an ARF trooper with a big, scary rocket launcher.” -CS/CT-9711-12 “Cheng”, Captain and Scout of 442nd Siege Battalion
"I remember The Battle of Colla IV, thousands of my brothers were killed by those carnivorous bugs and their Scorpinek Annihilator Droids, those monstrosities of Droids still give me nightmares. Damn those Colicoids!!" ARC-Trooper Commander Lucky, ARC-7566, Munnilinst 10, 501st Legion. (Personal Headcannon.)
The only reason I knew that the Droidekas would be on there is because of the Battle of Ringo Vinda, where the Droidekas were deployed, and Commander Doom screamed them out, as if they were a problem, and General Skywalker quickly told the Republic forces to fall back because of them.
Isn’t it obvious? It’s clearly the *Gonk Droid* **starts having flashbacks of the battle of Geonosis where gonk droids we’re being used as suicide bombers which would slip behind republic lines and explode in their command posts**
So, either in official canon or legends (like it matters), there's actually some galactic law on the books stating that the 'speech' from the Gonk droid should NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES be translated. It's so mysterious. Check it out.
Jedi definitely didn’t like the droid commandos either. Especially later on in the series like seasons 4-7 when the show actually did a good job at representing different CIS units consistently, not like season 1 where 12 year old Ashoka could survive an entire group of mangaguards.
I liked seeing the anhialators return to film in the Book of Boba Fett, really displaying their destructive capabilities and how several elite fighters looked hopeless trying to take then down. Really good implementation by Faveru and Filoni.
What about Protodeka's? In one case one of them annihilated a very heavy republic tank squad which consisted of 2 AT-TE's, at least 6-8 AT-XT's (these walkers are no joke wish they where shown on screen tbh) and 1 TX-130 with ease (these too).
You forgot the DSD1 Dwarf Spider Droid. It was a massive threat even for squads of clone commandos, and even Jedi were wary of them. A single DSD1 could take out small to mid-size vehicles with ease by simply smashing the vehicle with one of the spider's powerful legs, and it had powerful cannons. They were heavily armored, so anything less than explosives didn't really phase the damn things. As a player of _Star Wars: Republic Commando,_ I can honestly say fuck those things.
the trident droids were intimidating in the sense that once they did get on land, they had large caliber canons as an arm and just blasted through everyone
I’d be terrified of the BX-Commando Droids with their agility, will to kill, intelligence, independent thinking, and skill with the Vibro Sword even as a Jedi I’d be terrified to see a few of those droids
Sniper Droideka. thick armor resistant to blaster (from the front) and a shield generator combined with the accuracy of a sniper from a position of defence? no thanks lol....
you asked me, commando droids are probably the ones that were the clones most feared, by virtue of being coming enough for the majority of clones to be exposed to, but, rare enough they aren't too common. Combine that with their lethality, and their penchant for subterfuge, ambush, in general underhanded tactics, and you've got yourself something any reasonable person would be worried about.
You missed the B-2 variant with Cortosis plating, which is an obscure (and canon) battledroid impervious to blaster fire and lightsabers. They were canonised in Thrawn Alliances
Commando droids were still used beyond the clone wars to resistance era they were mainly used as spies but the fact they were still used must’ve terrified even the first order
Commando droids are scary asf. Imagine one second you’re standing guard at your post, and the next second there’s an explosion from the wall beside you and a speedy droid jumps out and stabs you through the chest with a vibrosword.
The B3 ultra battle droids are definitely my favourite. I think they could be canon as in the dark decipal novel Quinn lan Voss examines a repair part for one and even says “this looks like a repair part for a B3”
TD's aren't scary once you take down their subordinates. in CWRP i actually captured at TD series on my own, and brought it back to base. you should have seen the reactions, it was amazing. i actually got offered to join the ARC for it, but, i liked being a 104th. my tank got blown up on some patrol on annaxes, so i went to sire base, the outpost that i believed was still under republic control, but the seppies had taken it over, i snuck in, thinking if i was to die better to do it earning my pay for some thrills, made it to the command center, killed the 3 B1's and wlaked the TD out at gunpoint, and even took one of their buggy's. the droids didn't see or were out on combat patrols. so i rode back into base in an enemy vehicle, with an enemy Tac droid at the wheel, it was actually amazing.
@@robertlinke2666 Tactical droids just spew cold, calculated facts to you Jedi about to kill it. Droid: The chances of you succeeding is 1 to some very big random number *gets sliced anyway*
Though B1 Battle Droids are not that scary if they are few in numbers, but a huge swarm of them is what will literally shit my pants. Also people tend to forget that Quantity has its own quality, like what Joseph Stalin said “Quantity is Quality.” To be honest it’s more terrifying if you are facing a bunch of enemies that are shooting at you nonstop.
Spartan War118 that’s what’s makes it terrifying, if you even peek out of your cover with Droids firing nonstop. You would be more than annoyed, you would be dead. That’s why the CIS was able to gain a handful of victories during the Clone Wars.
I can imagine some engineer laughing maniacally while creating some of these droids. Honestly i think they can make them even more fearful. load them with as much death gadgets as possible not just blasters and sheilds. im thinking cyanide gas, fail-safe frag explosives, fail-safe gas release, micro droid swarm missiles (like exploding bees) oh man so many possibilities.
I like that @2:45 those things are just blasting away despite the fact we've already seen the Jedi turn the corner at the end of the hall. They may be tough, but the seem a little dumb. "Target no longer in sight. FIRE AWAY!"
If I was a Shiny, the Droid I would fear most would be the Magnaguard and BX Commando Droid reasons being; When playing Republic Commando Campaign the Magnaguards were fast and could take heaps of DMG before going down BX Commando Droids had intimidation on their side, They would brutally kill Their targets, and almost killed the Clone captain Rex, and the BX could fulfill multiple roles whether it be Bodyguard or Marksman
Isaac Roman Another intimidation factor because you’d think that’s your ally around the Corner only for it to be a Commando Droid and then it sliced you up with its VibroSword
11:11 I had that comic when I was a kid and it came with a figure of that Droid with Padoine Anakin Skywalker. Even though those toys are pretty rare to find today I didn't enjoy playing with it so much because it was the only Battle Droid toy I had against a bunch of Jedis and Clones. Still have it.

