A nice no nonsense review, cheers, a few questions, are rims tubed or tubeless? and where are the accessory prices you were looking at? do you have a link to any of the Chinese sites stocking parts? thanks again
Hi Barebones, the rims were tubeless, I know this as I had the tyres changed. The heated grips I fitted were from Aliexpress and took a while to arrive but I paid £10.61 for them and they were piping hot! I couldn't believe it. The parts are stocked by CMPO (Chinese Motorcycle Parts Online) but searching CMPO will bring up the site. The bike to look at now is the 525DSX (not mine the 500) which is up in torque but a lot more polished than my bike (the TFT is much nicer for example). MotoGB is the importer now and they are I believe bringing in the 525 as a new model next year...

I have the 500 DS - I like the bike but it does vibrate, especially at higher revs but is not as bad as it was when new, it has done 6700 miles, I had to modify that bar on the frame to allow me to remove the rocker cover,as the engine is off set by around 25mm . for £5150 on the road price complete with luggage is good value, I have not had any issues with the wiring connectors or any part of the bike. I like the metal screws which hold the bodywork together, not cheap plastic ones as on Japanese bikes.
Hi David, thanks for the comment. Nice to hear from a UK (I presume) owner of Voge who's done similiar mileage to me, they are rare but I haven't heard a bad word from anyone about them so far. I sometimes wish I had the DS as the 19 front is over kill for me but as the wheels are available separately I was thinking of a wheel swap. I would be interested to know how you modified the frame. Did you simply chop off that connecting bar or did you cut a notch out of it with a grinder? This is why TH-cam is great to share information 😃

Hi Derek, thanks for comment. Nice to hear from another DSX owner, you've done very similar miles to me. I have asked my mechanic if he checked the diameter, he did say that no adjustment was needed on my bike and recorded the clearances...
Hi Sean, watched this previously and ended up back here as I'm considering the VOGE DS525S. I've also watched your Norway ride, very interesting along with your touring tips 👍. If I understand you correctly you sold your Voge because of concerns over the future resale value? I'm personally not that bothered as I'm 64 and this will probably be my last bike for touring around Europe. What I am a little irritated by is the servicing schedule is every 6000Km which sounds crazy and the nearest dealership in Portugal is 340Km (4hrs) away. Maybe take the first time and see how much the service costs, personally I'm not worried about the warranty I feel you have to be really unlucky these days if you have a major engine problem.Change the oil and filters and keep riding. What are your thoughts, any thing further to add on Voge?
Hi Bob, I sold it as I wanted to get back to a classic styled machine and was worried about the value plummeting to £2000 (I paid £5,500) when it was out of warranty (2 years). Also it was very difficult to sell as many dealers would say 'what is it?' 'never heard of that before'. I did eventually get it sold to a small independent dealer and she has just had a deposit taken on it now, so it took a while to shift. The other problems with it were a small drip of oil from the whip hole (water pump) after 10,000 miles and it was very difficult to get the rocker arm cover off the engine to check the valves, as the frame impedes progress, I think I showed this in the video. The 525 motor is still the based on the old 500Dsx engine that itself is based on the honda CB500X engine except it's had the capacity increased from 471 to I think 494cc, but the power and torque seems to be the same. You could potentially pick up a 500DS or DSX for next to no money perhaps €3500 with low miles. The downside would be you might not get hold of the panniers etc as they were a model sold in low numbers and now discontinued. The new one has a nicer screen, it's restyled and a bump in capacity. Overall I enjoyed it, Suzie liked it as well. I guess if you change bikes alot which I have tended to do (but stopping that now 🤣) then it wasn't good sense, but a great bike to ride. Hope that helps, Sean
Specifically on servicing, an oil filter change is very easy as in the front of the engine casing. Almost unscrew by hand job. Air filter needed to take the tank off and all the plastic parts around that to access. Time consuming. I would check there are air filters available as well because while the oil filter is generic the air filter we had none in stock so I ordered one from Ali express and it didn't fit. Very slightly different and didn't line up. So that would be a pain if you were half way through a home service.
@@MindfulMotorcyclist I'm actually starting to lean back towards CFMoto 650MT now, don't think you've ride one of those. Still think everything applies as to the Voge. CFMoto 800MTM is too tall for me 🤔
I think CF is a bit more recognised a brand at this stage. The 650MT is 68hp or so which is a big bump up from the Voge. After browsing auto trader it's also cheap at the moment as CF is transitioning away from the old Kawasaki ER6 engine platform that the 650 and the 700 (CLX sport, heritage and adventure) range is based on. They are going to replace that with the 790 engine shared by KTM that outputs ~90hp. Are you buying new or second hand?

