Most of my family lives in PV & OP. Johnson county was founded on "white flight". After brown v. Board, tons of white parents in KCMo didn’t want their white girls going to school with black boys. They call it cupcake land. Lots of strip malls and chain restaurants. Everyone goes to Missouri for any cultural or sports experience. There’s some diversity because the tech jobs bring a handful of Asians. It’s not for everyone, but it’s ok.

Thanks for you input. It's always great to hear about watchers history and what they experience. You are right - it's not for everyone, but a lot of people really like it.

There’s more jobs around college boulevard around the old sprint campus than downtown kcmo. Plus kcmo has a terrible shooting and crime problem now. Downtown Overland Park is pretty walkable. Basically the entire KC metro area is unwalkable tho. Great video

Thank you. I agree. It is pretty difficult to claim our city as walkable overall in the metro. I'm glad the streetcar downtown is expanding, so that's good. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comments. I always love reading what people experience around the metro.

Are you looking to rent? One place people go is niche.com to look for rating sof certain areas. Each persons comfort level is different when it comes to safety, so i would advise looking at that webiste, and even looking at the crime places on the county police website. This will help you define that.

Are you looking to rent or to buy? One place you can go is niche.com. This website ranks certain areas and you can make a determining fact on your comfort level. Also, go to greatschools.org and see school rankings. This can also be a good guide. How else can I be of assistance?

nice review, but please either eliminate or reduce the volume of your background music. It was extremely distractive, and if I wasn't so interested in what you had to say I would have turned it off. I do appreciate your helpful comments

THANK YOU so much for your honest review on the volume of the music. That's really helpful. I will definitely watch out for that in the future. I am still learning the ins and outs of youtube and what works and what doesn't work, so thank you. And, thanks for watching.

Wondering what do the residents of the $500k+ homes do for a living to afford those houses?

Great question. Many are managers or entrepreneurs. But also, many people have moved from other states and bring equity from their previous home sales. Real Estate continues to appreciate and there are many people who live in their first home for 5-10 years and sit on the equity, sell and move up.

Moved to OP 3 yrs ago from AZ. We absolutely love it. Kind people, beautiful landscape, 4 seasons, great school and lots of job opportunities. My husband is in finance and I do ultrasound at one of the hospitals. Lots of people in our area are attorneys, doctors, entrepreneurs etc

Oh gosh - I totally missed your response and just read it this morning. I love OP. Have you went to Activate yet? I"ll be posting soon about my experience there. Super fun if you haven't gone.

How is the tolerance for same sex couples with kids?

Great question. Kansas City is known for its diverse and welcoming community, in my experience. Neighborhoods across the city celebrate diversity, with many local businesses and schools promoting inclusive policies and programs. However, as with any location, experiences can vary, and I recommend connecting with local LGBTQ+ organizations or community groups who can provide specific insights and share experiences about living in the metro area. This can give you a better understanding of the community dynamics and support available to see if Overland Park is a good fit for your family. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
