you videos are too long cut to chase please🙏
If anyone reads this, I hope you find success one day
Thanks bro

Thank you, You too 🙏
Thank you buddy ❤😊
Thanks
I have just started this channel and I hope that I made the right decision. However, one thing I have already learned is that it takes lots of time and patience to see your content getting pushed out. Either way, I am excited to see how my channel is going to progress! 😊
What resolution is your banner, lol
This is so true! I agree!!
Thanks. Very good video. You highlight a real problem with TH-cam. I have a channel focusing on international politics. I deal with different topics each week. Sometimes, it could be Ukraine, at other times Africa, sometimes SE Asia, etc. The problem is that while a small core of my audience will be interested in all the topics I cover, a video on Ukraine won’t appeal to my viewers who like my stuff on West Africa. TH-cam isn’t very good at differentiating. Often it will test a new video on Nigeria on my audience, but only a part of them will be interested in Nigeria. If the CTR is poor then it won’t push it more widely. A good video can be held back because YT makes an immediate decision on how it’s received by regular viewers who might not be the best audience. YT is good for the super specialist creators. It really does take a lot of work to succeed if you aren’t so narrowly focused. It is certainly possible, but I do think it is a lot harder.
Is there a way to re-train the algorithm to look at an older channel with lots of videos differently than before, or is a mountain of past algorithm history going to essentially lock me into whatever conclusion the algorithm has come to about my channel already?
I think YES, and that's really what I have come here looking for more info on. My channel has been a farming channel for 7 years, and I was thinking about shutting it down because my pay had gone from $2000/month down to $200 per month AND my videos were BETTER and coming out more often . . . but everyone said it's the same stuff . . . nothing new, so nothing worth watching.
Then my husband shocked me with plans to build a new house this spring, so I began slowly transitioning into a building channel. I used 4k video downloader (free) to download alllll 600 of my videos and re-upload onto a NEW channel. Monetized in just 3 months and making same as my original channel, releasing videos each day (might as well since I have 600). Then I deleted off my old videos from my main channel and began re-writing all the video descrptions and changed the channel name, etc to reflect building content. NOW, MOST of my views from suggested videos comes from other building channels . . . but I feel it still needs work. The idea and videos are great (professionally edited) but not getting the views they deserve :(
SO, that means more work to be done to research how to get my videos in front of more eyes . . .
Thanks man thats some really great information, imma have to try this out.
I think this is one of the most honest videos I have seen about this topic.
The changes especially in the last year drive avg videos and great packaging more than ever.
The problem is, what the audience defines as great packaging - which is where clickbait lurks around the corner again.
Especially for me, who wants to keep doing "my style" and authentic stuff, it throws me off that my most successful videos are a) very random and follow none of these patterns (doh) and b) those I don´t really like because they were kinda low effort.
One could think, ok cool, do more low effort and package them well. Thats also not hows working cause people will notice lol.
Its a very very hard thing for medium sized channels atm just because you don´t want to lose youre identity, still want to explore new things and yet keep the fun. But YT drives me into doing more of the same to keep a minimum momentum at least.
Checking the comments here also confirms the feeling, that many people feel the same way. Good content is not really rewarded anymore by default because youtube hits the fast money button to compete with tiktok.
Still, there are ways to crack it, but at what cost.
Genuinely, I usually hate "how to grow you TH-cam FAST AF" channels, but yours is the only one I love. It's rich of information, seriously helped me grow my channel from 600-20k subs in a few months. Thank you so much dude!!
I wish you luck bro, that means you're doing right
Wow. What did you change that you think contributed to this, please?
Glad to hear it! Congrats on your success 🤝