Buzz droids just kind of seemed a bit over complicated. They were the Rube Goldbergs of weapons technology. Fragmentation warheads would have done just fine.
@@ThatsGuyFlaming I suppose, but there's still a chance that people can fight off a buzz droid. Not even R2-D2 can fight a shower of jagged metal propelled by an explosive charge. Buzz droids would be more useful if they were just used to take over enemy ships. That might justify the expense, but there are cheaper ways to scare an enemy. It's kinda like how they had B-1 battledroids operating gunner stations and tanks instead of just having turret droids and tank droids.
@@ThatsGuyFlaming Perhaps, but you could launch a missile in their general direction with a proximity fuse and destroy them if you keep your witts about you. Now if the missile instead deployed self propelled cluster munitions, you wouldn't have time to be freaked out.😁
I wonder if a couple of full payloads of buzz droid missiles would be enough to highjack a smallish capital ship. Like a CR-90, or maybe even an Arquitens.
@@elijahsellers3727 They could definitely do that especially if the buzz droids were reconfigured solely for the purpose of slicing which is what they call hacking in Star Wars. I loved knowing what the annihilators were in the last episode of BOBF, it made the horror of them much more potent knowing what they’re capable of. thanks Geetsley!
I know!
If I was a clone of the republic, then the droid I would be afraid of is the Bx Commando Droid
Can’t wait for the new season of Star Wars The Clone Wars, anyone excited. :)
B2s are way better and more intimidating IMO
Ügiustus Keiserus it was like a upside down egg

when it come out?
@Batman The Dark Knight Are you being serious? Because it was confirmed months ago the last season of clone wars is airing on the Disney streaming service
Not so much scared of more intrigued by the EG-5 Jedi Hunter Droid, a droid capable of blade to blade combat with Jedi but never saw the light of battle outside the Clone Wars Lightsaber Duels game. It would’ve been cool to see them in other media
They appear in the Nintendo Game for TCW as well! (Though I’m pretty sure that’s non-canon)

