"We did it!" I love how you always give your wife credit for all things accomplished! There is great wisdom in recognizing her contribution. Nice job on the plumbing.
Wow this new pex is so much easier than the other pex. I think this could even make me tolerate plumbing. Lol. Doug you are awesome with showing so much newer, better products and installs. Thank you for the education! I am so happy for you guys that soon you will have a functionable bath. Again another great job!
I loved tuning in and seeing the great job you are doing on your nicely renovated home. A lot of work for sure, but you are doing a great job! By doing this yourself you know how things have been done. This isn't always the case when someone else does it. You guys are so busy and you must go to bed very tired every night. The best to your family and always keep the right perspective in mind when it comes to family. Make memories that yiu will cherish. Life passes by so quickly and your children will grow up so quickly so take time to enjiy them. Just doing things together. It doesn't have to cost much. Something as simple as having a picnic lunch under a tree or sitting on the river bank fishing for example. You will be glad that you did. Have a wonderful day!🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺😍😍😍😍😍😍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Uponor Pex from Uponor, Wisconsin. A Pex is what we use for our outdoor wood boiler. Its fantastic tubing for in floor heat, and water lines. I also made a heating box for my horses water trough, by screwing loops in the box and put spray foam under it. I never had a frozen water trough all winter even with days of -25 * F. Love this stuff!
I see Ashley there anticipating her first shower as she sits on the tub! It wont be a long wait now! I enjoy watching your family’s life adventures...you guys are an inspiration. Thanks for your honesty and showing the joy and pain of home renovation. Hugs to all, Darla in NC
I for one hate plumbing and it seems that I always end up with a leaky pipe or fitting. This Pex wants to convince me that it's possible to enjoy plumbing. Great job! :)
You should be sponsored because you did an awesome job at explaining. It's very nice to see you both working together. I also enjoy your funny sense of humor. My best wishes. From: SEA
I know!!! Then I feel guilty for that. As hard as you guys work on the house we need to always remember yoy have two children who need you both more than we do...then theres the video editing! Thank you for taking us along your journies with you. It is an honor truley. ❤🐎🐔🐴
Doug you are teaching us old dogs new tricks.. Someone needs to grab you up & sponsor you for some of these new products. WAITING FOR THE FINISH REMODELING REVIEW.. SAFETY FIRST & GOD BLESS
Genius! Great to see how all the Pex stuff works; your pros, and cons. Thanks for showing it all to us, and giving us a look at what you liked, and what you didn't like. Great video.
"It's getting better all the time." Water lines are run and we are all "pexcited" about it. Great video Doug and Ashley. Thanks for the DIYffences from the copper.
This is the coolest thing ever. I have only used PVC and on occasion copper for gas lines and brass fittings. Now that I am way to old to be fooling with this stuff, they come out with this new stuff. Makes me sad. Yall amaze me. I love watching your channel.
Doug we use the pex hose in the south. Great product doesn't leak like old copper pipe. Cheaper to. Easy to install and cut. Expands with cold and doesn't freeze like old copper pipe. Great investment for the future. Thanks for the informative video.
You did a great job on the plumbing...I really like the way you don’t have any clips, etc. I do not know how you can figure this all out in your head & then actually have it work out. You’re amazing! (You must’ve got your second wind, Doug... in the last video you were getting quite tired & a little frustrated.) Since you have highly mineralized water? you might want to flush out your lines/pipes every so often. Also, flush the hot water heater...sediment will settle in the bottom. We’ve got something similar & we have to flush them out every so often. Hot water heater, maybe more often? You’d be surprised how something so easy will extend the life of the heater! Now comes the exciting part..,putting in all the new fixtures, finishing your kitchen, living room & Maverick’s room. I’m beyond excited to see how this all turns out!!
I used an older version of Pex which has to have the crimper, and absolutely love how easy it is to us compared to using copper! Since I am about to remodel another bathroom, I loved seeing the new Pex system and will probably use it unless the tool is too high priced. I still have all the Pex I need, and like you, chose to use all white Pex. Thanks for sharing Doug! I know how difficult it is to be without water...I managed for over 3 weeks when I bought this old Victorian. Everything was broken! No water and all those burst pipes within walls...whowzer! Thanks to a great friend, we got water! It is worth doing it yourself...just have to have plenty of patience and a willingness to learn new things! I so appreciate you guys for sharing every step!
