    If you look on the front grill I believe 1975 they put the engine size in the grill. 350, 454, etc. Never seen 305 in the grill, especially on a 3/4 ton 😂 nice truck nonetheless!

    Had a camper from day 1 was only driven to big bear lake and back. Sold mid 80s...it was picture perfect. That era of people really took care of thier stuff.

      @@calvinpochinko4277 The silent generation..best of them all. Agree, they saw everything from the first Model T, wars, development of this great nation...worked hard, rarely complained and lived by the golden rule. As a 70s kid I had a lot of respect for those people.
      Sickens me how the last 2 gens of people could care less and want to destroy everthing they created. Life wasnt easy in those days.

    The tailgate is off of a 1981 year model because 1981 was the first year for that tailgate design & the last year for the 350 diesel V8.

      I don't think so.. keep in mind this is in Canada.. from 1973 to 1976 the logo was in the middle and the tailgate straps were attached to the tailgate itself and after that they moved the attachment to the latch.. ask me how I know ?.. the guy I bought it from put didn't have the tailgate and only had a brown a 1980 tailgate to put on it and the straps were too long and then I found the original tailgate and both the tailgate and the truck are badged from Stern Trucks in Winnipeg and I tracked it down and it is the original

      I actually did get what you were saying but when I bought the truck the guy I bought it from bought it without the motor as it had been removed and sat with no motor in it for 30 years( cracked block from freezing) and he put one in before he sold it to me that was junk so I'm putting in a l31 Vortec roller camshaft roller lifter motor with a carburetor and HEI ignition.. I've now done the repairs and I'm just about to start cleaning everything up and seal and paint the new inner rocker panels and floor top and bottom.. as far as the tattletales go on whether it has 1466 MI it has the original shock absorbers, original ball joints, original GM rotors/brakes and brake drums with the factory stickers,no wear on the pedals,no wear on the windshield wiper linkage and no wear on the seat and seems to have never been driven in the winter up here in Canada because the frame is smooth as a baby's butt😂

      It used to be standard to have a wood floor and then they put the steel floor in and made the wood floor an option.. apparently it was so it wasn't so slippery for livestock.. the RPO for it was E81... at least that's what it says on the SPID( Service Parts IDentification label

    Preserve what's there! It's such a shame that got so rusted out by where the seat meets the floor. Surprising, considering how amazing the rest is. And a wooden bed floor to boot!

    • @calvinpochinko4277
      @calvinpochinko4277  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it is too bad but it's apparently very common... I'm just lucky all the rest of the truck is so minty... back in the day you would leave the windows open a little bit to let out the hot air in the summer and from what I understand it sat that way for 30 years with the truck camper on it... that's what saved the wooden box floor... I was thinking of putting a l-31 roller camshaft roller lifter 350 motor in it with old school V belts but I also have an l-29 454 with roller camshaft roller lifters and I might old school that and put it in.. I'm still a little on the fence on that one ...

    Where's the fan shroud that belongs on there? Piss pour job of not a OEM upper radiator hose.Brake pedal Wear tells a different story of actual miles.Non OEM cab marker lights for that generation SQ body.Small block Chevy had oil dipstick on drivers side not passenger side in the 70,s

    • @calvinpochinko4277
      @calvinpochinko4277  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess you didn't listen very carefully so I'll spell it out for you smarty pants.. here's the full story the guy I bought the truck from told me that on the way back from the lake sometimes in the 80s the radiator hose blew off and they filled it up full of water and forgot about it and because this is Canada it cracked the block when they forgot to take the water out before winter so they pulled the engine. And then it sat for 30 some years with no engine with a camper on the back.. the guy I bought it from purchase it from the original owner and then he bought another truck like it says in the video if you were listening he stuffed it in there.. he wasn't a rocket scientist nor a very good mechanic but he made it run.. I have the fan shroud but hadn't had time yet at the making of this video to put it on but I found that the motor was crap and it too had a crack in the block so I am presently putting an L31 Vortex 350 into it and upgrading the transmission from a th350 to a th400 like my original 1977 Chevy 3/4 ton that I owned in 1983.. I don't care that it's not the original engine the l31 is better with roller rocker and roller lifters and a one piece rear main seal.. it will get a proper radiator hose when I put the new engine in next week.. when the guy bought truck and truck camper combo from Stern trucks in Winnipeg it was a basic blue 3/4 ton and he had them Dress It Up at the time.. he had them put on the Chrome on the sides and paint the sides White and install dealer supplied air conditioning and my guess is either the dealer put those roof lights on or the owner did.. now to address the brake pedal there is absolutely no wear on that thing.. I just put the new inner rocker panels in to take care of that Rusty situation from sitting with water in there.. after closer inspection I find that it has the original ball joints and the GM original front rotors and rear drums with the factory stickers on them... anyways I have one of you don't😂 or you would probably show it off on your TH-cam channel that doesn't have anything on it😂 stay tuned for new video upgrades coming soon haha

      I just checked out your suburban.. it's looking pretty good... I think you are in a good spot considering how much it cost these days for restoration work and also the price of a new truck.. a lot of guys up here in Canada would probably spend 15,000 Canadian for it and that is about 11,000ish American... It's common for them to pool water in that area and it sat for 30 years.. the Rockers and cab corners are immaculate and normally those would be the first to go.. in 1983 I bought my 1977 3/4 ton and the whole right side rocker was rusted out.. I don't know what to tell you it still has its original ball joints, Factory stickers on GM brake drums and rotors, no wear on the pedals, basically intact seat and dash.. it's for sure never seen a Canadian winter and salt on the roads. Actually I just finished doing the inner rockers and I'll be putting it back together soon

      @@calvinpochinko4277 I'm just saying. I have an '84 square body I bought it 12 yrs ago and before I bought it, I drove past it for 5yrs while it sat out in the open before I finally stopped and ask if they would sell it. And as of today it still has its original paint, with light surface rust, but no rust holes. Its a daily driver and it sits outside exposed to rain and driven in the rain it has 191,000 miles and I rebuilt the engine and trans at 150,000 and I drive it to work 5 days a week 40 miles a day. My '84 was bought new in Oklahoma and at some point ended up in Texas where I got my hands on it.
