Ahh finally found time to sit down and watch this - lovely to remember a great parkrun day. Also glad I’m not yapping away too much in the background 🤣. Thanks for introducing Sam to WendyWorms - a new favourite! I hope 2025 brings you both a brilliant year of parkruns, baby seals and happiness x
Thanks for your wonderful company on the day 🥰 Ooh Sam has good taste! Wendy Worms take some beating! 😋 Wishing you guys a wonderful 2025 too and hopefully see you at some point somewhere else in parkrunworld 🤗😊
My mums family all come from Gorleston. I had one of the happiest summer parkruns at Gorleston Cliffs in 2022 along a beach I know from childhood. This clearly seems different and leaves me in a quandary whether to have a go with this one come this Summer!
I've just got back from great Yarmouth nicola it's my home town I've done this park twice now not easy on the sand got say the weather has been great last week happy new year ❤❤
@@simonsparkes5481 well done for doing it twice! It's tough isn't it?! Awww it's lovely being by the sea when it's sunny... It's super cold though! Happy new year to you too ☺️
On my to do list as I used to live down by the Wellington Pier. It's a bit of a trek from Manc though! Btw, Wilmslow parkrun are well known locally for often having prosecco at the finish.
Oh no! 100 miles is a long way! The weather is crazy 🥶🥶🥶 I was lucky with York announcing in time for me to get there safely. And then Roundhay went ahead so we were very lucky over here! 😃
A Run at the Beach and along the Sea is something different and interesting. Great Idea from the Parkrun Team🏃🏽♂️👍. Is it more difficult than running on the Street?
It's several orders of magnitude harder! Adds around 4-5 minutes to your time... At least! Probably more for those at the back. It's super tough! There's a fair few parkruns on beaches but this one is fairly high up the beach and on softer sand than any of the others I've done! 🙃
Christmas marked a year of me watching your fab videos after meeting you and Carla at Vogrie last Christmas. I didn't manage as many parkruns as I wanted this year but was super happy to get my 25th on New Year's Day. 🎉 Looking forward to more of your videos this year! Happy New Year! 😊
Awww what a lovely comment, 25 is awesome... More than one every 2 weeks so a big commitment 😃 I hope you had a great Christmas full of lovely parkruns. Maybe bump into you somewhere else in parkrunworld in the future! 😃
Looks like y'all had a lot of fun at the seaside, regardless of the whining about the little sandy hill and the lack luster assisted 'sprint' finish. It's an odd way to start Xmas day but my sister has the family over to hers for Thanksgiving and her daughter takes the grandchildren plus assorted guests to the Turkey Trot 5k to get them out of her hair as she cooks lunch. Well I handicapped my Xmas day parkrun by wearing a full Santa outfit with beard including a sack with pretend gifts, the weather had very different plans for the correct attire. As I mentioned to people at the end ; even though it was my slowest time that year I was clearly the hottest Santa there as I was dripping with sweat.
Great video and makes me want to pay this parkrun a visit. I was going to ask in the comments if anyone went for a Christmas swim after and then you spotted someone who had! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
I know how hard it is to run in sand. I grew up in Southern California and it was definitely a battle. Running by the ocean helps but with the hip imbalance, it can wind up causing problems. I am wondering if running this particular ParkRun would be better barefoot or even the minimalist shoes. Definitely looked like fun and it is amazing that there are races / organized runs on Christmas Day. Best wishes to you and Poppy.
Ooh I don't know about barefoot... One end is shingle in sand which might be uncomfortable and the bits on grass might be uncomfortable as sometimes dune grass is pretty sharp! I think it's doable but I'd definitely prefer to do it in shoes 😊
Spotted a Letchworth parkrunner in your film! If the weather is bad and there are lots of cancellations and you are looking for a run to do, you must come to visit us. We hardly ever cancel, and Carnage Corner and The Bog deserve to be better known.
Great video on the hardest part run in the uk. I guess the surface is easier to run on in certain sections. I plan to visit there in March and combined it with the Great Yarmouth 10k the next day.
loved this one i did Heaton park yesteday 1047 doing it also i did not know this till last night a runner who films on you tube called THE running Mark was there doing it aswell
Great Yarmouth has the distinction of being the very last Parkrun to break 20 minutes (possibly when wet and frozen) so very strong claim to being the hardest. To this point only 2 have gone sub 20.
What do you mean by very last? I'm always interested in the stats but am mindful about what it means in terms of number of runners and how old the event is and what the PBs of the fast people are. If you look at the fast people at Yarmouth they don't go back whereas at Durlston they do so it's really difficult to quantify and I guess it depends if you train on hills or train on sand. It will probably always have a degree of subjectivity but it's definitely interesting to look at! 😃
As in every Parkrun has an event record time less than 20 minutes. Yarmouth was the last for this to happen 3.5 years after it started in October 2023 (from a 14:32 runner). Only 2 people have ever broken 20 at Yarmouth. Durlstons 20 minutes was broken on the third event and the first finisher is fairly regularly below 20. As you say speeds are obviously reliant on who turns up and how hard they try. I actually did an analysis on hardest/softest Parkrun time records to beat about 1.5 years ago which is how I came across Yarmouth.
there was an 18.38 this week which I guess might be a new course record (or it would be if course records still existed)! Probably frozen sand - when I did it I reckon it was a good 5mins slower than other courses.
only live hour and bit away from this one been avoiding this one because of the surface but I will brave it next one I do if Nic is brave so will I be lol 😊