Recently about a week ago I made a video that would mostly suit the algorithm for my audience, and it started booming, it got to 1k Views on 9 days and I’m only a small channel and I went from 23 Subscribers to 52 in 11 days!
5:00 is the best advice ever stated in a video, look at me, I have 15k+ subscribers, and I lost my channels momentum because I switched niches. Truth be told I don't know if I can recover on this channel but I'll make another as per Marc's advice. Thank you Marcus for making this easy to understand with visuals and good scripting
I will try to do it. Thank you for your sharing. 😊
Over the last few months TH-cam has deliberately not pushed my content. I'm sick of people telling me that my content is at fault. My 'style' may not be everyone's cup of tea, but since absolutely NONE of those people criticising me actually went and watched my content, how would they know my content sucks. In actual fact, my regular subscribers are telling me they are not getting notified that I'm posting, that TH-cam is un-subscibing them, and absolutely no-one can find my channel when searching for it. I've changed the things on my thumbnails I was originally criticised for, and yet all my older content is still doing so much better than my recent up-loads. A few videos back, one literally had less than 100 impressions for days, and most of those were probably from YT putting my own video on my own home page and suggestions. Another still has less than a 1000 out of millions in my niche. Perhaps if it went back to using the SEO we're all putting in to tell it exactly who to place our content with, instead of just throwing our content at random people as a wild guess, we'd all be doing so much better. After all, I don't know about everyone else, but I'm rather sick of my home page being filled of suggestions I have absolutely no interest in. Like the football and boxing YT spent the best part of last year trying to ram down my throat, despite the fact I hate both sports, and have never shown the slightest interest in either.
Hey, I read your comment and checked out your channel. I have over 300 subscribers with just 5 videos on a 6weeks old channel. I’m not perfect, but I’ve learned a few things that could help you. Your thumbnails definitely need improvement. I think maybe you’re not good with things like editing and such. I can advise you to find someone who can create your thumbnails and edit your videos. Also, please note there was no intro in your video to tell me what the video is about or what I will learn. However, your content is good and unique. Just work on the thumbnails, video editing, and a clear intro. It doesn’t have to be super good, just decent. Your current editing and thumbnails are not very inviting.
@@nelo737 Whilst I appreciate what you're saying, you may want to take note where I said I changed the things I was told I was getting wrong. Having an intro was one of them. Also, some of my best performing videos have the very worst thumbnails. I'm in the severe disability group, I don't have the finances to heat my home correctly, so I can't afford to pay someone to make thumbnails and edit for me. Unfortunately it just is what it is, and that shouldn't stop YT placing it in front of people in my niche.
@@thenodiggardenerI have seen from your channel that you are very talented and i dont think your thumbnails are the problem, one thing i would say is that entertainment videos beats educational videos, IN MY OPINION because people tend to go on yt to because they want entertainment while if you need educational videos you need to search for it specifically ❤
Sorry for my bad english 😅
same here. i Even tried with different content to see what would happen. I think youtube is biased to some regions only.
@thenodiggardener I can understand this frustration. I have a short that has fewer than 20 impressions after several months, while my others have thousands! (I'm leaving it alone to see what happens lol.)
I did check out your channel, and found that searching for "@thenodiggardener" finds you, but anything without the @ doesn't. It seems like "no dig gardener" is a common enough term that it's finding larger channels first. So it's a good name, but possibly working against a small channel.
For your subs who aren't getting notified, you might remind them that the subscribe button now has a drop-down that lets you select "All" notifications instead of the default "Personalized". I think this was changed a few months back, but I'm not sure exactly when.
I watched your recent potato video, too. The video was very informative, but you're right in saying that your style isn't for everyone. You sound knowledgeable, and the video sounds very conversational rather than scripted. That's good, but viewers (especially younger) may lose focus without a clear flow from start to finish. Showing the result up front and then showing the process to get there might help.
