DO NOT REMOVE THE BOTTLE. It's not a catch can, IT'S A COOLANT EXPANSION TANK. You will lose coolant if it's not there and will cause overheating issues. There's a valve in the radiator cap which allows hot coolant to flow into the bottle. When the system is cooled down, atmospheric pressure pushes the coolant in the bottle back into the radiator.
Just had a thought.... Why don't you remove the 6th gear to save even more weight? You could also remove every other spoke from the wheels. Helium in the tyres also helps.
I fitted the fuel tank from a Honda melody scooter to my CRF450L in order to save weight, but i found by far the best thing i did was to pay a mining company trillions of pounds to remove billions upon billions of tonnes of material from the earths core in order to lessen the gravitational effect the globe was having on my bike. It certainly is a lot easier to pick up now, and corners like a dream.
you probably dont care but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost my login password. I love any assistance you can offer me.
@Rowen Orion I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This always amazes me. Honda spends an enormous amount of time/money to develop a true "dual sport" bike that is quiet enough and clean enough to meet Emissions standards globally, and truly be an ON-ROAD AND OFF-ROAD machine, and what do people do? Immediately strip it to make it into a mostly OFF-ROAD machine. IF that is what is wanted, fuck, buy and enduro, track, or dedicated dirt bike! Sure the plastic insulation and details on the exhaust add to weight, but it also makes it so your neighbors aren't screaming at you for blowing out your neighborhood with your fucking loud machines! The plastics give only modest or minor protection, but that is not their primary function, and it does offer minor bump resistance. Short of a hard crash bar set, what do you expect? Honestly, if you want all that off-road performance and lack of weight, there already are great off-road machines out of the box by Honda, KTM, Husky, Yamaha, Suzuki and others that suit this market. Leave the Dual-Sport, a truly dual-sport machine. So many reviews show this bike to be a great answer to the demand for just this type of bike. . . . . It is not an enduro bike (thought that is its roots), but it seems an awesome dual sport platform.

The problem is we all wanted the 450X, and Honda is only offering Australia the L. So, people in a last ditch effort to remain loyal to the brand are breaking out the grinders and hacksaws, but in the long run it only adds to more disappointment.