Merry Christmas and a happy new year with healed disc and much joy to you and Poppy xxxx
Awww thanks Emma, I hope you have a wonderful 2025 🤗🤗🤗
Oh god that looks tough! Imagine having that as your regular parkrun! 😅
I know right?! It's a very small parkrun usually 🤣🤣🤣
Haha way too excited to be doing one of the hardest parkruns 😂 what a way to start your Christmas Day. Hope you had a great one 😊
Lol thanks, it was so much fun! 😃
Wow sand! There had to be a catch. I was thinking it would be totally flat.
Good work
Thanks, it's super tough! The incline is tiny but it feels like a travelator! 🤣🤣🤣

Can you do them both? Stay for two Saturdays? 😃😃😃 They're both brilliant 🙃

Brilliant! I love it when a parkrun has a reputation for something funny like that 🤣🤣🤣
Nice video!! I so want to do Great Yarmouth North Beach!!!
Thank you 🙏🏼😊 It's a tough one! 😳😃
A sneaky trip to York today I see, to avoid the cancellations. Non within a 100 miles of me, here on the west coast😂

@ thanks. I would also run with Trail Shoes on the Beach.
@@andreasgotz7537 I think that's wise ☺️

This is brilliant 🤣 I so love fancy dress! The Turkey Trot sounds fantastic! 😃😃😃
Great video one for the bucket list 😊
Thanks 😊 For sure! Add it to the bucket list! 😃
*bucket and spade list.
@iamjamieg that's actually brilliant! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great video and makes me want to pay this parkrun a visit. I was going to ask in the comments if anyone went for a Christmas swim after and then you spotted someone who had! Thanks for sharing your adventures.
Thank you 🤗 Who knew Christmas swims were a thing?! 😃
@NicolaRuns I recommend it for the same reasons running on Christmas Day is so good despite some people thinking we're mad!
@BobSmith-s7j the madder the better I reckon 😃
Hope you had a good Xmas Nicola!
Christmas Day parkrun is my favourite parkrun day of the year.
Yes! Mine too! It's the most magical parkrunday of all 😃🤗🥰

Oh and Christmas parkruns are my absolute favourite! There's something so special about doing something with others on Christmas Day 🤗

Ooh nice! 😊
So far I've only done here and Whinlatter - and Gt Yarmouth was DEFINITELY tougher! Best wishes for 2025 Nicola.
Thanks, you too Geoff 🤗 Get yourself to Durlston and let me know what you think 😃

@velogoo the number of PBs was awesome! Definitely frozen sand and it shows that this course can indeed be pretty fast! 😱
only live hour and bit away from this one been avoiding this one because of the surface but I will brave it next one I do if Nic is brave so will I be lol 😊
Yes!!! 😃 Be brave! You only live once and it's a gorgeous place to be. You can walk as much as you like 🙃
Nicola's Hair Tier Week Twenty - Tinse(l) well after washing - 10/10
Ooh this is tenuous but also brilliant because of the tinsel in my hair 🤣
Great video…..but is Lyme park harder ?
Thanks, and no... Definitely not! All four I've mentioned in the video description are harder than Lyme 🙃
Far too much hard work on Xmas Day!
NYD is still my favourite parkrun of the year
I'm always too hungover to fully enjoy NYD parkrun 🙈 I'm running while wishing for sleep 🤣
U look like u have a lot of fun. Do you watch crown my run? He makes banter parkrun vids he's jokes
No I don't have much time to watch others as I'm usually out adventuring! 🙃 Sounds like a laugh though 😃😃😃
He tried to run with nick bester but he bump into someone and flopped maybe you'll be in his challenges one day