Honestly, I think the packaging needs work. If you search for "grow potatoes in a bucket" or "grow potatoes on the patio", you'll see thumbnails with clear text, images featuring potatoes, or both. That's what you're competing with, so it's worth looking. I found it quite difficult to read the text on your thumbnails (even with the stroke that you added), and the potatoes are lost among the greenery. Maybe viewers in your niche don't care as much, but that's what stood out.
I've never had a "make money" video make me smile. Great content ♥
I find it wild how I'll get one of your own ads play before a video... ON YOUR OWN VIDEO 😂
Appreciate the information! Definitely will be implementing in my upcoming videos! Thanks 👍
Thanks this has been helpful
Great video for new and up-and-coming creators! Thanks for the valuable info and encouragement!
Unlocking the mysteries of the TH-cam algorithm feels like cracking a code. These tips are gold for content creators.
Great info!
Gosh, thank you for this video. I have been so frustrated with my channel never growing (I mean not at all), but now I get it. I am a recording artist, that posts things that I enjoy in life, my Dogs, Fishing and Motocross. So my videos are all over the place. TH-cam will never ever find a market for my channel, ever.
Wishing everyone success in their channels! Just keep posting quality content and you’ll get there one day!
Im curious your thoughts...I get about a million views a month, 88% from shorts and 12% from longform. The thing is...its the same. I edit my videos in a way where its almost soundbite by soundbite, so each soundbite becomes a reel and the longform lives just as that. I.e., two ways to share the same exact content to two separate audiences.
But im concerned that my shorts might be preventing my longform videos from reaching full potential. Should I turn my current channel into reels only and then start a fresh channel with just my longform videos? The quality of what im doing and focus is 500% more than when I started. Id be intersted to hear your thoughts. 😊
I'm working my way through the minefield that is starting a channel, cheers for the advice
14:46 I've noticed that long videos(1-2 hours) are getting views longer than videos 10-20 min long.
I have a channel about Reddit stories. There are 500+ videos ranging from 10 min to 2 hours long. I stopped posting videos a few years ago, but the channel still gets 500k views every month.
All of those views I got from 60+ min videos. All my 10-20 min videos died in the first 3-6 months, but the 1-2 hours videos have been getting views for years.
The main reason is the huge WATCH HOURS per viewer.
Longer videos are OP right now
@@Marcus-Jones fr😭
@@Marcus-Jonesmy most viewed long form is a low quality video of me playing with my dogs
Question: say I watch these extra long videos (1hr+) broken up over multiple sessions. Is there any evidence for how the views are counted here? Is all of that watch time attributed to a single view, or are they considering my return a new view?
@@JiniechuuYour return will be a new view
I have noticed a change since 2024 - in the past I’ve always gone with “best for viewer” because it historically seemed to send people to the person’s channel. Now it seems to send them anywhere. I’ve noticed this while even watching big creators (of course not knowing for certain of the rec at the end was the best-for-viewer or something that person hand picked from another creator; seems unlikely that would be the case though). I mention this here because it would be in line with YT still trying to emulate tt.
thanks for sharing these
Quality knowledgable content. This shit like a goldmine fr
This was so helpful. My channel blew up this month (meaning like 3k subs to almost 11k as I’m writing this) and this video helped me come to terms with the content that will appeal to my audience. I made so many videos private to make sure the theme is a lot more focused. Thanks again 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks for the information 🤠
Your insights are very useful. Helped our channel a lot. Can’t thank you enough ❤
Very insightful. This will help!
This is very interesting! Thanks
New subscriber here- thanks for breaking it down for people who wants to grow their channel. My videos got pushed out recently after being stuck for months, posting youtube content is like riding a roller coaster !
Interesting perspective here. Growing your channel takes time, hard work and consistency. Still looking for that "key" to success. Definitely is not an overnight process. Thanks for posting.
hello Marcus, would you do a video on how to pivot a niche, from the first point you made for a small channel without having to start a new channel?
Very helpful❤ needed this because i wanted to start a channel on games and was deciding how to execute my channel and this is perfect for me to know how to start because now i need to decide a game for a channel
great video. a lot of youtube advice is super generic and repetitive, this is actually a unique breakdown!
Thank you