@@MiddleEastMilli I did an extensive price comparison and found Pex to be both safer and less expensive. You might wish to do the same in the area of the country you happen to be, since everything is different. I am in South Carolina, and bought supplies in both North and South Carolina, since I shop at Lowes and they are about the same difference in mileage. One had some of the Pex supplies, but between them I got everything without a long wait. I love Lowes because they actually had full time plumbers on hand to give guidance and answer all my questions. (That helps a great deal!) Unfortunately, I can't say that Home Depot is near me or has plumbers on staff.
I so enjoy watching your do-it-yourself rehab videos. You and your wife are such a good team and your explanations are so understandable. It brings back memories of my late husband and me doing projects and building our home as a young couple. The new products are so improved and easier to use. I look forward to each new episode. Good luck and stay safe while working.
That Pex stuff looks awesome and your set up looks awesome......I know you will be so glad to get all this finished so that you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.....Thanks for showing us....I'd never even imagined such a product.
I do this style PEX all day long it's a great way of plumbing in my opinion, I'm a plumber. Some Tips I would suggest.. Use 90 Degree Stub Outs outs and solder the copper stub outs to Hold Rights for under the cabinets and or any sink angle stops along with the Toilet Angle Stops... because it's much more sturdy in case you ever have to replace the Angle Stops in the feature or if you need to shut it off quickly the entire pipe will not twist the way PEX likes to do and or if you were to use a Shark Bite style angle stop you can just push it on instead of trying to hold the PEX pipe and possibly loosing the pex inside the wall. OVER ALL! AMAZING WORK! Looks great! Like I said before you need to start a Remodeling Business when you're done with your house man, no joke!
@@lisakindhart5505 The UPONOR fittings are cool, but cheap they are NOT, each fitting is 5 to 10 times more then crimp fittings, because they are proprietary (I DO know they have been copied) you also NEED pex A, NOT pex B, at extra cost, and you need the expander tool manual, De Walt or Milwaukee.
So glad to see you using Pex. My husband used it on our water lines. He used red for hot, and blue for cold, just in case something needed looking at in the future. I was grunting with you when you were straining to get it to curve. lol Nice job. Can't wait to see the next one. You all are really moving along!
Great progress on your project. Just a thought. I installed a sediment filter several years ago. I installed ball shutoffs on both sides of the filter housing to make it easy to change the filter element. Something else, I installed a drain pan under the filter - when you hit the pressure relief a fair amount of water is released. Lastly since you have plenty of room for the filter housing think about getting a larger one to reduce pressure loss and extend change out times.
Really like watching you renovate this home. Leaving the “oops” parts in is a great thing. Makes us realize that every project has those “oops” moments. Also, started watching some of your older videos and when you were painting the red and white mobile home and it started raining, I felt so bad for you guys. You two are awesome.
You guys are so modest about your work. It all looks like rocket science to me. It will be heaven to have hot water without boiling it. I have been there. This project will make the next ones seem like a piece of cake. Thank you for sharing.
Watching your videos make me want to renovate! Sadly we are renting and I dont want to put all that money into a rental house. The plumbing looks amazing and it is OCD certified! It was so calming to see it all neat and perfect.
I've said this before but you are both awesome! You make a heck of a team and can do about anything. You all learn quick and actually remember things, unlike me. Great vids as always! Love you teaching me new things and ways to do stuff. Keep up the great work!
Love the plumbing! Great product! Also glad you installed a rust/sediment filter. We had one when we lived in the country. Another tip for keeping your tub/shower clean is after every use to just take a dry cloth and quickly wipe over the tub, surround, faucet and handles. Leaving water sitting on fixtures can leave hard water residue. A farmer’s wife told me that years ago, and I have practiced it ever since. Really helps. Great job, you two!
Wow! I love that system, wish they had that when I redid our plumbing in our mobile home, I used cpcv throughout, but I would have gladly used what you used, I could have snaked it through areas that were hard to reach:) I noticed you are going to be using a filter to control your rust and sediment, we too have a rust (soluble and non soluble) problem and of course sand, we use a “Rusco” spin down filter, it gets rid off the rust chunks and sand and whatever else it catches, we have a 100 micron filter screen in it, and there’s no changing and replacing filters, all you do is turn a valve at the bottom and it flushes all the stuff out:) They have finer screens too. And after that filter we have a Waterboss Pro380 to soften the water and remove even more rust, the soluble type. We have had that set up for over 20 years and it works great, we just recently replaced the old Waterboss with the newest model. I know it sounds like I’m advertising for them, I’m not, I’m just sharing what we have been doing, we had too much rust and sand and those replaceable filters would clog up to fast and would get costly. Anyhow once again I love your work, the plumbing looks great! Thanks for sharing.