45+ hours you say ?
@@Wieselkatze what about 69 hours?
45+ hours of Republic propaganda.
@@fuzzydunlop7928 finnly another member of the CIS after all this time
The only reason I knew that the Droidekas would be on there is because of the Battle of Ringo Vinda, where the Droidekas were deployed, and Commander Doom screamed them out, as if they were a problem, and General Skywalker quickly told the Republic forces to fall back because of them.
Isn’t it obvious? It’s clearly the *Gonk Droid* **starts having flashbacks of the battle of Geonosis where gonk droids we’re being used as suicide bombers which would slip behind republic lines and explode in their command posts**
I think that the gonk droid is the scariest
So, either in official canon or legends (like it matters), there's actually some galactic law on the books stating that the 'speech' from the Gonk droid should NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES be translated. It's so mysterious. Check it out.

Frothy Walrus agreed
Millian Macalintal haha thanks
Jedi definitely didn’t like the droid commandos either. Especially later on in the series like seasons 4-7 when the show actually did a good job at representing different CIS units consistently, not like season 1 where 12 year old Ashoka could survive an entire group of mangaguards.
Who’s the battle droid?!
ITZ BUZZ DROIDZ
*Crack Addict chittering*
I liked seeing the anhialators return to film in the Book of Boba Fett, really displaying their destructive capabilities and how several elite fighters looked hopeless trying to take then down. Really good implementation by Faveru and Filoni.
What about Protodeka's? In one case one of them annihilated a very heavy republic tank squad which consisted of 2 AT-TE's, at least 6-8 AT-XT's (these walkers are no joke wish they where shown on screen tbh) and 1 TX-130 with ease (these too).
Apparoid Wolf
From Star Wars the clone wars video game on Xbox. Those things were tough
"Who's That Droid?!"
"It's the B1!"
"It's the BX!"
"F---!" (Dies)
As a kid, I was always scared of Kalani and commando droids.
Why the hell would you be scared of those
Same except I also found that red tactical droid in the battle over selucemi intimidating
Just a Critic that does not do his job It called child paranoia.
The citadel is also a great example of commando droids the shear relentles nest and being able to land hits while back gliping is amazing
I’d say buzz droids. It always scared me when I was little and I heard them in the Revenge of the Sith game.
I’d be terrified of the BX-Commando Droids with their agility, will to kill, intelligence, independent thinking, and skill with the Vibro Sword even as a Jedi I’d be terrified to see a few of those droids
As a kid when the prequels came out, I absolutely LOVED the droids. And still do today, lol
I fear the demo droids, hailfire droid, sniper droidickas and magnagaurds, dwarf spider droids and spider droids
Commando droids in the same numbers as b-1s... that’s terrifying.
What about crab droids? I've fought a few in Star Wars Republic Commando and they were in the battle for Utapau

Sniper Droideka. thick armor resistant to blaster (from the front) and a shield generator combined with the accuracy of a sniper from a position of defence? no thanks lol....
Sniper droidekas don’t have shields
I would only be afraid of a clanker if I were in space and they disabled my ship like the shuttle Tup was on in season 6.
Those Annilators made their debut in Book of Boba Fett when it came to IRL appearances
Omg at 4:23 the commando droid has almonds on his arms. I CANT UNSEE IT!!!
Yetus Fetus Gender Equality Deletus God dammit
Droidekas are the very reason i got into starwars to begin with, i love them so much when i was a kid and still kinda do
Magnaguards = Either Grevious or Count Dooku nearby. Scary af!
The annihilator droids are by far the most terrifying as there were even larger models that were used as planetary defense guns.
*Who’s That **-Pokémon-** Battledroid?!*
you asked me, commando droids are probably the ones that were the clones most feared, by virtue of being coming enough for the majority of clones to be exposed to, but, rare enough they aren't too common. Combine that with their lethality, and their penchant for subterfuge, ambush, in general underhanded tactics, and you've got yourself something any reasonable person would be worried about.
Crab droids scare me, imagine seeing someone impaled by one of their legs.........
Source? I'm intrigued
Commando droids are scary asf. Imagine one second you’re standing guard at your post, and the next second there’s an explosion from the wall beside you and a speedy droid jumps out and stabs you through the chest with a vibrosword.
B2s
"Watch those wrist rockets!!!"
The Sniper droideka is probably one worth mentioning, especially if you're a clone trooper.

