    Bruce’s thoughts on Chinese arts in 1969 to William Cheung: "I have lost faith in the Chinese classical arts…my line of training is more toward efficient street fighting with everything goes, wearing head gear, gloves, chest guard, shin/knee guards, etc…I’ve named my style jeet kune do, reason for my not sticking to Wing Chun is because I sincerely feel that this style has more to offer regarding efficiency."

    I agree with him! It’s ok to show videos of how to do a technique slowly, but it’s when they advertise “real” defense, etc and they show the attacker coming in at slow or medium speed and then the host defends at lightning speed that makes it unrealistic!

    *This was good! Loved your anti Wing Chun theory of trying to block IP Man style when fast punches come hahaha. My only challenge when I spar is that we're made to do it at the end of the class, after almost 2 hours in when we're really tired as we're told it's better to be warm when sparring, but most of the time we're really tired haha*

    This is the reason that has led me to practice JKD, I believe that every martial art has something good, however you have to be honest and see if it is really functional in a real case, that is why I believe that you have to practice from what is real, very good video, thanks Thomas 🙏🏻

    Also, people talk about breaking your fingers using the finger jab, ignoring the fact that it is 10 times more likely to break a finger trying to catch, grab or block a full power punch with your hands.

      @@andrew7a why are there so many people like you coming to this channel saying this crap over and over again and again? Enough with the “Bruce Lee said this, Bruce Lee said that” look at what he did and how he trained. Not what he said.
      Bruce said a bunch of contradictory things all the time.
      Here is another example
      “Of my art - Gung Fu and Jeet Kune Do - only one of 10,000 can handle it. It is martial art. Complete offensive attack. It is silly to think almost anyone can learn it.” - Bruce Lee (Jeet Kune Do: Bruce Lee's Commentaries on the Martial Way. Lee, Little.
      You probably haven’t seen that quote. Most haven’t. Because only the popular well known quotes that are used to push an agenda, and disinformation about JKD are used and perpetuated by other people quoting him.
      Here is a direct quote of Bruce telling you most people can’t do it. So I wouldn’t get caught up on what he said at one long in his life when a month or year later he completely changed his opinion.

    agreed. Train slow at first to get familiar with correct executions of the technique, but then pressure test it at full speed, unpredictable timings, angles etc. bring in the realism, and then re-evaluate what worked, and what didn't, and try again. Refining, step by step, hacking away the unessentials as Bruce would say.

    What you are demonstrating here is not free sparring but only a variation of the very thing you are criticizing. Boxers spar for real with protective equipment in the gym. Full speed and power. Do you guys ever do that in your studio?

    • @David.Von.
      @David.Von. 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Well, these boxers don't kick knees or groins...the front hand is just for medium jabs to get points or to try open the other boxer's guard. The "jab" of JKD is to KO

    I intend to disagree. You Jun Fun guys try to rewrite your own history regarding JKD. You think it's just fencing and punching. You keep saying it's not a blend of martial arts. And you know as well as I know that Bruce implemented different martial arts in his curriculum. It just seems everyone is in a little denial on this blog. Oh yeah, what is fencing and punching? You already know the answer to that hoss! JKD is supposed to be about what is your truth. It's not supposed to be about who's wrong or who's right. But again thanks for the video, Thomas.