I love your passion for your work, I have absolutely no idea about building, especially this type of construction, since I am in Europe and houses are built totally different here, but I cannot wait for your videos! They are so interesting!!!
Doug, you always throw a little humor in your videos - Americana. A well thought out plan. Interesting product. This is exciting. Oh, and Pex should have sponsored you. You have many viewers.
This went from mobile home to permanent dream home. That bathroom remake sealed the deal. I love that pex system. How cool is that. Gotta remember for next bathroom job.
Wow! Gosh, I am learning so much watching these installs, thankyou so much! If my grandpa was still alive he would be amazed at this system. Blessings to you all ❤
Back about 17 years ago when Oponor was Wirsbo I had gone to a show at our commercial plumbing supply. Another thing about this brand of pex is if it gets kinked you can heat it with a torch or heat gun the link will relax with no damage to the line.
This PEX stuff is so cool. I just sent this video to all of the men I know. I do agree with you, you should have made the hole a little larger in the event of a slight expansion. Oh well, at least you'll know for the next time. Regardless, you did an "Amazing Job" for your first time using a brand new system install. btw: You should test out the plumbing with water for any leaks "before" you put up the dry wall. Best to be safe than sorry.
You must be a genius to figure / learn all that! It's amazing to watch! It will be so exciting to see your house finished! I know 100 times more for you!! A home you can be so proud of ! BIG Blessings to you all
I really enjoy your videos, you look cold. I know you are fighting the clock to get everything done before the snow hits. It's only in the low 50's in Indiana. I imagine it's probably 10 degree's cooler in Michigan. Hoping the weather holds out till you get what you need to get done. I am in love with the new water hose system! Also, cool tools
Looks amazing and I KNOW u have to be feeling less pressure now. But Doug, today u made me laugh. U reminded me of the cooking contest shows where everyone's food is excellent but the judges have to nit pick at something. Not necessary. U and Ashley did an amazing job. Yes some folks r gonna correct and judge cause that's their personality, but U guys did great and I learned about the new type pex as a bonus. Ready to roll on to the next step.
Wow! I've been fascinated by ped watching various US channels, I've never seen it in the UK, but the ped you guys have used is awesome! Don't know why we don't use it here. Also surprised when you mentioned hot water to the washing machine, all appliances in the UK are cold water fill only, been that way for years! The appliances heat the water, which is cheaper than using hot water from the boiler. Amazing how our two countries differ on things like this. Awesome job again guys!
Looks great you two. We had Pex installed in our home. Blue was for cold water, red was for hot water, that way if you have to do repairs at a later date it helps you identify which pipe goes where. You may want to label your pipes before you close in the wall, just for reference later.
OMG, I'm SO GLAD you did this video!!! I've never heard of the Pex, so now I will DEFINITELY be checking into that!!! Plumbing is tricky, but seems like this is a HUGE game changer!!! How AWESOME!! THX!!!!
I enjoyed that video very much! I love the pex! It did seem way easier, and quicker too! Very well done. I'll bet you inspire a lot of DIY projects in people. I know I'm inspired, and we have used some of your cool ideas as we build our last house. The coop is cool, the 'no expectations garden', you twos room, Belle's room, its all coming together guys, and you are doing an amazing job of it! ;)
That was very interesting to watch. You made everything look so easy even when you came across a little glitch you simply figured out how to move forward and completed the job. Looking so good and I hope there’s no leaks so you can have your water back.
I had never heard of this particular Pex product, thanks for sharing the information on it. As always, great content and video. Things are really taking shape now, it won't be long before it's all done. Take care.
Almost ready!! Yalls coats are making me dread what coming lol. I have a spring fed well for my water and it's making me feel like I need to go today to get stuff to get it protected from upcoming freezing cold. I know y'all are ready. Ashley your hands are probably icicles doing dishes right now. I hope y'all have a good day!
It might be helpful to label each pipe, so if you need to modify something in the future, you will know which is the right pipe. GREAT work and well thought out!!!
You've convinced me to use Uponor pex when I update all the plumbing in my 40 year old house!! So awesome that you'll have indoor plumbing again soon!!!🥰🛁🚿
Even though this was a learning curve for you you are such a solid teacher you made it look flawless thank for your hard work for .y enjoyment Peace be upon you and yours
That whole system looks so neat and tidy, you are both so clever to even attempt this sort of project, plus you know exactly what your system needs or where everything is should you need to do repairs at any time awesome, well done Ashley for having a go too
🙋hi from Scotland hi thanks for a great vidio you make it all look so easy and you will all be looking forward to having a lovely bathroom and having an amazing hot shower stay safe take care Anne Scott from Scotland
We live in NW Ohio and we have what looks like the same water filter you all installed. Unfortunately we still need the water softener. Changing the water filter is no big deal but the bags of salt we have to lug down to the basement and dump into the softener are a royal pain. Everything is looking so great. It has to be so cool to know just how everything works and is put together in your home because you did it . I hope by the time we are viewing this you all are enjoying a nice hot shower. As always...thanks for sharing.