The B3 ultra battle droids are definitely my favourite. I think they could be canon as in the dark decipal novel Quinn lan Voss examines a repair part for one and even says “this looks like a repair part for a B3”
All of the t-series bots are scary
Who knows when they will hit more subs than pewdiepie
Eeeeeeee

And the droids seemingly teleporting to right in front of him before shooting him too.
Ive been rewatching seasons 2 and 3 a those are full of this stuff too...
Well we finally saw some scorponek droids in action
Though B1 Battle Droids are not that scary if they are few in numbers, but a huge swarm of them is what will literally shit my pants.
Also people tend to forget that Quantity has its own quality, like what Joseph Stalin said
“Quantity is Quality.”
To be honest it’s more terrifying if you are facing a bunch of enemies that are shooting at you nonstop.
Well i wouldn't say terrifying
Just annoying
That i can't get a shot off because they're dumping lasers into what ever i'd be using as cover
Spartan War118 that’s what’s makes it terrifying, if you even peek out of your cover with Droids firing nonstop. You would be more than annoyed, you would be dead. That’s why the CIS was able to gain a handful of victories during the Clone Wars.
@@apolloknight9521 Dead does not equal terrified or annoyed
I still don't find that situation particularly terrifying
Spartan War118 what if your the one left standing and your facing a huge horde of Droids shooting at you nonstop?
I can imagine some engineer laughing maniacally while creating some of these droids.
Honestly i think they can make them even more fearful. load them with as much death gadgets as possible not just blasters and sheilds.
im thinking cyanide gas, fail-safe frag explosives, fail-safe gas release, micro droid swarm missiles (like exploding bees) oh man so many possibilities.

I remember coming across a spider droid playing republic commando and feeling absolutely terrified. But at the same time boss’s voice calmed me down.
T-series: Tactical droids
Buzzfeed: Buzz droids
If I was a Shiny, the Droid I would fear most would be the Magnaguard and BX Commando Droid reasons being;
When playing Republic Commando Campaign the Magnaguards were fast and could take heaps of DMG before going down
BX Commando Droids had intimidation on their side, They would brutally kill Their targets, and almost killed the Clone captain Rex, and the BX could fulfill multiple roles whether it be Bodyguard or Marksman
And they can copy voices
Isaac Roman Another intimidation factor because you’d think that’s your ally around the Corner only for it to be a Commando Droid and then it sliced you up with its VibroSword
Clearly not enough people have played Republic Commando. B2's are relentless.
Republic Commando isn't canon
Never played that game seen it but didn’t have a Xbox growing up
they are really anoyying had a hard time when they are in big numbers
Without plot armor, the CIS would annihilated the Republic

That sort of reconfiguration should be easy for the CIS. Their military was after all being produced by the preeminent authorities on droid technology.
So the giant droids used by the Pykes in The Book of Boba Fett. Those were Annihilators?
I've always liked the droids despite most of them having idotic programming (aka overused looney toones humor) the CIS is such an underdeveloped faction it's good to see it finally getting some love I really wish star wars lore would have delved deeper into the CIS viewpoint from average citzens perspective and why they wanted to leave the republic also with the mix of corrupt corporations bank rolling the whole movement