Also you can find useful the "clutch/brake wire lubricant tool", "side stand extension pad", "mirror risers", "bunjee net". Question. Does your grip heaters have levels of warmth? (1/2/3 ?) If they do, can you please give a link ? PS Don't worry about the crush bars or the plastics. I throw the bike down (from stop 0 speed) and literally 0 damage (!!!!!) on the plastics. Brake level broke and some scratches on the back of the mirror (minor issues)1
Hi Teo, thanks for your comment. Really appreciate the info. I'll try to answer some of the points. I had Barkbusters handguards but I found that they were hard to fit (I used Universal Tapered Kit), and worse they pinched the brake, throttle and clutch cables so I returned them to the store. What handguards did you fit? I have fitted mechanical cruise control for my trip to Europe but I found it hard on busy motorways, when traffic was merging you have to react fast to shut off the throttle and to apply the brake. Again I used a very basic device, did you have one in mind that you found useful? I have the side stand pad which is very useful on grass or gravel to stop the bike tipping over. I have bungie net but I dont have a wire lubrication tool or the mirror risers, perhaps I will look for these items. My heaters offer 3-4 levels of warmth. The top one is very hot and will hurt your hands without gloves but I like this here is the link www.aliexpress.com/item/33005988523.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.1.4c5826d7qLcdYQ&algo_pvid=2cbcea19-7f1d-4b85-920c-5b9fe47b4043&aem_p4p_detail=202304030439461459031321608680018054053&algo_exp_id=2cbcea19-7f1d-4b85-920c-5b9fe47b4043-0&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2267059890489%22%7D&pdp_npi=3%40dis%21GBP%2115.05%2110.68%21%21%21%21%21%402100bfe316805219860641767d0703%2167059890489%21sea%21UK%210&curPageLogUid=GbiTwlgPG82L&ad_pvid=202304030439461459031321608680018054053_1&ad_pvid=202304030439461459031321608680018054053_1 Glad to hear your bike faired well after a 0 speed drop. @@MindfulMotorcyclist Hand guards imitation with a patent, because the genuine Voge hand guards doesn't protect the hands from wind very good and i wanted to cover my hands very good. I use the Daytona maverick plastic guards (11€) with patent Cruise control "atlas" imitation (eBay 45€). Not completely satisfied, because here in Greece we have bad bumpy roads and the throttle gets moving. If your country has good roads, then it's ok
£47 to tax? What year are you from? *It's £80 for the year.* (401cc - 600cc) A good 10 years back it was £68 , so I don't know where you're getting £47 from.
Well I expect you got a bargain as this is the outgoing model. Not done the wrong thing at all I really liked mine look back at the videos, I went around Norway on it... lovely bike. Hope you got the boxes 📦 ☺️?
Wouldn't have a clue I'm afraid. More of a road rider myself, gravel track, campsite is my limit 🙂. The 650 is heavier but has more torque... Remember the Voge 500 is actually a 471cc bike. The 650 comes as standard with pirelli scorpion rally from memory whereas the 500 is Metzler Tourance. My 500 now has conti TKC70 rocks on there which I don't really need but I recon have improved things. I expect the 650 has more travel on the front and perhaps rear. Both bikes are now obscenely cheap at around £4.5-5k. huge value there...
Generally speaking this is true but I have to say my bike does draw some comments usually after people ask what is it, they comment that it looks nice!
There is very little they can do about that since it's just a bike. There isn't much in terms of "design" to speak of especially when we're talking about ADVs here. They're all going to almost look the same no matter what
I have one, to much vibration, poor electrics,.poor warranty service, its very unstable up 120km. I'm going to change to honda wayyyyy better, for a 1000 € or more, its worth it, gas milage 3.9, 4.

The top one is very hot and will hurt your hands without gloves but I like this here is the link

Glad to hear your bike faired well after a 0 speed drop.
Thanks again for the comment and suggestions Teo!

Hand guards imitation with a patent, because the genuine Voge hand guards doesn't protect the hands from wind very good and i wanted to cover my hands very good. I use the Daytona maverick plastic guards (11€) with patent
Cruise control "atlas" imitation (eBay 45€). Not completely satisfied, because here in Greece we have bad bumpy roads and the throttle gets moving. If your country has good roads, then it's ok
£47 to tax?
What year are you from?
*It's £80 for the year.*
(401cc - 600cc)
A good 10 years back it was £68 , so I don't know where you're getting £47 from.
I'm getting £47 from the under 400cc class a couple of years back! Yes yes, we are human on here and mistakes are sometimes made.
I’ve got one it’s great fun long run short run doesn’t matter it’s great go buy one it is similar to bmw as the company build bmw,s
How many miles you did after this review
Hello, Thanks for the comment. The bike left me after I had done 10,000 miles. So 4000 more after this review. Cheers, Sean
Hi. Are there any spare parts from another brands that are equivalent?
Air filter, oil filter, chains, spark plugs, fuel pump, etc. Thanks
Everything except the air filter I would imagine. Even the airfilter might be a pattern part. 🤔 thanks 😊
Would this model be good for me coming from an xmax 250cc and im 1.90 meters tall
If you want to tour/explore with light off road then I would say yes, but do try the bike before purchase... thanks
KYB non adjustable shocks and Nissen brakes aren't "top tier" parts , just putting it out there.
They are for a Chinese brand! We've heard of them for starters 😁
Hello, Ive just put a deposit down on this bike, have I done the wrong thing?
Well I expect you got a bargain as this is the outgoing model. Not done the wrong thing at all I really liked mine look back at the videos, I went around Norway on it... lovely bike. Hope you got the boxes 📦 ☺️?
@@MindfulMotorcyclist no boxes, thanks for the positive outlook.
no good little bike by the look of it
This or the 650 for off road?
@@MindfulMotorcyclist Thank you.
The Chinese have to sort out their styling. All the Chinese brands, cars and bikes are just a bit odd looking for my taste.
Are you sure you are not thinking of the 650DS which has a single cylinder? That describes that bike and not the 500DS...
@@MindfulMotorcyclist I have a Grey 500DS, it's not a good motorcycle for difference of price, I'm sure of it buddy.
@miguelcosta5519 the styling is horrible too.
We need such critics in the comments...so we know the other side of products
I like chinese bikes, but they are terrible at naming them
Hi Toni, I think all bikes suffer from this Suzuki GSX-S1000GT anyone, it's so hard to even say out loud 😂
Oh you mean Voge, yes that is an awful name i admit 😂. Zontes is another weird one...
@@MindfulMotorcyclist 🤣🤣
Weird name ?? What do you think about “Kronreif Trunkenpolz Mattighofen” then ??