NoWhere Nan - Yeah, those bags of salt are no joke. I doubt I could lug one and dump it these days. Did it all the time when I was younger. Our system was in the garage so it was much easier to access than a basement.
Amazing! Did not know something like that was on the market! Great find. I know how much of a pain plumbing can be. You hit the nail on the head while talking about all the fittings that are left over!Happy for you to finally get the water flowing. Fantastic job you guys have done! God Bless. OHIO

Doug, you always throw a little humor in your videos - Americana. A well thought out plan. Interesting product. This is exciting. Oh, and Pex should have sponsored you. You have many viewers.
I'm subscribing because I'm finding this project fun to watch come together.
Thanks!
@@diyfferent no problem!
Great job as always! I like the PEX and how you showed how to install it. Soon as I see your video's I watch them! They are that good! God bless !:)
Amazing technology, You did a great job . I just love your videos and find myself anxiously waiting for the next one.
This went from mobile home to permanent dream home. That bathroom remake sealed the deal. I love that pex system. How cool is that. Gotta remember for next bathroom job.
Wow, looks like a pexpert install!
You make it look so easy. You guys are doing a fantastic job!
This is so exciting watching your progress. I cannot wait to see how it all turns out!
Wow! Gosh, I am learning so much watching these installs, thankyou so much! If my grandpa was still alive he would be amazed at this system. Blessings to you all ❤
That is some amazing stuff, no torching needed as with copper and you made it look so easy.
Back about 17 years ago when Oponor was Wirsbo I had gone to a show at our commercial plumbing supply.
Another thing about this brand of pex is if it gets kinked you can heat it with a torch or heat gun the link will relax with no damage to the line.
Yea, it's really cool stuff!
U know how 2 built mobile homes thur ur experience. So built 1 a year on ur property, sell it and the proceeds go 2 - Ashley! Doug u just amaze me!👍👍👍
My goodness! Your work looks so professional!!!
Your plumbing looks amazing, you basically will have a brand new home when your done
Yeah, red/blue is the universal hot/cold. We put red/blue tape on the manifolds later on :)
I’m so PEXCITED and I just can’t hide it, I know I know I know and I think I like it. GO PEX👍
Your layout is very thoughtful! I bet you spent a lot of time trying to sleep while planning the job in your head. :)
OMG, I'm SO GLAD you did this video!!! I've never heard of the Pex, so now I will DEFINITELY be checking into that!!! Plumbing is tricky, but seems like this is a HUGE game changer!!! How AWESOME!! THX!!!!
The pex at most stores is Pex-b and not expandable so just check into the different types if you choose to use it :)
These videos are so easy to watch everything is so well explained
I like the bird sounds during the drilling. That is some clean piping, even behind walls you guys make it clean and neat.
Even though this was a learning curve for you you are such a solid teacher you made it look flawless thank for your hard work for .y enjoyment Peace be upon you and yours
That whole system looks so neat and tidy, you are both so clever to even attempt this sort of project, plus you know exactly what your system needs or where everything is should you need to do repairs at any time awesome, well done Ashley for having a go too
Awesome job both of U guys!! Pex no mess!! Plus a reason to buy a new DeWalt tool!!
Great job. I do not know how you stay sane:). The plumbing planning was spot on.
Same here. did a simple plumbing job on my sink and had to go to the store four times and had to take back about fifteen different fittings
Glad that something finally went a little smoother ! Know Ashley will be extremely excited to the hot water ! Awesome as always !!
Always learning something new on your channel.Way to go
I really like that new pex! It looks so easy and faster to install!
Clean and neat and beautifully done!
Amazing! Did not know something like that was on the market! Great find. I know how much of a pain plumbing can be. You hit the nail on the head while talking about all the fittings that are left over!Happy for you to finally get the water flowing. Fantastic job you guys have done! God Bless. OHIO
That looks so nice I almost hate to see drywall go over it. Almost. : )
Doug, I will bet when you go to sleep at night, you are dreaming of what to do next. You are amazing. 👍🏻
Very good job , a very neat install
Enjoyable, It's nice to see that they have finally got Pex fittings instead of having to use the old style copper fitting behind the walls.