I find it wild that our platform/channel The Ash Tyrant’s Mythos just started making Minecraft videos consistently about a couple weeks ago and not only was this recommended to me, but you just so happened to make this video with probably exactly the kind of information we need using Minecraft as the specific example 😂 Wow…
What type of EQ / enhancements if any do you have for your vocals?
Just started my channel with my first video. I look forward to more of your advice ✅
Thanks Teacher now i know the Secrets of Algorithm!. Let's grow up everyone Don't give up.
Thanks man, I am going to implement this Strats on my german channel and hope for the best!
I’ve been stuck with 5 subscribers for awhile now but I’m not giving up
Thanks a lot for the helpful information. You are the only person I really feel like is worth listening to! Only been at it for a few months and its been ok so far! I know my stuff is not the highest quality but I'm learning and improving with every week. Although after watching the video I'm considering my niche is still too broad.. Might have to think about changing that. I'm also going to try and increase the length of my videos I think they might be a little bit too short.
This is the most genius video ever! I never really followed the whole “you need to get lucky” thing. I knew there was more to the algorithm. Thank you for sharing this!

How should I tailor how I interpret the same data from shorts?

Arigato! This channel helped me a lot.
Just started my page and in less then 2 weeks, I got to brush up my page, gain 66 subscribers and over 20k views. I know I can’t compare to the many but just to see my page with subscribers is a big dream. Thank you so much for helping me! ❤
Thanks bro
Hey question; so you're saying to leave the viewers on a positive high, the end should be short, but then how would you use end cards? only show them for like 3 seconds? is that effective?
I figured out TH-cam promotes my videos to people named Franklin who's birthday is October 15th and they were born before noon, in a rural hospital with less than 6 parking spots for ambulances.
After figuring this out, I adjusted my videos and I'm happy to report I'm getting almost 200 views. Not bad.... tHanks for the fun video!
With tip 1, you mentioned creating a brand knew channel, but I dont want to create a new channel as I want to keep the history of my channel and brand, is their something else I can do like this with my same channel?
Probably reach out to other creators in your new niche to do a collab. You do a fun video that's published on their channel, featuring you, and they do a fun one that's published on your channel, featuring them. Their viewers may then check out your older vids in that niche. This sudden influx of viewership could cause the algorithm to think this video is doing well with these kinds of viewers, which will then push your next video to those viewers, too. That's all conjecture, and I have no experience in this field, but it's just an idea that might help! Other than that, maybe advertise your videos in groups that follow that demographic to drive up traffic.
Would it make sense to delete videos from my old channel, delete the old channel and reupload to a new channel (maybe new titles and thumbnails)?
We shall get there day by day🙏
Be patient bro, Success cannot be lost, but without effort, everything is nothing
Wait youre not masochist are you?
Thank you so much. For my understanding, the "New Channel Boost" takes effect whether I already have a Google Account with channels on it, as long as I create a new "Channel" on that acct it should work?
Great way to show it 👍👍👍
248 subs in 4 years gonna keep grinding 😂😂
so lets say i had a channel where i performed song covers from different bands. presumably people are clicking (at least initially) because they like the band or the song, rather than because they like my singing. so should i therefore ONLY be creating covers from ONE band on my channel? and if I want to cover a different band's song then I create a new channel for covering that band?
Hey 👋 , thank you for information , please next video talk about content vlogs 😊
What you mentioned about the TH-cam boom ( or whatever you called it lol) is true. What’s funny about n8wealth is that we created our channels only a few days apart. I remember getting recommended his first and only video at the time and it had less than a thousand views. I had only posted one video and it took off like crazy. The thing I got to realise about TH-cam last year is that they would push your videos In the first hour then after that your views would tank, completely. I think what they were doing worked because I think they just wanted to give people hope that they’ve got something going on.
I posted over 150 videos in less than 2 months all because of that one video. During the first month, my videos would get on average a thousand views in less than 5 minutes but they became stagnant till eternity.
Great stuff bro 🙏🏽

That was actually funny tysm made my day lol

Keep up the hard work
Thank you so much for sharing your information.

thank you soo much bro!!
New channel boost doles out false hope. High impressions and views tells me that I'm doing something right and should continue. So I do. But then views fall off the cliff.
I appreciate the boost, but I think I'd rather actually know if what I'm doing will gain traction organically before investing more time and effort into the concept. Thanks for the vid.

Hi Marcus Do you know if there is a report for subscription from content and date? Thanks
to small channels that want to put on slightly different content sometimes: UNCHECK THE BUTTON THAT PROMOTE YOUR VIDEO TO YOUR SUBSCRIBERS: it is very helpfull. i have an Apex legends themed channel and recently i put a warframe video: i had to uncheck this box (its in the first panel when you upload) so my video is throw directly into the algorithm, forcing him to do all the work and to find the right audience. it is a little bit slower because youtube is litteraly searching but eventually the right audience is always found. Also, thx marcus Jones, your vids are always 100% full of interesting things
Great advice, thank you.
